۞ وَلَوۡ يُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسۡتِعۡجَالَهُم بِٱلۡخَيۡرِ لَقُضِيَ إِلَيۡهِمۡ أَجَلُهُمۡۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا فِي طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ ١١
And if Allāh was to hasten for the people the evil [they invoke]1 as He hastens for them the good, their term would have been ended for them.2 But We leave the ones who do not expect the meeting with Us, in their transgression, wandering blindly.

قوله: ﴿وَلَوْ يُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسْتِعْجَالَهُمْ بِٱلْخَيْرِ﴾.

قوله: ﴿ٱسْتِعْجَالَهُمْ بِٱلْخَيْرِ﴾ تقديره عند سيبويه: "تعجيلاً مثل استعجالهم بالخير" ثم حذف تعجيلاً، وأقام صفته (مقامه)، ثم حذف صفته وأقام المضاف إليه مقامه، وحكى "زيد: شرب الإبل" أي: يشرب شرباً مثل شرب الإبل.
وقال الأخفش والفراء: التقدير: ﴿وَلَوْ يُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ﴾ الشر مثل استعجالهم بالخير، ثم حذف المضاف. ويلزمهما على هذا أن يجيزا. زيد الأسَد فينصب "الأسَد" أي: مثل الأسَد. وهذا لا يجيزه أحدٌ.
ومعنى الآية: ولو يعجل الله للناس إجابة دعائهم في الشر - أي: فيما عليهم فيه مضرة في نفس، أو مال، أو ولد، وذلك عند الغضب - كما يستعجلون بالخير إذا دعوا في سؤالهم الرحمة، والرزق.
﴿لَقُضِيَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَجَلُهُمْ﴾ أي: لماتوا. قال مجاهد: هو قول الإنسان لولده، ولماله إذا غضب: اللهم لا تُبَارِكْ فِيهِ والْعَنْهُ ونحو ذلك، ولو عجل الله الإجابة فيه كما يريدون أن تستعجل لهم الإجابة في الخير إذا دَعَوا لأهلكهم.
وقد قيل: إن هذا إنما هو قولهم:
﴿ٱللَّهُمَّ إِن كَانَ هَـٰذَا هُوَ ٱلْحَقَّ مِنْ عِندِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَوِ ٱئْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ﴾ [الأنفال: ٣٢]. فلو عجل لهم ذلك لهلكوا.

ثم قال تعالى: ﴿فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِينَ لاَ يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا﴾ (معناه): ندع الذين لا يخافون البعث، لا نُهْلِكُهُم إلى مدتهم، ولكن نذرهم ﴿فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ﴾ أي: في ضلالتهم يَتَحَيَّرُونْ. وهو مثل قوله: ﴿إِنَّمَا نُمْلِي لَهُمْ لِيَزْدَادُوۤاْ إِثْمَاً﴾ [آل عمران: ١٧٨].

10:7
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا وَرَضُواْ بِٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱطۡمَأَنُّواْ بِهَا وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا غَٰفِلُونَ ٧
Indeed, those who do not expect the meeting with Us and are satisfied with the life of this world and feel secure therein and those who are heedless of Our signs -
10:8
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ ٨
For those their refuge will be the Fire because of what they used to earn.
10:9
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ يَهۡدِيهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِإِيمَٰنِهِمۡۖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهِمُ ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ فِي جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٩
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - their Lord will guide them because of their faith. Beneath them rivers will flow in the Gardens of Pleasure.
10:10
دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ فِيهَا سُبۡحَٰنَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَتَحِيَّتُهُمۡ فِيهَا سَلَٰمٞۚ وَءَاخِرُ دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ أَنِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ١٠
Their call therein will be, "Exalted are You, O Allāh," and their greeting therein will be, "Peace." And the last of their call will be, "Praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds!"
10:11

10:12
وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوۡ قَاعِدًا أَوۡ قَآئِمٗا فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمۡ يَدۡعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرّٖ مَّسَّهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ ١٢
And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus is made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing.
10:13
وَلَقَدۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا ٱلۡقُرُونَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَمَّا ظَلَمُواْ وَجَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ وَمَا كَانُواْ لِيُؤۡمِنُواْۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ ١٣
And We had already destroyed generations before you when they wronged, and their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.
10:14
ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَٰكُمۡ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ لِنَنظُرَ كَيۡفَ تَعۡمَلُونَ ١٤
Then We made you successors in the land after them so that We may observe how you will do.
