An-Nur 24:54

قُلۡ أَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱلرَّسُولَۖ فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيۡهِ مَا حُمِّلَ وَعَلَيۡكُم مَّا حُمِّلۡتُمۡۖ وَإِن تُطِيعُوهُ تَهۡتَدُواْۚ وَمَا عَلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِينُ ٥٤
Say, "Obey Allāh and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon him is only that [duty] with which he has been charged, and upon you is that with which you have been charged. And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [responsibility for] clear notification."

Commentary on 24:54
يقول تعالى ذكره: ( قل ) يا محمد لهؤلاء المقسمين بالله جَهْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ لَئِنْ أَمَرْتَهُمْ لَيَخْرُجُنَّ ، وغيرهم من أمتك ( أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ ) أيها القوم فيما أمركم به، ونهاكم عنه ( وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ ) فإن طاعته لله طاعة ( فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا ) يقول :فإن تعرضوا وتدبروا عما أمركم به رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، أو نهاكم عنه، وتأبوا أن تذعنوا لحكمه لكم وعليكم ( فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْهِ مَا حُمِّلَ ) يقول: فإنما عليه فعل ما أمر بفعله من تبليغ رسالة الله إليكم على ما كلَّفه من التبليغ ( وَعَلَيْكُمْ مَا حُمِّلْتُمْ ) يقول: وعليكم أيها الناس أن تفعلوا ما ألزمكم، وأوجب عليكم من اتباع رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم، والانتهاء إلى طاعته فيما أمركم ونهاكم.
وقلنا: إن قوله: ( فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا ) بمعنى فإن تتولوا، فإنه في موضع جزم; لأنه خطاب للذين أمر رسول الله بأن يقول لهم ( أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ ) يدل على أن ذلك كذلك قوله: ( وَعَلَيْكُمْ مَا حُمِّلْتُمْ ) ولو كان قوله: ( تولوا ) فعلا ماضيا على وجه الخبر عن غيب لكان في موضع قوله: ( عَلَيْهِ مَا حُمِّلَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ مَا حُمِّلْتُمْ ).
وقوله: ( وَإِنْ تُطِيعُوهُ تَهْتَدُوا ) يقول تعالى ذكره: وإن تطيعوا - أيها الناس - رسول الله - فيما يأمركم وينهاكم - ترشدوا وتصيبوا الحقّ في أموركم ( وَمَا عَلَى الرَّسُولِ إِلا الْبَلاغُ الْمُبِينُ ) يقول: وغير واجب على من أرسله الله إلى قوم برسالة إلا أن يبلغهم رسالته بلاغا يبين لهم ذلك البلاغ عما أراد الله به.
يقول فليس على محمد - أيها الناس - إلا أداء رسالة الله إليكم، وعليكم الطاعة، وإن أطعتموه (1) لحظوظ أنفسكم تصيبون، وإن عصيتموه بأنفسكم فتوبقون (2) .

24:54

24:55
وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَيَسۡتَخۡلِفَنَّهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَمَا ٱسۡتَخۡلَفَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ دِينَهُمُ ٱلَّذِي ٱرۡتَضَىٰ لَهُمۡ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ خَوۡفِهِمۡ أَمۡنٗاۚ يَعۡبُدُونَنِي لَا يُشۡرِكُونَ بِي شَيۡـٔٗاۚ وَمَن كَفَرَ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡفَٰسِقُونَ ٥٥
Allāh has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves1 after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient.

24:56
وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُرۡحَمُونَ ٥٦
And establish prayer and give zakāh and obey the Messenger - that you may receive mercy.
24:57
لَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مُعۡجِزِينَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَأۡوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُۖ وَلَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ ٥٧
Never think that the disbelievers are causing failure [to Allāh] upon the earth. Their refuge will be the Fire - and how wretched the destination.
24:58
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لِيَسۡتَـٔۡذِنكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَمۡ يَبۡلُغُواْ ٱلۡحُلُمَ مِنكُمۡ ثَلَٰثَ مَرَّٰتٖۚ مِّن قَبۡلِ صَلَوٰةِ ٱلۡفَجۡرِ وَحِينَ تَضَعُونَ ثِيَابَكُم مِّنَ ٱلظَّهِيرَةِ وَمِنۢ بَعۡدِ صَلَوٰةِ ٱلۡعِشَآءِۚ ثَلَٰثُ عَوۡرَٰتٖ لَّكُمۡۚ لَيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَلَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ جُنَاحُۢ بَعۡدَهُنَّۚ طَوَّٰفُونَ عَلَيۡكُم بَعۡضُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٞ ٥٨
O you who have believed, let those whom your right hands possess and those who have not [yet] reached puberty among you ask permission of you [before entering] at three times: before the dawn prayer and when you put aside your clothing [for rest] at noon and after the night prayer. [These are] three times of privacy1 for you. There is no blame upon you nor upon them beyond these [periods], for they continually circulate among you - some of you, among others. Thus does Allāh make clear to you the verses [i.e., His ordinances]; and Allāh is Knowing and Wise.
