بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

فَلۡيَعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٣

Commentary on 106:3
وقوله: ( فَلْيَعْبُدُوا رَبَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ ) يقول: فليقيموا بموضعهم ووطنهم من مكة, وليعبدوا ربّ هذا البيت, يعني بالبيت: الكعبة.
كما حدثني يعقوب بن إبراهيم, قال: ثنا هشيم, قال: أخبرنا مُغيرة, عن إبراهيم, أن عمر بن الخطاب رضى الله عنه, صلى المغرب بمكة, فقرأ: ( لإيلافِ قُرَيْشٍ ) فلما انتهى إلى قوله: ( فَلْيَعْبُدُوا رَبَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ ) أشار بيده إلى البيت.
حدثنا عمرو بن عليّ, قال: ثنا عامر بن إبراهيم الأصبهاني, قال: ثنا خطاب ابن جعفر بن أبي المغيرة, قال: ثني أبي, عن سعيد بن جُبير, عن ابن عباس, في قوله ( فَلْيَعْبُدُوا رَبَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ ) قال الكعبة.
وقال بعضهم: أمروا أن يألفوا عبادة ربّ مكة كإلفهم الرحلتين.
*ذكر من قال ذلك:
حدثنا عمرو بن عبد الحميد الآمُلِيّ, قال: ثنا مروان, عن عاصم الأحول, عن عكرِمة, عن ابن عباس, في قول الله: ( لإيلافِ قُرَيْشٍ ) قال: أُمروا أن يألفوا عبادة ربّ هذا البيت, كإلفهم رحلة الشتاء والصيف.

سورة قريش
Quraysh
Quraysh · Meccan · 4 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
106:1
لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيۡشٍ ١
For the accustomed security of the Quraysh1 -

- i.e., the honor and reputation Allāh had given them as guardians of the Holy Kaʿbah, which allowed them to travel without fear of being harmed. ↩
106:2
إِۦلَٰفِهِمۡ رِحۡلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيۡفِ ٢
Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer1 -

- i.e., the trading caravans that traveled south in winter and north in summer. ↩
106:3
فَلۡيَعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٣
Let them worship the Lord of this House,1

ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٖ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفِۭ ٤
Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.
سورة الماعون
Al-Ma'un
The Small kindnesses · Meccan · 7 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
107:1
أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ ١
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
107:2
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ ٢
For that is the one who drives away the orphan
107:3
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ ٣
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
107:4
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ ٤
So woe to those who pray
107:5
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِهِمۡ سَاهُونَ ٥
[But] who are heedless of their prayer1 -

- i.e., the hypocrites who are unconcerned if they miss prayers when no one sees them. ↩
107:6
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ ٦
Those who make show [of their deeds]
107:7
وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ ٧
And withhold [simple] assistance.
سورة الكوثر
Al-Kawthar
The Abundance · Meccan · 3 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
108:1
إِنَّآ أَعۡطَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ ١
Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muḥammad], al-Kawthar.
108:2
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنۡحَرۡ ٢
So pray to your Lord and offer sacrifice [to Him alone].
108:3
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلۡأَبۡتَرُ ٣
Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.1
