وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ ٣
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?

﴿وما أدْراكَ﴾ أيْ وأيُّ شَيْءٍ أعْلَمَكَ وإنْ بالَغْتَ في التَّعَرُّفِ، وأظْهَرَ مَوْضِعَ الإضْمارِ لِذَلِكَ فَقالَ: ﴿ما القارِعَةُ﴾ أيْ أنَّكَ لا تَعْرِفُها لِأنَّكَ لَمْ تَعْهَدْ مِثْلَهُ.
وقالَ الإمامُ أبُو جَعْفَرِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ: لَمّا قالَ اللَّهُ سُبْحانَهُ وتَعالى: ”﴿أفَلا يَعْلَمُ إذا بُعْثِرَ ما في القُبُورِ﴾ [العاديات: ٩] ﴿وحُصِّلَ ما في الصُّدُورِ﴾ [العاديات: ١٠]“ كانَ ذَلِكَ مَظِنَّةً لِأنْ يَسْألَ: مَتى ذَلِكَ؟ فَقِيلَ: يَوْمُ القِيامَةِ الهائِلُ الأمْرِ، الفَظِيعُ الحالِ، الشَّدِيدُ البَأْسِ، والقِيامَةُ هي القارِعَةُ، وكَرَّرَتْ تَعْظِيمًا لِأمْرِها كَما ورَدَ في قَوْلِهِ تَعالى ﴿الحاقَّةُ﴾ [الحاقة: ١] ﴿ما الحاقَّةُ﴾ [الحاقة: ٢] و[فِي] قَوْلِهِ سُبْحانَهُ: ﴿فَغَشِيَهم مِنَ اليَمِّ ما غَشِيَهُمْ﴾ [طه: ٧٨] ثُمَّ زادَ عَظِيمَ هَوْلِهِ إيضاحًا بِقَوْلِهِ تَعالى ﴿يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النّاسُ كالفَراشِ المَبْثُوثِ﴾ [القارعة: ٤] والفَراشُ ما تَهافَتَ في النّارِ مِنَ البَعُوضِ، والمَبْثُوثُ: المُنْتَشِرُ ﴿وتَكُونُ الجِبالُ كالعِهْنِ المَنفُوشِ﴾ [القارعة: ٥] والعِهْنِ: الصُّوفُ المَصْبُوغُ، وخَصَّ لِإعْدادِهِ لِلْغَزْلِ إذْ لا يُصْبَغُ لِغَيْرِهِ بِخِلافِ الأبْيَضِ [فَإنَّهُ -] لا يَلْزَمُ فِيهِ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ حالَ الخَلْقِ في وزْنِ الأعْمالِ وصَيْرُورَةِ كُلِّ فَرِيقٍ إلى ما كُتِبَ لَهُ وقُدِّرَ - انْتَهى.

100:10
وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي ٱلصُّدُورِ ١٠
And that within the breasts is obtained,1

إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّخَبِيرُۢ ١١
Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Aware.1

Al-Qari'ah
The Calamity · Meccan · 11 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
101:1
ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ ١
The Striking Calamity -
101:2
مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ ٢
What is the Striking Calamity?
101:3
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ ٣
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
101:4
يَوۡمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلۡفَرَاشِ ٱلۡمَبۡثُوثِ ٤
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,1

وَتَكُونُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ كَٱلۡعِهۡنِ ٱلۡمَنفُوشِ ٥
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.1

101:6
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ٦
Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
101:7
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٖ رَّاضِيَةٖ ٧
He will be in a pleasant life.
101:8
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ٨
But as for one whose scales are light,
101:9
فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٞ ٩
101:10
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهۡ ١٠
And what can make you know what that is?
101:11
نَارٌ حَامِيَةُۢ ١١
It is a Fire, intensely hot.
سورة التكاثر
At-Takathur
The Rivalry in world increase · Meccan · 8 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
102:1
أَلۡهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ ١
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you
102:2
حَتَّىٰ زُرۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ ٢
Until you visit the graveyards.1

102:3
كـَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٣
No! You are going to know.
102:4
ثُمَّ كـَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٤
Then, no! You are going to know.
102:5
كـَلَّا لَوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عِلۡمَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ ٥
No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...1

لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ ٦
You will surely see the Hellfire.
102:7
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيۡنَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ ٧
Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.1

ثُمَّ لَتُسۡـَٔلُنَّ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٨
Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.1
