وَلَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَٰفِلًا عَمَّا يَعۡمَلُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَۚ إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمۡ لِيَوۡمٖ تَشۡخَصُ فِيهِ ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرُ ٤٢
And never think that Allāh is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them [i.e., their account] for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror].

قوله تعالى: ﴿وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ اللَّهَ غَافِلًا عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ الظَّالِمُونَ﴾ قال ابن عباس: يريد المشركين أهل مكة [[لم أقف عليه، والتعميم أولى من التخصيص.]]، وكان سفيان بن عيينة إذا قرأ هذه الآية قال: هذا تعزية للمظلوم، ووعيد للظالم [[انظر: "الكشاف" 2/ 306، والرازي 19/ 141، والخازن 3/ 84، والألوسي 13/ 244.]].
وقوله تعالى: ﴿لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ الْأَبْصَارُ﴾ قال شمر: يقال: شخص الرجلُ بصرَه، [وشخص البصرُ نفسُه، إذا سما وطَمَح وشَصا [[انظر: "اللسان" (طمح) 5/ 2702، (شصا) 4/ 2259.]]، كلُّ ذلك مِثْلُ الشُّخُوصِ [[ورد في "تهذيب اللغة" (شخص) 2/ 1840 نقله بنصه.]].
وقال ابن السِّكِّيت: شَخَصَ بصرُهُ] [[ما بين المعقوفين ساقط من (ش).]]، إذا فتح عينيه لا يَطْرِفُ [["إصلاح المنطق" ص 263 بنصه، وورد في "تهذيب اللغة" (شخص) 2/ 1840 بنصه، والطَّرْفُ: تحريك الجُفُونِ في النظر؛ يقال شخص بصرُه فما يَطْرِفُ. انظر: "المحيط في اللغة" (طرف) 9/ 160.]].
قال الفراء: أي لا يغتمض من هول ما يرى في ذلك اليوم [[لم أجد قوله في معانيه، وورد منسوباً إليه في "تفسير القرطبي" 9/ 376، و"تفسير الشوكانى" 3/ 164، وصديق خان 7/ 130.]].
وقال ابن عباس: يريد يوم القيامة تشخص فيه أبصار الخلائق إلى الهواء، يريد: أنهم لعجائب ما يرون، ولشدة الحَيْرةِ والدووة لا يغْتَمضون [[ورد في تفسيره "الوسيط" تحقيق سيسي 1/ 334 بنصه، وانظر: "تفسير القرطبي" 9/ 376، وورد نحوه بلا نسبة في "تفسير الرازي" 19/ 141، والخازن 3/ 84، و"تفسير الشوكاني" 3/ 164، وصديق خان 7/ 130.]].

14:34
وَءَاتَىٰكُم مِّن كُلِّ مَا سَأَلۡتُمُوهُۚ وَإِن تَعُدُّواْ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحۡصُوهَآۗ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَظَلُومٞ كَفَّارٞ ٣٤
And He gave you from all you asked of Him.1 And if you should count the favor [i.e., blessings] of Allāh, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful.2
14:35
وَإِذۡ قَالَ إِبۡرَٰهِيمُ رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدَ ءَامِنٗا وَٱجۡنُبۡنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَن نَّعۡبُدَ ٱلۡأَصۡنَامَ ٣٥
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this city [i.e., Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.
14:36
رَبِّ إِنَّهُنَّ أَضۡلَلۡنَ كَثِيرٗا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِۖ فَمَن تَبِعَنِي فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنِّيۖ وَمَنۡ عَصَانِي فَإِنَّكَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ ٣٦
My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people. So whoever follows me - then he is of me;1 and whoever disobeys me - indeed, You are [yet] Forgiving and Merciful.

14:37
رَّبَّنَآ إِنِّيٓ أَسۡكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّيَّتِي بِوَادٍ غَيۡرِ ذِي زَرۡعٍ عِندَ بَيۡتِكَ ٱلۡمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِيُقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَٱجۡعَلۡ أَفۡـِٔدَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ تَهۡوِيٓ إِلَيۡهِمۡ وَٱرۡزُقۡهُم مِّنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَشۡكُرُونَ ٣٧
Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful.
14:38
رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ تَعۡلَمُ مَا نُخۡفِي وَمَا نُعۡلِنُۗ وَمَا يَخۡفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِن شَيۡءٖ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ ٣٨
Our Lord, indeed You know what we conceal and what we declare, and nothing is hidden from Allāh on the earth or in the heaven.
14:39
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي وَهَبَ لِي عَلَى ٱلۡكِبَرِ إِسۡمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسۡحَٰقَۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي لَسَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ ٣٩
Praise to Allāh, who has granted to me in old age Ishmael and Isaac. Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplication.
14:40
رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡنِي مُقِيمَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِيۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلۡ دُعَآءِ ٤٠
My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.
14:41
رَبَّنَا ٱغۡفِرۡ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلۡحِسَابُ ٤١
Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established."
14:42
