أَمَّن جَعَلَ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ قَرَارٗا وَجَعَلَ خِلَٰلَهَآ أَنۡهَٰرٗا وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَجَعَلَ بَيۡنَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ حَاجِزًاۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ٦١
Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allāh? [No], but most of them do not know.

Commentary on 27:59–61
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿قُلِ الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ﴾ هَذا خِطابٌ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، أُمِرَ أنْ يَحْمَدَ اللَّهَ عَلى هَلاكِ الأُمَمِ الكافِرَةِ، وقِيلَ: عَلى جَمِيعِ نِعَمِهِ، ﴿وَسَلامٌ عَلى عِبادِهِ، الَّذِينَ اصْطَفى﴾ فِيهِمْ أرْبَعَةُ أقْوالٍ.
أحَدُها: الرُّسُلُ، رَواهُ أبُو صالِحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبّاسٍ. ورَوى عَنْهُ عِكْرِمَةُ، قالَ: اصْطَفى إبْراهِيمَ بِالخُلَّةِ، ومُوسى بِالكَلامِ، ومُحَمَّدًا بِالرُّؤْيَةِ.
(p-١٨٥)والثّانِي: أنَّهم أصْحابُ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ، رَواهُ أبُو مالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبّاسٍ. وبِهِ قالَ السُّدِّيُّ.
والثّالِثُ: أنَّهُمُ الَّذِينَ وحَّدُوهُ وآَمَنُوا بِهِ، رَواهُ عَطاءٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبّاسٍ.
والرّابِعُ: أنَّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ، قالَهُ ابْنُ السّائِبِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿آللَّهُ خَيْرٌ أمّا يُشْرِكُونَ﴾ قالَ أبُو عُبَيْدَةَ: مَجازُهُ: أوْ ما يُشْرِكُونَ، وهَذا خِطابٌ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ؛ والمَعْنى: اللَّهُ خَيْرٌ لِمَن عَبْدَهُ، أمِ الأصْنامُ لِعابِدِيها؟! ومَعْنى الكَلامِ: أنَّهُ لَمّا قَصَّ عَلَيْهِمْ قَصَصَ الأُمَمِ الخالِيَةِ، أخْبَرَهم أنَّهُ نَجّى عابِدِيهِ، ولَمْ تُغْنِ الأصْنامُ عَنْهم.
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿أمَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّماواتِ﴾ تَقْدِيرُهُ: أما يُشْرِكُونَ خَيْرٌ، أمَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّماواتِ ﴿والأرْضَ وأنْزَلَ لَكم مِنَ السَّماءِ ماءً فَأنْبَتْنا بِهِ حَدائِقَ ذاتَ بَهْجَةٍ﴾ ؟! فَأمّا الحَدائِقُ، فَقالَ ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ: هي البَساتِينُ، واحِدُها: حَدِيقَةٌ، سُمِّيَتْ بِذَلِكَ لِأنَّهُ يُحْدِقُ عَلَيْها، أيْ: يَحْظُرُ، والبَهْجَةُ: الحَسَنُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿ما كانَ لَكم أنْ تُنْبِتُوا شَجَرَها﴾ أيْ: ما يَنْبَغِي لَكم ذَلِكَ [لِأنَّكُمْ] لا تَقْدِرُونَ عَلَيْهِ. ثُمَّ قالَ مُسْتَفْهِمًا مُنْكِرًا عَلَيْهِمْ: ﴿أإلَهٌ مَعَ اللَّهِ﴾؟! أيْ: لَيْسَ مَعَهُ (p-١٨٦)إلَهٌ ﴿بَلْ هُمْ﴾ يَعْنِي: كُفّارَ مَكَّةَ ﴿قَوْمٌ يَعْدِلُونَ﴾ وقَدْ شَرَحْناهُ في فاتِحَةِ (الأنْعامِ) . ﴿أمَّنْ جَعَلَ الأرْضَ قَرارًا﴾ أيْ: مُسْتَقَرًّا لا تَمِيدُ بِأهْلِها ﴿وَجَعَلَ خِلالَها﴾ أيْ: فِيما بَيْنَها ﴿أنْهارًا وجَعَلَ لَها رَواسِيَ﴾ أيْ: جِبالًا ثَوابِتَ ﴿وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ البَحْرَيْنِ حاجِزًا﴾ أيْ: مانِعًا مِن قُدْرَتِهِ بَيْنَ العَذْبِ والمِلْحِ أنْ يَخْتَلِطا، ﴿بَلْ أكْثَرُهم لا يَعْلَمُونَ﴾ قَدْرُ عَظَمَةِ اللَّهِ.

27:56
۞ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓاْ أَخۡرِجُوٓاْ ءَالَ لُوطٖ مِّن قَرۡيَتِكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُمۡ أُنَاسٞ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ ٥٦
But the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure."
27:57
فَأَنجَيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَٰهَا مِنَ ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ ٥٧
So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We destined her to be of those who remained behind.
27:58
وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم مَّطَرٗاۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ ٥٨
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
27:59
قُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصۡطَفَىٰٓۗ ءَآللَّهُ خَيۡرٌ أَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ ٥٩
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Praise be to Allāh, and peace upon His servants whom He has chosen. Is Allāh better or what they associate with Him?"
27:60
أَمَّنۡ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا بِهِۦ حَدَآئِقَ ذَاتَ بَهۡجَةٖ مَّا كَانَ لَكُمۡ أَن تُنۢبِتُواْ شَجَرَهَآۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ يَعۡدِلُونَ ٦٠
[More precisely], is He [not best] who created the heavens and the earth and sent down for you rain from the sky, causing to grow thereby gardens of joyful beauty which you could not [otherwise] have grown the trees thereof? Is there a deity with Allāh?1 [No], but they are a people who ascribe equals [to Him].

27:61

27:62
أَمَّن يُجِيبُ ٱلۡمُضۡطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكۡشِفُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَيَجۡعَلُكُمۡ خُلَفَآءَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ٦٢
Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth?1 Is there a deity with Allāh? Little do you remember.

27:63
أَمَّن يَهۡدِيكُمۡ فِي ظُلُمَٰتِ ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ وَمَن يُرۡسِلُ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ بُشۡرَۢا بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡ رَحۡمَتِهِۦٓۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ تَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ ٦٣
Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allāh? High is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.
