Ali 'Imran 3:178

وَلَا يَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَنَّمَا نُمۡلِي لَهُمۡ خَيۡرٞ لِّأَنفُسِهِمۡۚ إِنَّمَا نُمۡلِي لَهُمۡ لِيَزۡدَادُوٓاْ إِثۡمٗاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ ١٧٨
And let not those who disbelieve ever think that [because] We extend their time [of enjoyment] it is better for them. We only extend it for them so that they may increase in sin, and for them is a humiliating punishment.

Commentary on 3:178
اور نہ گمان کریں کافر کہ بے شک جو ڈھیل دے رہے ہیں ہم ان کو، وہ بہتر ہے ان کی جانوں کے لیے، ہم تو صرف مہلت دیتے ہیں ان کو تاکہ زیادہ ہو جائیں وہ گناہ میں اور واسطے ان کے عذاب ہے رسوا کرنے والا(178)
[178] وہ لوگ جو اپنے رب کے ساتھ کفر کرتے ہیں، اس کے دین کو دور پھینکتے ہیں اور اس کے رسولﷺکے خلاف جنگ کرتے ہیں، یہ نہ سمجھیں کہ ہمارا ان کو اس دنیا میں چھوڑ دینا، ان کا استیصال نہ کرنا اور ان کو مہلت دینا، ان کے لیے بہتر ہے اور ہم ان سے محبت کرتے ہیں۔ ہرگز نہیں، معاملہ ایسا نہیں جیسا وہ سمجھتے ہیں۔ یہ مہلت دینا تو ان کے حق میں برا ہے ان کی سزا اور عذاب میں اور اضافہ ہو گا اس لیے اللہ تعالیٰ نے فرمایا:﴿ اِنَّمَا نُمۡلِيۡ لَهُمۡ لِيَزۡدَادُوۡۤا اِثۡمًا١ۚ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ مُّهِيۡنٌ ﴾ ’’ہم تو انھیں اس لیے مہلت دیتے ہیں تاکہ وہ گناہوں میں اور ترقی کریں اور ان کے لیے رسوا کن عذاب ہے‘‘ پس اللہ تعالیٰ ظالم کو ڈھیل دیتا ہے یہاں تک کی اس کی سرکشی بڑھ جاتی ہے اس کے رویے میں پے در پے کفر کا اظہار ہوتا ہے۔ پھر وہ اس کو غالب اور مقتدر ہستی کی مانند پکڑ لیتا ہے۔ پس ظالموں کو اس مہلت سے ڈرنا چاہیے اور وہ یہ نہ سمجھ لیں کہ وہ اس بڑی اور بلند ہستی کی پکڑ سے رہ جائیں گے۔
Page 73
3:174
فَٱنقَلَبُواْ بِنِعۡمَةٖ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَضۡلٖ لَّمۡ يَمۡسَسۡهُمۡ سُوٓءٞ وَٱتَّبَعُواْ رِضۡوَٰنَ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو فَضۡلٍ عَظِيمٍ ١٧٤
So they returned with favor from Allāh and bounty, no harm having touched them. And they pursued the pleasure of Allāh, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.
3:175
إِنَّمَا ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ يُخَوِّفُ أَوۡلِيَآءَهُۥ فَلَا تَخَافُوهُمۡ وَخَافُونِ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ ١٧٥
That is only Satan who frightens [you] of his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers.
3:176
وَلَا يَحۡزُنكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِي ٱلۡكُفۡرِۚ إِنَّهُمۡ لَن يَضُرُّواْ ٱللَّهَ شَيۡـٔٗاۚ يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَلَّا يَجۡعَلَ لَهُمۡ حَظّٗا فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ ١٧٦
And do not be grieved, [O Muḥammad], by those who hasten into disbelief. Indeed, they will never harm Allāh at all. Allāh intends that He should give them no share in the Hereafter, and for them is a great punishment.
3:177
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشۡتَرَوُاْ ٱلۡكُفۡرَ بِٱلۡإِيمَٰنِ لَن يَضُرُّواْ ٱللَّهَ شَيۡـٔٗاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ ١٧٧
Indeed, those who purchase disbelief [in exchange] for faith - never will they harm Allāh at all, and for them is a painful punishment.
3:178

3:179
مَّا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَذَرَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَنتُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ حَتَّىٰ يَمِيزَ ٱلۡخَبِيثَ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبِۗ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُطۡلِعَكُمۡ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَجۡتَبِي مِن رُّسُلِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۖ فَـَٔامِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦۚ وَإِن تُؤۡمِنُواْ وَتَتَّقُواْ فَلَكُمۡ أَجۡرٌ عَظِيمٞ ١٧٩
Allāh would not leave the believers in that [state] you are in [presently] until He separates the evil from the good. Nor would Allāh reveal to you the unseen. But [instead], Allāh chooses of His messengers whom He wills, so believe in Allāh and His messengers. And if you believe and fear Him, then for you is a great reward.
3:180
وَلَا يَحۡسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَبۡخَلُونَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ هُوَ خَيۡرٗا لَّهُمۖ بَلۡ هُوَ شَرّٞ لَّهُمۡۖ سَيُطَوَّقُونَ مَا بَخِلُواْ بِهِۦ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۗ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَٰثُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرٞ ١٨٠
And let not those who [greedily] withhold what Allāh has given them of His bounty ever think that it is better for them. Rather, it is worse for them. Their necks will be encircled by what they withheld on the Day of Resurrection. And to Allāh belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth. And Allāh, of what you do, is [fully] Aware.
