بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Commentary on 107:6–7
وثالثها : منع الماعون : أى منع الخير والمعروف والبر عن الناس . فالمراد بمنع الماعون : مع كل فضل وخير عن سواهم . فلفظ " الماعون " أصله " معونة " والألف عوض من الهاء . والعون : هو مساعدة الغير على بلوغ حاجته . . فالمراد بالماعون : ما يستعان به على قضاء الحوائج ، من إناء أو فأس ، أو نار ، أو ما يشبه ذلك .ومنهم من يرى أن المراد بالماعون هنا : الزكاة لأنه جرت عادة القرآن الكريم أن يذكر الزكاة بعد الصلاة .قال الإِمام ابن كثير : قوله : ( وَيَمْنَعُونَ الماعون ) أى : لا أحسنوا عبادة ربهم ، ولا أحسنوا إلى خلقه ، حتى ولا بإعارة ما ينتفع به ، ويستعان به ، مع بقاء عينه ورجوعه إليهم ، فهؤلاء لمنع الزكاة ومنع القربات أولى وأولى . .وسئل ابن مسعود عن الماعون فقال : هو ما يتعاوره الناس بينهم من الفأس والقِدْر . .وهكذا نرى السورة الكريمة قد ذمت المكذبين بيوم الدين ذما شديدا حيث وصفتهم بأقبح الصفات وأشنعها .نسأل الله - تعالى - أن يعيذنا من ذلك .وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم .

Quraysh
Quraysh · Meccan · 4 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
106:1
لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيۡشٍ ١
For the accustomed security of the Quraysh1 -

- i.e., the honor and reputation Allāh had given them as guardians of the Holy Kaʿbah, which allowed them to travel without fear of being harmed. ↩
106:2
إِۦلَٰفِهِمۡ رِحۡلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيۡفِ ٢
Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer1 -

- i.e., the trading caravans that traveled south in winter and north in summer. ↩
106:3
فَلۡيَعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٣
Let them worship the Lord of this House,1

ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٖ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفِۭ ٤
Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.
سورة الماعون
Al-Ma'un

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
107:1
أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ ١
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
107:2
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ ٢
For that is the one who drives away the orphan
107:3
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ ٣
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
107:4
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ ٤
So woe to those who pray
107:5
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِهِمۡ سَاهُونَ ٥
[But] who are heedless of their prayer1 -

- i.e., the hypocrites who are unconcerned if they miss prayers when no one sees them. ↩
107:6
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ ٦
Those who make show [of their deeds]
107:7
وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ ٧
And withhold [simple] assistance.
سورة الكوثر
Al-Kawthar
The Abundance · Meccan · 3 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
108:1
إِنَّآ أَعۡطَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ ١
Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muḥammad], al-Kawthar.
108:2
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنۡحَرۡ ٢
So pray to your Lord and offer sacrifice [to Him alone].
108:3
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلۡأَبۡتَرُ ٣
Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.1
