Commentary
(And We have bestowed Our favour on you once more - 20:37). Having bestowed His gifts and special favours on Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) such as the honour of conversation with Allah, the grant of prophethood and miracles etc. Allah Ta'ala reminds him of the benefits and favours which He had showered on him throughout his life - from his birth uptill that time and how He had saved his life from numerous risks and hazards. In relation to time, these benefits (which will be discussed in the following pages) pertain to an earlier period.

20:13
And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed [to you].
20:14

Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it1 - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives.
1 translator’s note
- Meaning that Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) keeps knowledge of the Hour hidden from everyone except Himself. ↩
20:16
So do not let one avert you from it1 who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you [then] would perish.
1 translator’s note
- From preparation for the Hour or for the Hereafter. ↩
