هَٰذَا بَيَانٞ لِّلنَّاسِ وَهُدٗى وَمَوۡعِظَةٞ لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ ١٣٨
This [Qur’ān] is a clear statement to [all] the people and a guidance and instruction for those conscious of Allāh.

Commentary on 3:138
﴿هَذا بَيانٌ لِلنّاسِ وهُدًى ومَوْعِظَةٌ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ﴾ قالَ الحَسَنُ وقَتادَةُ وابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ والرَّبِيعُ: الإشارَةُ إلى القُرْآنِ. وقِيلَ: الإشارَةُ إلى قَوْلِهِ: ”﴿قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكم سُنَنٌ﴾ [آل عمران: ١٣٧]“ . قالَهُ ابْنُ إسْحاقَ، والطَّبَرِيُّ، وجَماعَةٌ. أيْ هَذا تَفْسِيرٌ لِلنّاسِ إنْ قَبِلُوهُ. وقالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ: هَذا بَيانٌ لِلنّاسِ مِنَ العَمى. وقالَ الزَّمَخْشَرِيُّ: هَذا بَيانٌ لِلنّاسِ، إيضاحٌ لِسُوءِ عاقِبَةِ ما هم عَلَيْهِ مِنَ التَّكْذِيبِ. يَعْنِي حَثَّهم عَلى النَّظَرِ في سُوءِ عَواقِبِ المُكَذِّبِينَ قَبْلَهم، والِاعْتِبارَ بِما يُعايِنُونَ مِن آثارِ هَلاكِهِمْ. ”﴿وهُدًى ومَوْعِظَةٌ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ﴾“ يَعْنِي: أنَّهُ مَعَ كَوْنِهِ بَيانًا وتَنْبِيهًا لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ فَهو زِيادَةٌ وتَثْبِيتٌ ومَوْعِظَةٌ لِلَّذِينِ اتَّقَوْا مِنَ المُؤْمِنِينَ. ويَجُوزُ أنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ خَلَتْ جُمْلَةٌ مُعْتَرِضَةٌ لِلْبَعْثِ عَلى الإيمانِ، وما يَسْتَحِقُّ بِهِ ما ذَكَرَ مِن أجْرِ العامِلِينَ. ويَكُونُ قَوْلُهُ: ”﴿هَذا بَيانٌ﴾“ إشارَةٌ إلى ما لَخَّصَ وبَيَّنَ مِن أمْرِ المُتَّقِينَ والتّائِبِينَ والمُصِرِّينَ. انْتَهى كَلامُهُ. وهو حَسَنٌ. ولَمّا كانَ ظاهِرًا واضِحًا قالَ: بَيانٌ لِلنّاسِ. ولَمّا كانَتِ المَوْعِظَةُ والهُدى لا يَكُونانِ إلّا لِمَنِ اتَّقى خَصَّ بِذَلِكَ المُتَّقِينَ؛ لِأنَّ مَن عَمى فِكْرُهُ وقَسا فُؤادُهُ لا يَهْتَدِي ولا يَتَّعِظُ، فَلا يُناسِبُ أنْ يُضافَ إلَيْهِ الهُدى والمَوْعِظَةُ.

3:133
۞ وَسَارِعُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَغۡفِرَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرۡضُهَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ أُعِدَّتۡ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ ١٣٣
And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden [i.e., Paradise] as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous
3:134
ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِي ٱلسَّرَّآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَٱلۡكَٰظِمِينَ ٱلۡغَيۡظَ وَٱلۡعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ ١٣٤
Who spend [in the cause of Allāh] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allāh loves the doers of good;
3:135
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُواْ فَٰحِشَةً أَوۡ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ ذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ فَٱسۡتَغۡفَرُواْ لِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَمَن يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَلَمۡ يُصِرُّواْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلُواْ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ ١٣٥
And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allāh and seek forgiveness for their sins - and who can forgive sins except Allāh? - and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know.
3:136
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم مَّغۡفِرَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡ وَجَنَّٰتٞ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۚ وَنِعۡمَ أَجۡرُ ٱلۡعَٰمِلِينَ ١٣٦
Those - their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow [in Paradise], wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers.
3:137
قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ سُنَنٞ فَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ١٣٧
Similar situations [as yours] have passed on before you, so proceed throughout the earth and observe how was the end of those who denied.
3:138
هَٰذَا بَيَانٞ لِّلنَّاسِ وَهُدٗى وَمَوۡعِظَةٞ لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ ١٣٨
This [Qur’ān] is a clear statement to [all] the people and a guidance and instruction for those conscious of Allāh.
3:139
وَلَا تَهِنُواْ وَلَا تَحۡزَنُواْ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَوۡنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ ١٣٩
So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.
3:140
إِن يَمۡسَسۡكُمۡ قَرۡحٞ فَقَدۡ مَسَّ ٱلۡقَوۡمَ قَرۡحٞ مِّثۡلُهُۥۚ وَتِلۡكَ ٱلۡأَيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيۡنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعۡلَمَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَيَتَّخِذَ مِنكُمۡ شُهَدَآءَۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ١٤٠
If a wound should touch you - there has already touched the [opposing] people a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people so that Allāh may make evident those who believe and [may] take to Himself from among you martyrs - and Allāh does not like the wrongdoers -
