إِۦلَٰفِهِمۡ رِحۡلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيۡفِ ٢
Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer1 -

Commentary on 106:2
قوله تعالى : ( إيلافهم ) بدل من الإيلاف الأول ( رحلة الشتاء والصيف ) " رحلة " نصب على المصدر ، أي ارتحالهم رحلة الشتاء والصيف .
روى عكرمة ، وسعيد بن جبير عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال : كانوا يشتون بمكة ويصيفون بالطائف ، فأمرهم الله تعالى أن يقيموا بالحرم ويعبدوا رب هذا البيت .
وقال الآخرون : كانت لهم رحلتان في كل عام للتجارة ، إحداهما في الشتاء إلى اليمن لأنها أدفأ والأخرى في الصيف إلى الشام .
وكان الحرم واديا جدبا لا زرع فيه ولا ضرع ، وكانت قريش تعيش بتجارتهم ورحلتهم ، وكان لا يتعرض لهم أحد بسوء ، كانوا يقولون : قريش سكان حرم الله وولاة بيته فلولا الرحلتان لم يكن لهم بمكة مقام ، ولولا الأمن بجوار البيت لم يقدروا على التصرف ، وشق عليهم الاختلاف إلى اليمن والشام فأخصبت تبالة وجرش من بلاد اليمن ، فحملوا الطعام إلى مكة ، أهل الساحل من البحر على السفن وأهل البر على الإبل والحمير فألقى أهل الساحل بجدة ، وأهل البر بالمحصب ، وأخصب الشام فحملوا الطعام إلى مكة فألقوا بالأبطح ، فامتاروا من قريب وكفاهم الله مؤنة الرحلتين

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
106:1
لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيۡشٍ ١
For the accustomed security of the Quraysh1 -

- i.e., the honor and reputation Allāh had given them as guardians of the Holy Kaʿbah, which allowed them to travel without fear of being harmed. ↩
106:2
إِۦلَٰفِهِمۡ رِحۡلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيۡفِ ٢
Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer1 -

فَلۡيَعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٣
Let them worship the Lord of this House,1

ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٖ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفِۭ ٤
Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.
سورة الماعون
Al-Ma'un
The Small kindnesses · Meccan · 7 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
107:1
أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ ١
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
107:2
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ ٢
For that is the one who drives away the orphan
107:3
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ ٣
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
107:4
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ ٤
So woe to those who pray
107:5
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِهِمۡ سَاهُونَ ٥
[But] who are heedless of their prayer1 -

- i.e., the hypocrites who are unconcerned if they miss prayers when no one sees them. ↩
107:6
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ ٦
Those who make show [of their deeds]
107:7
وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ ٧
And withhold [simple] assistance.
سورة الكوثر
Al-Kawthar
The Abundance · Meccan · 3 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
108:1
إِنَّآ أَعۡطَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ ١
Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muḥammad], al-Kawthar.
108:2
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنۡحَرۡ ٢
So pray to your Lord and offer sacrifice [to Him alone].
108:3
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلۡأَبۡتَرُ ٣
Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.1
