وَمَا ظَلَمۡنَٰهُمۡ وَلَٰكِن ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡۖ فَمَآ أَغۡنَتۡ عَنۡهُمۡ ءَالِهَتُهُمُ ٱلَّتِي يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَيۡءٖ لَّمَّا جَآءَ أَمۡرُ رَبِّكَۖ وَمَا زَادُوهُمۡ غَيۡرَ تَتۡبِيبٖ ١٠١
And We did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves. And they were not availed at all by their gods which they invoked other than Allāh when there came the command of your Lord. And they did not increase them in other than ruin.

Commentary on 11:101
قوله تعالى: ﴿وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَكِنْ ظَلَمُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ﴾، قال المفسرون [[الطبري 12/ 113، الثعلبى 7/ 56 أ، ابن عطية 7/ 394.]]: وما ظلمناهم بالعذاب والإهلاك، ولكن ظلموا أنفسهم بالكفر والمعصية.
وقال عطاء عن ابن عباس: يريد وما نقصناهم في الدنيا من النعيم ولا من الرزق، ولكن نقصوا حظ أنفسهم حيث استخفوا بحقوق الله، وقوله تعالى: ﴿فَمَا أَغْنَتْ عَنْهُمْ آلِهَتُهُمُ﴾ أي ما نفعتهم [[في (ي): (ولا).]] وما دفعت عنهم [[ساقط من (ي).]]، ﴿الَّتِي يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ﴾ أي التي يعبدون سوى الله وغيره.
وقوله تعالى: ﴿وَمَا زَادُوهُمْ غَيْرَ تَتْبِيبٍ﴾، ابن عباس [[روي هذا القول الطبرى 12/ 113 عن ابن عمر ومجاهد وقتادة. وذكره في "زاد المسير" 4/ 156 عن ابن عباس "تنوير المقباس" ص 145.]] وغيره من المفسرين [[في (ي): (قال ابن عباس والمفسرون).]] يقولون: غير تخسير، وأبو عبيدة [["مجاز القرآن" 1/ 339.]] وأهل اللغة يقولون: هو الإهلاك، والتباب الهلاك، وأحدهما قريب من الآخر، وذكرنا معنى التخسير في هذه السورة [[عند قوله تعالى ﴿فَمَا تَزِيدُونَنِي غَيْرَ تَخْسِيرٍ﴾ [هود: 63].]].
قال ابن الأنباري [[انظر: "الزاهر" 1/ 466.]]: في قوله تعالى: ﴿وَمَا زَادُوهُمْ غَيْرَ تَتْبِيبٍ﴾ قولان؛ أحدهما: (وما زادتهم عبادتها غير تتبيب) فحذفت العبادة على حذف المضاف، والآخر: أن الآلهة زادتهم بلاءً، وإن كانت من الموات؛ لأنهم ادعوا أن عبادتهم إياها [تنفعهم عند الله، فلما جرى الأمر بخلاف ما قدروا] [[ما بين المعقوفين ساقط من (ي)]] وصفها الله بأنها زادتهم بلاءً وهلاكًا وخسارًا [[ساقط من (ي).]].

11:98
يَقۡدُمُ قَوۡمَهُۥ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ فَأَوۡرَدَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡوِرۡدُ ٱلۡمَوۡرُودُ ٩٨
He will precede his people on the Day of Resurrection and lead them into the Fire; and wretched is the place to which they are led.
11:99
وَأُتۡبِعُواْ فِي هَٰذِهِۦ لَعۡنَةٗ وَيَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۚ بِئۡسَ ٱلرِّفۡدُ ٱلۡمَرۡفُودُ ٩٩
And they were followed in this [world] with a curse and on the Day of Resurrection. And wretched is the gift1 which is given.

11:100
ذَٰلِكَ مِنۡ أَنۢبَآءِ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ نَقُصُّهُۥ عَلَيۡكَۖ مِنۡهَا قَآئِمٞ وَحَصِيدٞ ١٠٠
That is from the news of the cities, which We relate to you; of them, some are [still] standing and some are [as] a harvest [mowed down].1

11:101

11:102
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَخۡذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَآ أَخَذَ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ وَهِيَ ظَٰلِمَةٌۚ إِنَّ أَخۡذَهُۥٓ أَلِيمٞ شَدِيدٌ ١٠٢
And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe.
11:103
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّمَنۡ خَافَ عَذَابَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمٞ مَّجۡمُوعٞ لَّهُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمٞ مَّشۡهُودٞ ١٠٣
Indeed in that is a sign for those who fear the punishment of the Hereafter. That is a Day for which the people will be collected, and that is a Day [which will be] witnessed.
11:104
وَمَا نُؤَخِّرُهُۥٓ إِلَّا لِأَجَلٖ مَّعۡدُودٖ ١٠٤
And We do not delay it except for a limited term.
11:105
يَوۡمَ يَأۡتِ لَا تَكَلَّمُ نَفۡسٌ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِهِۦۚ فَمِنۡهُمۡ شَقِيّٞ وَسَعِيدٞ ١٠٥
The Day it comes no soul will speak except by His permission. And among them will be the wretched and the prosperous.
11:106
فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ شَقُواْ فَفِي ٱلنَّارِ لَهُمۡ فِيهَا زَفِيرٞ وَشَهِيقٌ ١٠٦
As for those who were [destined to be] wretched, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling.1

11:107
خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ رَبُّكَۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ فَعَّالٞ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ ١٠٧
[They will be] abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will. Indeed, your Lord is an effecter of what He intends.
11:108
۞ وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ سُعِدُواْ فَفِي ٱلۡجَنَّةِ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ رَبُّكَۖ عَطَآءً غَيۡرَ مَجۡذُوذٖ ١٠٨
And as for those who were [destined to be] prosperous, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will - a bestowal uninterrupted.
