إِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡإِسۡلَٰمُۗ وَمَا ٱخۡتَلَفَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡعِلۡمُ بَغۡيَۢا بَيۡنَهُمۡۗ وَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلۡحِسَابِ ١٩
Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allāh is Islām. And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in the verses of Allāh, then indeed, Allāh is swift in [taking] account.

Commentary on 3:19
بے شک دین اللہ کے نزدیک اسلام ہی ہےاور نہیں اختلاف کیا ان لوگوں نے جو دیے گئے کتاب مگر بعد اس کے کہ آگیا ان کے پاس (صحیح) علم، سرکشی کرتے ہوئے آپس میں، اور جو کوئی کفر کرے ساتھ اللہ کی آیات کے، تو بے شک اللہ جلد حساب لینے والا ہے(19) پھر اگر وہ جھگڑا کریں آپ سے تو کہہ دیجیے، جھکا دیا میں نے اپنا چہرہ اللہ کے لیےاور (انھوں نے بھی) جنھوں نے اتباع کیا میرا، اور کہہ دیجیے ان لوگوں سے جو دیے گئے کتاب اور ان پڑھوں سے، کیا تم اسلام لاتے ہو؟ پھر اگر وہ اسلام قبول کر لیں تو یقیناً وہ ہدایت پا گئے اور اگر وہ منہ پھیریں تو یقینا ً آپ کے ذمے (صرف پیغام) پہنچا دیناہے،اور اللہ خوب دیکھنے والا ہے اپنے بندوں کو (20)
[19] جب یہ ثابت ہوگیا کہ معبود برحق صرف اللہ ہی ہے، تب یہ بتایا کہ کس طرح عبادت کرنا، اور کس دین کو قبول کرنا ضروری ہے۔ وہ دین اسلام ہے ’’اسلام‘‘ کا مطلب ’’سرتسلیم خم کرنا‘‘ ہے، یعنی اللہ کی توحید اور اطاعت جس کی دعوت اس کے رسولوں نے دی، جس کی ترغیب اس کی کتابوں نے دی۔ اس کے سوا کوئی دین قبول نہیں، اس میں یہ بھی شامل ہے کہ محبت، خوف، امید، انابت اور دعا خالصتاً اس کے لیے ہو اور اس مقصد کے لیے اس کے رسول کی پیروی کی جائے۔ یہی تمام رسولوں کا دین ہے ۔ جو ان کی پیروی کرے گا، وہ ان کے راستے پر ہوگا۔

3:16
ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ١٦
Those who say, 'Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire,' "
3:17
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ وَٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ وَٱلۡقَٰنِتِينَ وَٱلۡمُنفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُسۡتَغۡفِرِينَ بِٱلۡأَسۡحَارِ ١٧
The patient, the true, the obedient, those who spend [in the way of Allāh], and those who seek forgiveness before dawn.
3:18
شَهِدَ ٱللَّهُ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَأُوْلُواْ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ قَآئِمَۢا بِٱلۡقِسۡطِۚ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ ١٨
Allāh witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge - [that He is] maintaining [creation] in justice. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
3:19

3:20
فَإِنۡ حَآجُّوكَ فَقُلۡ أَسۡلَمۡتُ وَجۡهِيَ لِلَّهِ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَنِۗ وَقُل لِّلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡأُمِّيِّـۧنَ ءَأَسۡلَمۡتُمۡۚ فَإِنۡ أَسۡلَمُواْ فَقَدِ ٱهۡتَدَواْۖ وَّإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡبَلَٰغُۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ ٢٠
So if they argue with you, say, "I have submitted myself to Allāh [in Islām], and [so have] those who follow me." And say to those who were given the Scripture and [to] the unlearned,1 "Have you submitted yourselves?" And if they submit [in Islām], they are rightly guided; but if they turn away - then upon you is only the [duty of] notification. And Allāh is Seeing of [His] servants.

3:21
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكۡفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقۡتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ بِغَيۡرِ حَقّٖ وَيَقۡتُلُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأۡمُرُونَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ٢١
Those who disbelieve in the signs of Allāh and kill the prophets without right and kill those who order justice from among the people - give them tidings of a painful punishment.
3:22
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ حَبِطَتۡ أَعۡمَٰلُهُمۡ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَ ٢٢
They are the ones whose deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and for them there will be no helpers.
