بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيۡشٍ ١
For the accustomed security of the Quraysh1 -

Commentary on 106:1
تفسير سورة لإيلاف قريش وهي مكية .
ذكر حديث غريب في فضلها : قال البيهقي في كتاب " الخلافيات " : حدثنا أبو عبد الله الحافظ ، حدثنا بكر بن محمد بن حمدان الصيرفي بمرو ، حدثنا أحمد بن عبيد الله النرسي ، حدثنا يعقوب بن محمد الزهري ، حدثنا إبراهيم بن محمد بن ثابت بن شرحبيل ، حدثني عثمان بن عبد الله [ بن ] أبي عتيق ، عن سعيد بن عمرو بن جعدة بن هبيرة ، عن أبيه ، عن جدته أم هانئ بنت أبي طالب ; أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : " فضل الله قريشا بسبع خلال : أني منهم وأن النبوة فيهم ، والحجابة والسقاية فيهم ، وأن الله نصرهم على الفيل ، وأنهم عبدوا الله عز وجل عشر سنين لا يعبده غيرهم ، وأن الله أنزل فيهم سورة من القرآن " ثم تلاها رسول الله : بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم " لإيلاف قريش إيلافهم رحلة الشتاء والصيف فليعبدوا رب هذا البيت الذي أطعمهم من جوع وآمنهم من خوف " .
هذه السورة مفصولة عن التي قبلها في المصحف الإمام ، كتبوا بينهما سطر بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ، وإن كانت متعلقة بما قبلها . كما صرح بذلك محمد بن إسحاق وعبد الرحمن بن زيد بن أسلم ; لأن المعنى عندهما : حبسنا عن مكة الفيل وأهلكنا أهله ( لإيلاف قريش ) أي : لائتلافهم واجتماعهم في بلدهم آمنين .

Quraysh
Quraysh · Meccan · 4 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
106:1
لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيۡشٍ ١
For the accustomed security of the Quraysh1 -

إِۦلَٰفِهِمۡ رِحۡلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيۡفِ ٢
Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer1 -

106:3
فَلۡيَعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٣
Let them worship the Lord of this House,1

106:4
ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٖ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفِۭ ٤
Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.
سورة الماعون
Al-Ma'un
The Small kindnesses · Meccan · 7 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
107:1
أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ ١
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
107:2
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ ٢
For that is the one who drives away the orphan
107:3
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ ٣
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
107:4
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ ٤
So woe to those who pray
107:5
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِهِمۡ سَاهُونَ ٥
[But] who are heedless of their prayer1 -

- i.e., the hypocrites who are unconcerned if they miss prayers when no one sees them. ↩
107:6
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ ٦
Those who make show [of their deeds]
107:7
وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ ٧
And withhold [simple] assistance.
سورة الكوثر
Al-Kawthar
The Abundance · Meccan · 3 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
108:1
إِنَّآ أَعۡطَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ ١
Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muḥammad], al-Kawthar.
108:2
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنۡحَرۡ ٢
So pray to your Lord and offer sacrifice [to Him alone].
108:3
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلۡأَبۡتَرُ ٣
Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.1
