ٱللَّهُ يَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقۡدِرُۚ وَفَرِحُواْ بِٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَمَا ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ إِلَّا مَتَٰعٞ ٢٦
Allāh extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. And they rejoice in the worldly life, while the worldly life is not, compared to the Hereafter, except [brief] enjoyment.

Commentary on 13:26
قال أبو جعفر: يقول تعالى ذكره: الله يوسّع على من يَشاء من خلقه في رزقه, فيبسط له منه (30) لأن منهم من لا يُصْلحه إلا ذلك(ويقدر) ، يقول: ويقتِّر على من يشاء منهم في رزقه وعيشه, فيضيّقه عليه, لأنه لا يصلحه إلا الإقتار(وفرحوا بالحياة الدنيا) ، يقول تعالى ذكره: وفرح هؤلاء الذين بُسِط لهم في الدنيا من الرزق على كفرهم بالله ومعصيتهم إياه بما بسط لهم فيها، وجهلوا ما عند الله لأهل طاعته والإيمان به في الآخرة من الكرامة والنعيم .
ثم أخبر جلّ ثناؤه عن قدر ذلك في الدنيا فيما لأهل الإيمان به عنده في الآخرة وأعلم عباده قِلّته, فقال: (وما الحياة الدنيا في الآخرة إلا متاع) ، يقول: وما جميع ما أعطى هؤلاء في الدنيا من السَّعة وبُسِط لهم فيها من الرزق ورغد العيش، فيما عند الله لأهل طاعته في الآخرة(إلا متاع) قليل، وشيء حقير ذاهب . (31) كما:-
20353- حدثنا الحسن بن محمد، قال، حدثنا شبابة قال: حدثنا ورقاء, عن ابن أبي نجيح, عن مجاهد, قوله: (إلا متاع) قال: قليلٌ ذاهب .
20354- حدثني المثنى قال، حدثنا أبو حذيفة قال: حدثنا شبل, عن ابن أبي نجيح, عن مجاهد
20355- ... قال: وحدثنا إسحاق قال: حدثنا عبد الله, عن ورقاء, عن ابن أبي نجيح, عن مجاهد: (وما الحياة الدنيا في الآخرة إلا متاع) ، قال: قليلٌ ذاهب .
20356- حدثنا ابن حميد قال، حدثنا جرير, عن الأعمش, عن بكير بن الأخنس, عن عبد الرحمن بن سابط في قوله: (وفرحوا بالحياة الدنيا وما الحياة الدنيا في الآخرة إلا متاعٌ) قال: كزاد الرّاعي يُزوِّده أهله: الكفِّ من التمر, أو الشيء من الدقيق, أو الشيء يشرَبُ عليه اللبن .

13:19
۞ أَفَمَن يَعۡلَمُ أَنَّمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ٱلۡحَقُّ كَمَنۡ هُوَ أَعۡمَىٰٓۚ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ ١٩
Then is he who knows that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth like one who is blind? They will only be reminded who are people of understanding -
13:20
ٱلَّذِينَ يُوفُونَ بِعَهۡدِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَنقُضُونَ ٱلۡمِيثَٰقَ ٢٠
Those who fulfill the covenant of Allāh and do not break the contract,
13:21
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُمۡ وَيَخَافُونَ سُوٓءَ ٱلۡحِسَابِ ٢١
And those who join that which Allāh has ordered to be joined1 and fear their Lord and are afraid of the evil of [their] account,

13:22
وَٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُواْ ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنفَقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ سِرّٗا وَعَلَانِيَةٗ وَيَدۡرَءُونَ بِٱلۡحَسَنَةِ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ عُقۡبَى ٱلدَّارِ ٢٢
And those who are patient, seeking the face [i.e., acceptance] of their Lord, and establish prayer and spend from what We have provided for them secretly and publicly and prevent evil with good - those will have the good consequence of [this] home1 -

13:23
جَنَّٰتُ عَدۡنٖ يَدۡخُلُونَهَا وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنۡ ءَابَآئِهِمۡ وَأَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡ وَذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمۡۖ وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَدۡخُلُونَ عَلَيۡهِم مِّن كُلِّ بَابٖ ٢٣
Gardens of perpetual residence; they will enter them with whoever were righteous among their forefathers, their spouses and their descendants. And the angels will enter upon them from every gate, [saying],
13:24
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيۡكُم بِمَا صَبَرۡتُمۡۚ فَنِعۡمَ عُقۡبَى ٱلدَّارِ ٢٤
"Peace [i.e., security] be upon you for what you patiently endured." And excellent is the final home.
13:25
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَنقُضُونَ عَهۡدَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مِيثَٰقِهِۦ وَيَقۡطَعُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيُفۡسِدُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱللَّعۡنَةُ وَلَهُمۡ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ ٢٥
But those who break the covenant of Allāh after contracting it and sever that which Allāh has ordered to be joined and spread corruption on earth - for them is the curse, and they will have the worst home.1

13:26

13:27
وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوۡلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۚ قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهۡدِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ مَنۡ أَنَابَ ٢٧
And those who disbelieved say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, Allāh leaves astray whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him] -
13:28
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَطۡمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِۗ أَلَا بِذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطۡمَئِنُّ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ ٢٨
Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allāh. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allāh hearts are assured."
