Al-Qari'ah 101:4

يَوۡمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلۡفَرَاشِ ٱلۡمَبۡثُوثِ ٤
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,1

وقَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النّاسُ كالفَراشِ المَبْثُوثِ﴾ قِيلَ أيْضًا: مَنصُوبٌ بِإضْمارِ اذْكُرْ، كَأنَّهُ قِيلَ بَعْدَ تَفْخِيمِ أمْرِ القارِعَةِ وتَشْوِيقِهِ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلاةُ والسَّلامُ إلى مَعْرِفَتِها اذْكُرْ يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النّاسُ إلَخْ. فَإنَّهُ يُدْرِيكَ ما هي. وقالَ الزَّمَخْشَرِيُّ: ظَرْفٌ لِمُضْمَرٍ دَلَّتْ عَلَيْهِ القارِعَةُ؛ أيْ تَقْرَعُ يَوْمَ. وقالَ الحُوفِيُّ: ظَرْفٌ تَأتّى مُقَدَّرًا وبَعْضُهم قَدَّرَ هَذا الفِعْلَ مُقَدَّمًا عَلى القارِعَةِ وجَعَلَها فاعِلًا لَهُ أيْضًا. وقالَ ابْنُ عَطِيَّةَ: ظَرْفٌ لِلْقارِعَةِ نَفْسِها مِن غَيْرِ تَقْدِيرٍ ولَمْ يُبَيِّنْ أيَّ القَوارِعِ أرادَ. وتَعَقَّبَهُ أبُو حَيّانَ بِأنَّهُ إنْ أرادَ اللَّفْظَ الأوَّلَ ورَدَ عَلَيْهِ الفَصْلُ بَيْنَ العامِلِ وهو في صِلَةِ ألْ والمَعْمُولِ بِالخَبَرِ وهو لا يَجُوزُ، وإنْ أرادَ الثّانِيَ أوِ الثّالِثَ فَلا يَلْتَئِمُ مَعْنى الظَّرْفِ مَعَهُ. وأُيِّدَ بِقِراءَةِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ «يَوْمُ» بِالرَّفْعِ عَلى ذَلِكَ، وقَدَّرَ بَعْضُهم المُبْتَدَأ «وقْتَها»؛ والفَراشُ قالَ في الصِّحاحِ: جَمْعُ فَراشَةٍ الَّتِي تَطِيرُ وتَهافَتَ في النّارِ وهو المَرْوِيُّ عَنْ قَتادَةَ. وقِيلَ: هو طَيْرٌ رَقِيقٌ يَقْصِدُ النّارَ ولا يَزالُ يَتَقَحَّمُ عَلى المِصْباحِ ونَحْوِهِ حَتّى يَحْتَرِقَ.
وقالَ الفَرّاءُ: هو غَوْغاءُ الجَرادِ الَّذِي يَنْتَشِرُ في الأرْضِ ويَرْكَبُ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا مِنَ الهَوْلِ، وقالَ صاحِبُ التَّأْوِيلاتِ: اخْتَلَفُوا في تَأْوِيلِهِ عَلى وُجُوهٍ؛ لَكِنَّ كُلَّها تَرْجِعُ

إلى مَعْنًى واحِدٍ؛ وهو الإشارَةُ إلى الحَيْرَةِ والِاضْطِرابِ مِن هَوْلِ ذَلِكَ اليَوْمِ واخْتارَ غَيْرُ واحِدٍ ما رُوِيَ عَنْ قَتادَةَ وقالُوا: شُبِّهُوا في الكَثْرَةِ والِانْتِشارِ والضَّعْفِ والذِّلَّةِ والمَجِيءِ والذَّهابِ عَلى غَيْرِ نِظامٍ والتَّطايُرِ إلى الدّاعِي مِن كُلِّ جِهَةٍ حِينِ يَدْعُوهم إلى المَحْشَرِ بِالفَراشِ المُتَفَرِّقِ المُتَطايِرِ قالَ جَرِيرٌ:
إنَّ الفَرَزْدَقَ ما عَلِمْتُ وقَوْمَهُ مِثْلَ الفَراشِ غَشِينَ نارَ المُصْطَلِي

وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي ٱلصُّدُورِ ١٠
And that within the breasts is obtained,1

إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّخَبِيرُۢ ١١
Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Aware.1

Al-Qari'ah
The Calamity · Meccan · 11 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
101:1
ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ ١
The Striking Calamity -
101:2
مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ ٢
What is the Striking Calamity?
101:3
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ ٣
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
101:4
يَوۡمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلۡفَرَاشِ ٱلۡمَبۡثُوثِ ٤
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,1

وَتَكُونُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ كَٱلۡعِهۡنِ ٱلۡمَنفُوشِ ٥
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.1

101:6
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ٦
Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
101:7
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٖ رَّاضِيَةٖ ٧
He will be in a pleasant life.
101:8
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ٨
But as for one whose scales are light,
101:9
فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٞ ٩
101:10
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهۡ ١٠
And what can make you know what that is?
101:11
نَارٌ حَامِيَةُۢ ١١
It is a Fire, intensely hot.
سورة التكاثر
At-Takathur
The Rivalry in world increase · Meccan · 8 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
102:1
أَلۡهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ ١
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you
102:2
حَتَّىٰ زُرۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ ٢
Until you visit the graveyards.1

102:3
كـَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٣
No! You are going to know.
102:4
ثُمَّ كـَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٤
Then, no! You are going to know.
102:5
كـَلَّا لَوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عِلۡمَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ ٥
No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...1

102:6
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ ٦
You will surely see the Hellfire.
102:7
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيۡنَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ ٧
Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.1

ثُمَّ لَتُسۡـَٔلُنَّ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٨
Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.1
