وَيَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلۡعَذَابِ وَلَوۡلَآ أَجَلٞ مُّسَمّٗى لَّجَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ وَلَيَأۡتِيَنَّهُم بَغۡتَةٗ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ ٥٣
And they urge you to hasten the punishment. And if not for [the decree of] a specified term, punishment would have reached them. But it will surely come to them suddenly while they perceive not.

Commentary on 29:53
وقوله - عز وجل - : ( وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بالعذاب . . . ) بيان للون آخر من ألوان انطماس بصيرة هؤلاء الكافرين ، ومن سفاهاتهم وجهالاتهم . أى : أن هؤلاء المشكرين لم يكتفوا تبكذيبك - أيها الرسول الكريم - بل أضافوا إلى ذلك ، التطاول عليك ، لسوء أدبهم ، وعدم فهمهم لوظيفتك . بدليل أنهم يطلبون منك أن تنزل عليهم العذاب بعجلة وبدون إبطاء ، على سبيل التحدى لك . كما قالوا فى موطن آخر : ( اللهم إِن كَانَ هذا هُوَ الحق مِنْ عِندِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِّنَ السمآء أَوِ ائتنا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ) ثم يبين الله - تعالى - حكمته فى تأخير عذابه عنهم إلى حين فيقول : ( وَلَوْلاَ أَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى لَّجَآءَهُمُ العذاب . . . ) . أى : يستعجلك المشركون يا محمد فى نزول العذاب بهم ، والحق أنه لولا أجل مسمى ، ووقت معين ، حدده الله - تعالى - فى علمه لنزول العذاب بهم ، لجاءهم العذاب فى الوقت الذى طلبوه ، بدون إبطاء أو تأخير .ومع ذلك فقل لهم - أيها الرسول الكريم - إن هذا العذاب آت لا ريب فيه فى الوقت الذى يشاؤه الله - تعالى - ، وإن هذا العذاب المدمر المهلك : ( لَيَأْتِيَنَّهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ ) أى : ليحلن عليهم فجأة وبدون مقدمات ، والحال أنهم لا يشعرون به ، بل ياتيهم بغتة فيبهتهم ، ويستأصل شأفتهم .

يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلۡعَذَابِ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةُۢ بِٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٥٤
They urge you to hasten the punishment. And indeed, Hell will be encompassing of the disbelievers
29:55
يَوۡمَ يَغۡشَىٰهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ مِن فَوۡقِهِمۡ وَمِن تَحۡتِ أَرۡجُلِهِمۡ وَيَقُولُ ذُوقُواْ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ٥٥
On the Day the punishment will cover them from above them and from below their feet and it is said, "Taste [the result of] what you used to do."
29:56
يَٰعِبَادِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّ أَرۡضِي وَٰسِعَةٞ فَإِيَّٰيَ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ٥٦
O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me.
29:57
كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيۡنَا تُرۡجَعُونَ ٥٧
Every soul will taste death. Then to Us will you be returned.
29:58
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ غُرَفٗا تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۚ نِعۡمَ أَجۡرُ ٱلۡعَٰمِلِينَ ٥٨
And those who have believed and done righteous deeds - We will surely assign to them of Paradise [elevated] chambers beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers
29:59
ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُواْ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ ٥٩
Who have been patient and upon their Lord rely.
29:60
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن دَآبَّةٖ لَّا تَحۡمِلُ رِزۡقَهَا ٱللَّهُ يَرۡزُقُهَا وَإِيَّاكُمۡۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ ٦٠
And how many a creature carries not its [own] provision. Allāh provides for it and for you. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
29:61
وَلَئِن سَأَلۡتَهُم مَّنۡ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ يُؤۡفَكُونَ ٦١
If you asked them, "Who created the heavens and earth and subjected the sun and the moon?" they would surely say, "Allāh." Then how are they deluded?
29:62
ٱللَّهُ يَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَقۡدِرُ لَهُۥٓۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٞ ٦٢
Allāh extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts for him. Indeed Allāh is, of all things, Knowing.
29:63
وَلَئِن سَأَلۡتَهُم مَّن نَّزَّلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَحۡيَا بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَوۡتِهَا لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُۚ قُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ ٦٣
And if you asked them, "Who sends down rain from the sky and gives life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness?" they would surely say, "Allāh." Say, "Praise to Allāh"; but most of them do not reason.
