Al-Kahf 18:56

وَمَا نُرۡسِلُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَۚ وَيُجَٰدِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ لِيُدۡحِضُواْ بِهِ ٱلۡحَقَّۖ وَٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ ءَايَٰتِي وَمَآ أُنذِرُواْ هُزُوٗا ٥٦
And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. And those who disbelieve dispute by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth and have taken My verses, and that of which they are warned, in ridicule.

Commentary on 18:56
• ﴿وَ﴾ حرف عطف، ﴿مَا﴾ حرف نفي.
• ﴿نُرْسِلُ﴾ فعل مضارع من مزيد الرباعي باب (أَفْعَلَ)، من مادّة رسل، متكلم، جمع، مرفوع.
• ﴿ٱلْ﴾، ﴿مُرْسَلِينَ﴾ اسم مفعول مزيد الرباعي باب (أَفْعَلَ)، من مادّة رسل، مذكر، جمع، منصوب.
• ﴿إِلَّا﴾ أداة حصر.
• ﴿مُبَشِّرِينَ﴾ اسم فاعل مزيد الرباعي باب (فَعَّلَ)، من مادّة بشر، مذكر، جمع، منصوب.
• ﴿وَ﴾ حرف عطف، ﴿مُنذِرِينَ﴾ اسم فاعل مزيد الرباعي باب (أَفْعَلَ)، من مادّة نذر، مذكر، جمع، منصوب.
• ﴿وَ﴾ حرف عطف، ﴿يُجَٰدِلُ﴾ فعل مضارع من مزيد الرباعي باب (فاعَلَ)، من مادّة جدل، غائب، مذكر، مفرد، مرفوع.
• ﴿ٱلَّذِينَ﴾ اسم موصول، مذكر، جمع.
• ﴿كَفَرُ﴾ فعل ماض ثلاثي مجرد، من مادّة كفر، غائب، مذكر، جمع، ﴿وا۟﴾ ضمير، غائب، مذكر، جمع.
• ﴿بِ﴾ حرف جر، ﴿ٱلْ﴾، ﴿بَٰطِلِ﴾ اسم فاعل الثلاثي مجرد، من مادّة بطل، مذكر، مجرور.
• ﴿لِ﴾ لام التعليل، ﴿يُدْحِضُ﴾ فعل مضارع من مزيد الرباعي باب (أَفْعَلَ)، من مادّة دحض، غائب، مذكر، جمع، منصوب، ﴿وا۟﴾ ضمير، غائب، مذكر، جمع.

• ﴿أُنذِرُ﴾ فعل ماض مزيد الرباعي باب (أَفْعَلَ)، لم يسمّ فاعله، من مادّة نذر، غائب، مذكر، جمع، ﴿وا۟﴾ ضمير، غائب، مذكر، جمع.
• ﴿هُزُوًا﴾ اسم، من مادّة هزأ، مذكر، نكرة، منصوب.

18:54
وَلَقَدۡ صَرَّفۡنَا فِي هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ لِلنَّاسِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٖۚ وَكَانَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَكۡثَرَ شَيۡءٖ جَدَلٗا ٥٤
And We have certainly diversified in this Qur’ān for the people from every [kind of] example; but man has ever been, most of anything, [prone to] dispute.
18:55
وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤۡمِنُوٓاْ إِذۡ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن تَأۡتِيَهُمۡ سُنَّةُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ أَوۡ يَأۡتِيَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ قُبُلٗا ٥٥
And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples1 or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.

18:56

18:57
وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ فَأَعۡرَضَ عَنۡهَا وَنَسِيَ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُۚ إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفۡقَهُوهُ وَفِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَقۡرٗاۖ وَإِن تَدۡعُهُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰ فَلَن يَهۡتَدُوٓاْ إِذًا أَبَدٗا ٥٧
And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord but turns away from them and forgets what his hands have put forth? Indeed, We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if you invite them to guidance - they will never be guided, then - ever.
18:58
وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ذُو ٱلرَّحۡمَةِۖ لَوۡ يُؤَاخِذُهُم بِمَا كَسَبُواْ لَعَجَّلَ لَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابَۚ بَل لَّهُم مَّوۡعِدٞ لَّن يَجِدُواْ مِن دُونِهِۦ مَوۡئِلٗا ٥٨
And your Lord is the Forgiving, the possessor of mercy. If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. Rather, for them is an appointment from which they will never find an escape.
18:59
وَتِلۡكَ ٱلۡقُرَىٰٓ أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡ لَمَّا ظَلَمُواْ وَجَعَلۡنَا لِمَهۡلِكِهِم مَّوۡعِدٗا ٥٩
And those cities - We destroyed them when they wronged, and We made for their destruction an appointed time.
18:60
وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِفَتَىٰهُ لَآ أَبۡرَحُ حَتَّىٰٓ أَبۡلُغَ مَجۡمَعَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَمۡضِيَ حُقُبٗا ٦٠
And [mention] when Moses said to his boy [i.e., servant], "I will not cease [traveling] until I reach the junction of the two seas or continue for a long period."
18:61
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَا مَجۡمَعَ بَيۡنِهِمَا نَسِيَا حُوتَهُمَا فَٱتَّخَذَ سَبِيلَهُۥ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ سَرَبٗا ٦١
But when they reached the junction between them, they forgot their fish, and it took its course into the sea, slipping away.
