An-Nahl 16:78

وَٱللَّهُ أَخۡرَجَكُم مِّنۢ بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ شَيۡـٔٗا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ٧٨
And Allāh has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect] that perhaps you would be grateful.

Commentary on 16:78
اور اللہ نے نکالا تمھیں پیٹوں سے تمھاری ماؤں کے، نہیں جانتے تھے تم کچھ بھی، اور اسی نے بنائے تمھارے لیے کان اور آنکھیں اور دل تاکہ تم شکر کرو (78)
[78] یعنی اللہ تعالیٰ یہ نعمتیں عطا کرنے میں متفرد اور یکتا ہے۔ ﴿ اَخۡرَجَكُمۡ مِّنۢۡ بُطُوۡنِ اُمَّهٰؔتِكُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ شَيۡـًٔؔا﴾ ’’اس نے تمھیں تمھاری ماؤں کے پیٹوں سے نکالا، تم کچھ نہیں جانتے تھے‘‘ اور نہ کسی چیز پر قدرت رکھتے تھے۔ اور اس نے ﴿ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ السَّمۡعَ وَالۡاَبۡصَارَ وَالۡاَفۡـِٕدَةَ﴾ ’’تمھارے کان، آنکھیں اور دل بنائے‘‘ اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان تینوں اعضاء کا ان کے فضل و شرف کی بنا پر خاص طور پر ذکر کیا ہے، نیز اس خصوصیت کی وجہ یہ بھی ہے کہ یہ تینوں اعضاء ہر علم کی کلید ہیں ۔ صرف یہی تین دروازے ہیں جن کے ذریعے سے علم انسان تک پہنچتا ہے ورنہ تمام اعضاء اور تمام ظاہری اور باطنی قوی اللہ تعالیٰ ہی نے عطا کیے ہیں ۔ اللہ تعالیٰ ان کو نشوونما دیتا رہتا ہے حتیٰ کہ وہ اس حالت کو پہنچ جاتے ہیں جو انسان کے لائق ہوتی ہے۔ یہ سب کچھ اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس لیے عطا کیا ہے کہ وہ ان جوارح کو اللہ تعالیٰ کی اطاعت میں استعمال کر کے اللہ تعالیٰ کا شکر ادا کریں ۔ پس جو کوئی ان جوارح کو اللہ تعالیٰ کی اطاعت کے علاوہ کہیں اور استعمال کرتا ہے تو یہ جوارح اس کے خلاف حجت ہوں گے کیونکہ وہ اللہ کی نعمت کا بدترین رویے سے مقابلہ کرتا ہے۔

16:73
وَيَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَمۡلِكُ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ ٧٣
And they worship besides Allāh that which does not possess for them [the power of] provision from the heavens and the earth at all, and [in fact], they are unable.
16:74
فَلَا تَضۡرِبُواْ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعۡلَمُ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ٧٤
So do not assert similarities to Allāh.1 Indeed, Allāh knows and you do not know.

16:75
۞ ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا عَبۡدٗا مَّمۡلُوكٗا لَّا يَقۡدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءٖ وَمَن رَّزَقۡنَٰهُ مِنَّا رِزۡقًا حَسَنٗا فَهُوَ يُنفِقُ مِنۡهُ سِرّٗا وَجَهۡرًاۖ هَلۡ يَسۡتَوُۥنَۚ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ٧٥
Allāh presents an example: a slave [who is] owned and unable to do a thing and he to whom We have provided from Us good provision, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Can they be equal? Praise to Allāh! But most of them do not know.
16:76
وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلٗا رَّجُلَيۡنِ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَبۡكَمُ لَا يَقۡدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءٖ وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَىٰ مَوۡلَىٰهُ أَيۡنَمَا يُوَجِّههُّ لَا يَأۡتِ بِخَيۡرٍ هَلۡ يَسۡتَوِي هُوَ وَمَن يَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ ٧٦
And Allāh presents an example of two men, one of them dumb and unable to do a thing, while he is a burden to his guardian. Wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice, while he is on a straight path?
16:77
وَلِلَّهِ غَيۡبُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَآ أَمۡرُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ إِلَّا كَلَمۡحِ ٱلۡبَصَرِ أَوۡ هُوَ أَقۡرَبُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ ٧٧
And to Allāh belongs the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth. And the command for the Hour is not but as a glance of the eye or even nearer. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.
16:78
وَٱللَّهُ أَخۡرَجَكُم مِّنۢ بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ شَيۡـٔٗا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ٧٨

16:79
أَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ إِلَى ٱلطَّيۡرِ مُسَخَّرَٰتٖ فِي جَوِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَا يُمۡسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُؤۡمِنُونَ ٧٩
Do they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? None holds them up except Allāh. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
