Commentary on 114:4–5
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿مِن شَرِّ الوَسْواسِ الخَنّاسِ﴾ الوَسْواسُ اسْمٌ بِمَعْنى الوَسْوَسَةِ، كالزِّلْزالِ بِمَعْنى الزَّلْزَلَةِ، وأمّا المَصْدَرُ فَوِسْواسٌ بِالكَسْرِ كَزِلْزالٍ والمُرادُ بِهِ الشَّيْطانُ سُمِّيَ بِالمَصْدَرِ، كَأنَّهُ وسْوَسَةٌ في نَفْسِهِ؛ لِأنَّها صَنْعَتُهُ وشُغْلُهُ الَّذِي هو عاكِفٌ عَلَيْهِ، نَظِيرُهُ قَوْلُهُ: ﴿إنَّهُ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صالِحٍ﴾ [هود: ٤٦] والمُرادُ ذُو الوَسْواسِ، وتَحْقِيقُ الكَلامِ في الوَسْوَسَةِ قَدْ تَقَدَّمَ في قَوْلِهِ: ﴿فَوَسْوَسَ لَهُما الشَّيْطانُ﴾ [الأعراف: ٢٠] وأمّا الخَنّاسُ فَهو الَّذِي عادَتُهُ أنْ يَخْنِسَ مَنسُوبٌ إلى الخُنُوسِ وهو التَّأخُّرُ كالعَوّاجِ والنَّفّاثاتِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ إذا ذَكَرَ الإنْسانُ رَبَّهُ خَنَسَ الشَّيْطانُ ووَلّى، فَإذا غَفَلَ وسْوَسَ إلَيْهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ في صُدُورِ النّاسِ﴾ .
اعْلَمْ أنَّ قَوْلَهُ: ﴿الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ﴾ يَجُوزُ في مَحَلِّهِ الحَرَكاتُ الثَّلاثُ فالجَرُّ عَلى الصِّفَةِ والرَّفْعُ والنَّصْبُ عَلى الشَّتْمِ، ويَحْسُنُ أنْ يَقِفَ القارِئُ عَلى الخَنّاسِ، ويَبْتَدِئَ: الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ، عَلى أحَدِ هَذَيْنِ الوَجْهَيْنِ.

Al-Ikhlas

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
112:1
قُلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ١
Say, "He is Allāh, [who is] One,1

ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ ٢
Allāh, the Eternal Refuge.1

- He who is absolute, perfect, complete, essential, self-sufficient and sufficient to meet the needs of all creation; the one eternally and constantly required and sought, depended upon by all existence and to whom all matters will ultimately return. ↩
112:3
لَمۡ يَلِدۡ وَلَمۡ يُولَدۡ ٣
He neither begets nor is born,
112:4
وَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدُۢ ٤
Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
سورة الفلق
Al-Falaq
The Daybreak · Meccan · 5 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
113:1
قُلۡ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلۡفَلَقِ ١
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak
113:2
مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ٢
From the evil of that which He created
113:3
وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ٣
And from the evil of darkness when it settles
113:4
وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّٰثَٰتِ فِي ٱلۡعُقَدِ ٤
And from the evil of the blowers in knots1

وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ٥
And from the evil of an envier when he envies."
سورة الناس
An-Nas

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
114:1
قُلۡ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ ١
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
114:2
مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ ٢
The Sovereign of mankind,
114:3
إِلَٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ ٣
The God of mankind,
114:4
مِن شَرِّ ٱلۡوَسۡوَاسِ ٱلۡخَنَّاسِ ٤
From the evil of the retreating whisperer1 -

ٱلَّذِي يُوَسۡوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ ٥
Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind -
114:6
مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ ٦
From among the jinn and mankind."1
