An-Nahl 16:85

وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يُنظَرُونَ ٨٥
And when those who wronged see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.

Commentary on 16:84–85
شَهِيداً نبيها يشهد لهم وعليهم بالإيمان والتصديق، والكفر والتكذيب ثُمَّ لا يُؤْذَنُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا في الاعتذار. والمعنى. لا حجة لهم، فدل بترك الإذن على أن لا حجة لهم ولا عذر، وكذا عن الحسن وَلا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ ولا هم يسترضون، أى: لا يقال لهم أرضوا ربكم:
لأن الآخرة ليست بدار عمل. فإن قلت: فما معنى ثم هذه؟ قلت: معناها أنهم يمنون [[قوله «يمنون» في الصحاح: منوته ومنيته إذا ابتليته. (ع)]] بعد شهادة الأنبياء بما هو أطم منها، وهو أنهم يمنعون الكلام فلا يؤذن لهم في إلقاء معذرة ولا إدلاء بحجة. وانتصاب اليوم بمحذوف تقديره: واذكر يوم نبعث، أو يوم نبعث وقعوا فيما وقعوا فيه، وكذلك إذا رأوا العذاب بغتهم وثقل عليهم فَلا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمْ وَلا هُمْ يُنْظَرُونَ كقوله بَلْ تَأْتِيهِمْ بَغْتَةً فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ ... الآية.

16:80
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنۢ بُيُوتِكُمۡ سَكَنٗا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّن جُلُودِ ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ بُيُوتٗا تَسۡتَخِفُّونَهَا يَوۡمَ ظَعۡنِكُمۡ وَيَوۡمَ إِقَامَتِكُمۡ وَمِنۡ أَصۡوَافِهَا وَأَوۡبَارِهَا وَأَشۡعَارِهَآ أَثَٰثٗا وَمَتَٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٖ ٨٠
And Allāh has made for you from your homes a place of rest and made for you from the hides of the animals tents which you find light on your day of travel and your day of encampment; and from their wool, fur and hair is furnishing and enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time.
16:81
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّمَّا خَلَقَ ظِلَٰلٗا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ أَكۡنَٰنٗا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمۡ سَرَٰبِيلَ تَقِيكُمُ ٱلۡحَرَّ وَسَرَٰبِيلَ تَقِيكُم بَأۡسَكُمۡۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُتِمُّ نِعۡمَتَهُۥ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُسۡلِمُونَ ٨١
And Allāh has made for you, from that which He has created, shadows [i.e., shade] and has made for you from the mountains, shelters and has made for you garments which protect you from the heat and garments [i.e., coats of mail] which protect you from your [enemy in] battle. Thus does He complete His favor upon you that you might submit [to Him].
16:82
فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡبَلَٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِينُ ٨٢
But if they turn away, [O Muḥammad] - then only upon you is [responsibility for] clear notification.
16:83
يَعۡرِفُونَ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُنكِرُونَهَا وَأَكۡثَرُهُمُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ ٨٣
They recognize the favor of Allāh; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers.
16:84
وَيَوۡمَ نَبۡعَثُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٖ شَهِيدٗا ثُمَّ لَا يُؤۡذَنُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَلَا هُمۡ يُسۡتَعۡتَبُونَ ٨٤
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect from every nation a witness [i.e., their prophet]. Then it will not be permitted to the disbelievers [to apologize or make excuses], nor will they be asked to appease [Allāh].
16:85
وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يُنظَرُونَ ٨٥
And when those who wronged see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.
16:86
وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ أَشۡرَكُواْ شُرَكَآءَهُمۡ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُرَكَآؤُنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كُنَّا نَدۡعُواْ مِن دُونِكَۖ فَأَلۡقَوۡاْ إِلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ إِنَّكُمۡ لَكَٰذِبُونَ ٨٦
And when those who associated others with Allāh see their "partners," they will say, "Our Lord, these are our partners [to You] whom we used to invoke [in worship] besides You." But they will throw at them the statement, "Indeed, you are liars."
16:87
وَأَلۡقَوۡاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلسَّلَمَۖ وَضَلَّ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفۡتَرُونَ ٨٧
And they will impart to Allāh that Day [their] submission, and lost from them is what they used to invent.
