أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ ٨
For those their refuge will be the Fire because of what they used to earn.

Commentary on 10:7–8
(p-106)﴿إنَّ الَّذِينَ لا يَرْجُونَ لِقاءَنا﴾ لا يَتَوَقَّعُونَهُ لِإنْكارِهِمُ البَعْثَ وذُهُولِهِمْ بِالمَحْسُوساتِ عَمّا وراءَها. ﴿وَرَضُوا بِالحَياةِ الدُّنْيا﴾ مِنَ الآخِرَةِ لِغَفْلَتِهِمْ عَنْها. ﴿واطْمَأنُّوا بِها﴾ وسَكَنُوا إلَيْها مُقْصِرِينَ هِمَمَهم عَلى لَذائِذِها وزَخارِفِها، أوْ سَكَنُوا فِيها سُكُونَ مَن لا يُزْعَجُ عَنْها. ﴿والَّذِينَ هم عَنْ آياتِنا غافِلُونَ﴾ لا يَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِيها لِانْهِماكِهِمْ فِيما يُضادُّها والعَطْفُ إمّا لِتَغايُرِ الوَصْفَيْنِ والتَّنْبِيهِ عَلى أنَّ الوَعِيدَ عَلى الجَمْعِ بَيْنَ الذُّهُولِ عَنِ الآياتِ رَأْسًا والِانْهِماكِ في الشَّهَواتِ بِحَيْثُ لا تَخْطُرُ الآخِرَةُ بِبالِهِمْ أصْلًا، وإمّا لِتَغايُرِ الفَرِيقَيْنِ والمُرادُ بِالأوَّلِينَ مَن أنْكَرَ البَعْثَ ولَمْ يَرَ إلّا الحَياةَ الدُّنْيا وبِالآخِرِينَ مَن ألْهاهُ حُبُّ العاجِلِ عَنِ التَّأمُّلِ في الآجِلِ والإعْدادِ لَهُ.
﴿أُولَئِكَ مَأْواهُمُ النّارُ بِما كانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ﴾ بِما واظَبُوا عَلَيْهِ وتَمَرَّنُوا بِهِ مِنَ المَعاصِي.

10:7
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا وَرَضُواْ بِٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱطۡمَأَنُّواْ بِهَا وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا غَٰفِلُونَ ٧
Indeed, those who do not expect the meeting with Us and are satisfied with the life of this world and feel secure therein and those who are heedless of Our signs -
10:8
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ ٨
For those their refuge will be the Fire because of what they used to earn.
10:9
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ يَهۡدِيهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِإِيمَٰنِهِمۡۖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهِمُ ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ فِي جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٩
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - their Lord will guide them because of their faith. Beneath them rivers will flow in the Gardens of Pleasure.
10:10
دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ فِيهَا سُبۡحَٰنَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَتَحِيَّتُهُمۡ فِيهَا سَلَٰمٞۚ وَءَاخِرُ دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡ أَنِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ١٠
Their call therein will be, "Exalted are You, O Allāh," and their greeting therein will be, "Peace." And the last of their call will be, "Praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds!"
10:11
۞ وَلَوۡ يُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسۡتِعۡجَالَهُم بِٱلۡخَيۡرِ لَقُضِيَ إِلَيۡهِمۡ أَجَلُهُمۡۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا فِي طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ ١١
And if Allāh was to hasten for the people the evil [they invoke]1 as He hastens for them the good, their term would have been ended for them.2 But We leave the ones who do not expect the meeting with Us, in their transgression, wandering blindly.
10:12
وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوۡ قَاعِدًا أَوۡ قَآئِمٗا فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمۡ يَدۡعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرّٖ مَّسَّهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ ١٢
And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus is made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing.
10:13
وَلَقَدۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا ٱلۡقُرُونَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ لَمَّا ظَلَمُواْ وَجَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ وَمَا كَانُواْ لِيُؤۡمِنُواْۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ ١٣
And We had already destroyed generations before you when they wronged, and their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.
10:14
ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَٰكُمۡ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ لِنَنظُرَ كَيۡفَ تَعۡمَلُونَ ١٤
Then We made you successors in the land after them so that We may observe how you will do.
