ٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ فَضَّلۡنَا بَعۡضَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖۚ وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُ أَكۡبَرُ دَرَجَٰتٖ وَأَكۡبَرُ تَفۡضِيلٗا ٢١
Look how We have favored [in provision] some of them over others. But the Hereafter is greater in degrees [of difference] and greater in distinction.

﴿انْظُرْ كَيْفَ فَضَّلْنا بَعْضَهم عَلى بَعْضٍ﴾ "كَيْفَ" في مَحَلِّ النَّصْبِ بِفَضَّلْنا عَلى الحالِيَّةِ، والمُرادُ تَوْضِيحُ ما مَرَّ مِنَ الإمْدادِ، وعَدَمُ مَحْظُورِيَّةِ العَطاءِ بِالتَّنْبِيهِ عَلى اسْتِحْضارِ مَراتِبِ أحَدِ العَطاءَيْنِ، والِاسْتِدْلالِ بِها عَلى مَراتِبِ الآخَرِ، أيِ: انْظُرْ بِنَظَرِ الِاعْتِبارِ كَيْفَ فَضَّلْنا بَعْضَهم عَلى بَعْضٍ فِيما أمْدَدْناهم بِهِ مِنَ العَطايا العاجِلَةِ، فَمِن وضِيعٍ، ورَفِيعٍ، وظالِعٍ، وضَلِيعٍ، ومالِكٍ، ومَمْلُوكٍ، ومُوسِرٍ، وصُعْلُوكٍ. تَعْرِفْ بِذَلِكَ مَراتِبَ العَطايا الآجِلَةِ، ودَرَجاتِ تَفاضُلِ أهْلِها عَلى طَرِيقَةِ الِاسْتِشْهادِ بِحالِ الأدْنى عَلى حالِ الأعْلى. كَما أفْصَحَ عَنْهُ قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿وَلَلآخِرَةُ أكْبَرُ﴾ أيْ: هي وما فِيها أكْبَرُ مِن قَدْرِها، ولا يُكْتَنَهُ كُنْهُها كَيْفَ لا، وقَدْ عُبِّرَ عَنْهُ بِما لا عَيْنٌ رَأتْ، ولا أُذُنٌ سَمِعَتْ، ولا خَطَرَ عَلى قَلْبِ بَشَرٍ؟ هَذا ويَجُوزُ أنْ يُرادَ بِما بِهِ الإمْدادُ العَطايا العاجِلَةُ فَقَطْ، ويُحْمَلُ القَصْرُ المَذْكُورُ عَلى دَفْعِ تَوَهُّمِ اخْتِصاصِها بِالفَرِيقِ الأوَّلِ، فَإنَّ تَخْصِيصَ إرادَتِهِمْ لَها، ووُصُولَهم إلَيْها بِالذِّكْرِ مِن غَيْرِ تَعَرُّضٍ لِبَيانِ النِّسْبَةِ بَيْنَها وبَيْنَ الفَرِيقِ الثّانِي، إرادَةً ووُصُولًا مِمّا تَوَهَّمَ اخْتِصاصَها بِالأوَّلِينَ، فالمَعْنى كُلُّ واحِدٍ مِنَ الفَرِيقَيْنِ نُمِدُّ بِالعَطايا العاجِلَةِ لا مَن ذَكَرْنا إرادَتَهُ لَها فَقَطْ مِنَ الفَرِيقِ الأوَّلِ مِن عَطاءِ رَبِّكَ الواسِعِ، وما كانَ عَطاؤُهُ الدُّنْيَوِيُّ مَحْظُورًا مِن أحَدٍ مِمَّنْ يُرِيدُهُ، ومِمَّنْ يُرِيدُ غَيْرَهُ انْظُرْ كَيْفَ فَضَّلْنا في ذَلِكَ العَطاءِ بَعْضَ كُلٍّ مِنَ الفَرِيقَيْنِ عَلى بَعْضٍ آخَرَ مِنهُما، ولَلْآخِرَةُ. الآيَةَ. واعْتِبارُ عَدَمِ المَحْظُورِيَّةِ بِالنِّسْبَةِ إلى الفَرِيقِ الأوَّلِ تَحْقِيقًا لِشُمُولِ الإمْدادِ لَهُ، كَما فَعَلَهُ الجُمْهُورُ. حَيْثُ قالُوا: لا يَمْنَعُهُ مِن عاصٍ لِعِصْيانِهِ يَقْتَضِي كَوْنَ القَصْرِ لِدَفْعِ تَوَهُّمِ اخْتِصاصِ الإمْدادِ الدُّنْيَوِيِّ بِالفَرِيقِ الثّانِي، مَعَ أنَّهُ لَمْ يَسْبِقْ في الكَلامِ ما يُوهِمُ ثُبُوتَهُ لَهُ، فَضْلًا عَنْ إيهامِ اخْتِصاصِهِ.

17:18
مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلۡنَا لَهُۥ فِيهَا مَا نَشَآءُ لِمَن نُّرِيدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَا لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ يَصۡلَىٰهَا مَذۡمُومٗا مَّدۡحُورٗا ١٨
Whoever should desire the immediate1 - We hasten for him from it what We will to whom We intend. Then We have made for him Hell, which he will [enter to] burn, censured and banished.

17:19
وَمَنۡ أَرَادَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ وَسَعَىٰ لَهَا سَعۡيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنٞ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ كَانَ سَعۡيُهُم مَّشۡكُورٗا ١٩
But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort due to it while he is a believer - it is those whose effort is ever appreciated [by Allāh].
17:20
كُلّٗا نُّمِدُّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مِنۡ عَطَآءِ رَبِّكَۚ وَمَا كَانَ عَطَآءُ رَبِّكَ مَحۡظُورًا ٢٠
To each [category] We extend - to these and to those - from the gift of your Lord. And never has the gift of your Lord been restricted.
17:21
ٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ فَضَّلۡنَا بَعۡضَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖۚ وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُ أَكۡبَرُ دَرَجَٰتٖ وَأَكۡبَرُ تَفۡضِيلٗا ٢١

17:22
لَّا تَجۡعَلۡ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَقۡعُدَ مَذۡمُومٗا مَّخۡذُولٗا ٢٢
Do not make [as equal] with Allāh another deity and [thereby] become censured and forsaken.
17:23
۞ وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ وَبِٱلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ إِحۡسَٰنًاۚ إِمَّا يَبۡلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ ٱلۡكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَوۡ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَآ أُفّٖ وَلَا تَنۡهَرۡهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوۡلٗا كَرِيمٗا ٢٣
And your Lord has decreed that you worship not except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff,"1 and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.

17:24
وَٱخۡفِضۡ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ ٱلذُّلِّ مِنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱرۡحَمۡهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرٗا ٢٤
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small."
17:25
رَّبُّكُمۡ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا فِي نُفُوسِكُمۡۚ إِن تَكُونُواْ صَٰلِحِينَ فَإِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِلۡأَوَّٰبِينَ غَفُورٗا ٢٥
Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves. If you should be righteous [in intention] - then indeed He is ever, to the often returning [to Him], Forgiving.1

17:26
وَءَاتِ ذَا ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ حَقَّهُۥ وَٱلۡمِسۡكِينَ وَٱبۡنَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَلَا تُبَذِّرۡ تَبۡذِيرًا ٢٦
And give the relative his right, and [also] the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully.1

17:27
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُبَذِّرِينَ كَانُوٓاْ إِخۡوَٰنَ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِۖ وَكَانَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ لِرَبِّهِۦ كَفُورٗا ٢٧
Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful.
