We will make you recite, [O Muḥammad], and you will not forget,

Except what Allāh should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ ١٨
Indeed, this is in the former scriptures,
صُحُفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ ١٩
The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
الصحف ... صحف:
1- بضم الحاء، فيهما، وهى قراءة الجمهور.
وقرئا:
2- بسكونها، فيهما، وهى قراءة الأعمش، وهارون، وعصمة، كلاهما عن أبى عمرو.
إبراهيم:
1- بألف وبياء، والهاء مكسورة، وهى قراءة الجمهور.
وقرئ:
2- إبرهم، بحذف الألف والياء، والهاء مفتوحة مكسورة معا، وهى قراءة أبى رجاء.
3- إبراهام، وهى قراءة أبى موسى الأشعري، وابن الزبير.
4- إبراهم، بألف وفتح الهاء وبغير ياء، وهى قراءة مالك بن دينار.
5- إبراهم، بألف وكسر الهاء وبغير ياء، وهى قراءة عبد الرحمن بن أبى بكرة.
6- إبراهم، بألف وضم الهاء وبغير ياء.
