زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ مِنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلۡبَنِينَ وَٱلۡقَنَٰطِيرِ ٱلۡمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ وَٱلۡفِضَّةِ وَٱلۡخَيۡلِ ٱلۡمُسَوَّمَةِ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ وَٱلۡحَرۡثِۗ ذَٰلِكَ مَتَٰعُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسۡنُ ٱلۡمَـَٔابِ ١٤
Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire - of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allāh has with Him the best return [i.e., Paradise].

Commentary on 3:14
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿والخَيْلِ المُسَوَّمَةِ والأنْعامِ﴾، لَمْ يُبَيِّنْ هُنا كَمْ يَدْخُلُ تَحْتَ لَفْظِ الأنْعامِ مِنَ الأصْنافِ.
وَلَكِنَّهُ قَدْ بَيَّنَ في مَواضِعَ أُخَرَ أنَّها ثَمانِيَةُ أصْنافٍ هي الجَمَلُ، والنّاقَةُ، والثَّوْرُ، والبَقَرَةُ، والكَبْشُ، والنَّعْجَةُ، والتَّيْسُ، والعَنْزُ كَقَوْلِهِ تَعالى: ﴿وَمِنَ الأنْعامِ حَمُولَةً وفَرْشًا﴾ [الأنعام: ١٤٢]، ثُمَّ بَيَّنَ الأنْعامَ بِقَوْلِهِ: ﴿ثَمانِيَةَ أزْواجٍ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ اثْنَيْنِ﴾ [الأنعام: ١٤٣]، يَعْنِي الكَبْشَ والنَّعْجَةَ: ﴿وَمِنَ المَعْزِ اثْنَيْنِ﴾، يَعْنِي: التَّيْسَ والعَنْزَ إلى قَوْلِهِ: ﴿وَمِنَ الإبِلِ اثْنَيْنِ﴾ [الأنعام: ١٤٤] يَعْنِي: الجَمَلَ والنّاقَةَ، ﴿وَمِنَ البَقَرِ اثْنَيْنِ﴾، يَعْنِي: الثَّوْرَ والبَقَرَةَ وهَذِهِ الثَّمانِيَةُ هي المُرادَّةُ بِقَوْلِهِ: ﴿وَأنْزَلَ لَكم مِنَ الأنْعامِ ثَمانِيَةَ أزْواجٍ﴾ [الزمر: ٦]، وهي المُشارُ إلَيْها بِقَوْلِهِ: ﴿فاطِرُ السَّماواتِ والأرْضِ جَعَلَ لَكم مِن أنْفُسِكم أزْواجًا ومِنَ الأنْعامِ أزْواجًا﴾ (p-١٩٩)الآيَةَ [الشورى: ١١] .
تَنْبِيهٌ:
رُبَّما أطْلَقَتِ العَرَبُ لَفْظَ النَّعَمِ عَلى خُصُوصِ الإبِلِ، ومِنهُ قَوْلُهُ ﷺ: «مِن حُمُرِ النَّعَمِ» يَعْنِي: الإبِلَ. وقَوْلُ حَسّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: [ الوافِرِ ]
؎وَكانَتْ لا يَزالُ بِها أنِيسٌ خِلالَ مُرُوجِها نَعَمٌ وشاءُ
أيْ: إبِلٌ وشاءُ.

3:10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَن تُغۡنِيَ عَنۡهُمۡ أَمۡوَٰلُهُمۡ وَلَآ أَوۡلَٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيۡـٔٗاۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ وَقُودُ ٱلنَّارِ ١٠
Indeed, those who disbelieve - never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allāh at all. And it is they who are fuel for the Fire.
3:11
كَدَأۡبِ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ ١١
[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and those before them. They denied Our signs, so Allāh seized them for their sins. And Allāh is severe in penalty.
3:12
قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ سَتُغۡلَبُونَ وَتُحۡشَرُونَ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَۖ وَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمِهَادُ ١٢
Say to those who disbelieve, "You will be overcome and gathered together to Hell, and wretched is the resting place."
3:13
قَدۡ كَانَ لَكُمۡ ءَايَةٞ فِي فِئَتَيۡنِ ٱلۡتَقَتَاۖ فِئَةٞ تُقَٰتِلُ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَأُخۡرَىٰ كَافِرَةٞ يَرَوۡنَهُم مِّثۡلَيۡهِمۡ رَأۡيَ ٱلۡعَيۡنِۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُؤَيِّدُ بِنَصۡرِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبۡرَةٗ لِّأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرِ ١٣
Already there has been for you a sign in the two armies which met [in combat at Badr] - one fighting in the cause of Allāh and another of disbelievers. They saw them [to be] twice their [own] number by [their] eyesight.1 But Allāh supports with His victory whom He wills. Indeed in that is a lesson for those of vision.

- The believers saw the disbelievers to be double their own number preceding the battle of Badr, while, in fact, they were three times their number. ↩
3:14

3:15
۞ قُلۡ أَؤُنَبِّئُكُم بِخَيۡرٖ مِّن ذَٰلِكُمۡۖ لِلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوۡاْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ جَنَّٰتٞ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَأَزۡوَٰجٞ مُّطَهَّرَةٞ وَرِضۡوَٰنٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ ١٥
Say, "Shall I inform you of [something] better than that? For those who fear Allāh will be gardens in the presence of their Lord beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and purified spouses and approval from Allāh. And Allāh is Seeing [i.e., aware] of [His] servants -
