From the evil of the retreating whisperer1 -

Commentary on 114:4
٤ - ﴿مِن شَرِّ ٱلۡوَسۡوَاسِ﴾ أي: الشيطان الموسوِس، أو: ذي الوسوسة. سمّي بالحدث لكثرة ملابسته له.﴿ٱلۡخَنَّاسِ﴾ أي: المتواري المختفي الذي يخنِسُ، أي: يتأخر، إذا تيقّظ الإنسان له واستعان بذكر الله تعالى عليه.والخنّاس: كثير الخنس، وهو التأخّر.فإذا ذكر العبد الله، خنس الشيطان وانقبض، وإذا لم يذكر الله، انبسط على القلب وانتفش.روى الحافظ أبو يعلى الموصلي عن أنس بن مالك قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: «إن الشيطان واضعٌ خطمه على قلب ابن آدم، فإن ذكر الله خنس، وإن نسي التقم قلبه، فذلك الوسواس الخناس».وعن ابن عباس: الشيطان جاثم على قلب ابن آدم، فإذا سها وغفل، وسوس، وإذا ذكر الله، خنس. وفيه دلالة على أن القلب متى ذكر الله، تصاغر الشيطان وغُلب، وإن لم يذكر الله، تعاظم وغَلب.

Al-Ikhlas

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
112:1
قُلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ١
Say, "He is Allāh, [who is] One,1

ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ ٢
Allāh, the Eternal Refuge.1

- He who is absolute, perfect, complete, essential, self-sufficient and sufficient to meet the needs of all creation; the one eternally and constantly required and sought, depended upon by all existence and to whom all matters will ultimately return. ↩
112:3
لَمۡ يَلِدۡ وَلَمۡ يُولَدۡ ٣
He neither begets nor is born,
112:4
وَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدُۢ ٤
Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
سورة الفلق
Al-Falaq
The Daybreak · Meccan · 5 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
113:1
قُلۡ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلۡفَلَقِ ١
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak
113:2
مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ٢
From the evil of that which He created
113:3
وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ٣
And from the evil of darkness when it settles
113:4
وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّٰثَٰتِ فِي ٱلۡعُقَدِ ٤
And from the evil of the blowers in knots1

وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ٥
And from the evil of an envier when he envies."
سورة الناس
An-Nas

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
114:1
قُلۡ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ ١
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
114:2
مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ ٢
The Sovereign of mankind,
114:3
إِلَٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ ٣
The God of mankind,
114:4
مِن شَرِّ ٱلۡوَسۡوَاسِ ٱلۡخَنَّاسِ ٤
From the evil of the retreating whisperer1 -

ٱلَّذِي يُوَسۡوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ ٥
Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind -
114:6
مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ ٦
From among the jinn and mankind."1
