بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

مِن قَبۡلُ هُدٗى لِّلنَّاسِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانَۗ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ شَدِيدٞۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٞ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ ٤
Before, as guidance for the people. And He revealed the Criterion [i.e., the Qur’ān]. Indeed, those who disbelieve in the verses of Allāh will have a severe punishment, and Allāh is Exalted in Might, the Owner of Retribution.1

Commentary on 3:4
اَلْقَوْلُ في تَأْوِيلِ قَوْلِهِ تَعالى:
[ ٤ ] ﴿مِن قَبْلُ هُدًى لِلنّاسِ وأنْـزَلَ الفُرْقانَ إنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآياتِ اللَّهِ لَهم عَذابٌ شَدِيدٌ واللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ ذُو انْتِقامٍ﴾ .
﴿مِن قَبْلُ﴾ مُتَعَلِّقٌ بـ: (أنْزَلَ)، أيْ: أنْزَلَهُما مِن قَبْلِ تَنْزِيلِ الكِتابِ، والتَّصْرِيحُ بِهِ مَعَ ظُهُورِ الأمْرِ، لِلْمُبالَغَةِ في البَيانِ: ﴿هُدًى لِلنّاسِ﴾ أيْ: لِقَوْمِ مُوسى وعِيسى. أوْ ما هو أعَمُّ، لِأنَّ هَذِهِ الأُمَّةَ مُتَعَبَّدَةٌ بِما لَمْ يُنْسَخْ مِنَ الشَّرائِعِ: ﴿وأنْـزَلَ الفُرْقانَ﴾ وهو الكُتُبُ السَّماوِيَّةُ الَّتِي ذَكَرَها، لِأنَّ كُلَّها فُرْقانٌ يُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ الحَقِّ والباطِلِ. أوْ هو القُرْآنُ. وإنَّما كَرَّرَ ذِكْرَهُ بِما هو نَعْتٌ لَهُ، ومَدْحٌ لَهُ، مِن كَوْنِهِ فارِقًا بَيْنَ الحَقِّ والباطِلِ، بَعْدَما ذَكَرَهُ بِاسْمِ الجِنْسِ، تَعْظِيمًا لِشَأْنِهِ، وإظْهارًا لِفَضْلِهِ، قالَ الرّازِيُّ: أوْ يُقالُ: إنَّهُ تَعالى أعادَ ذِكْرَهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ أنَّهُ أنْزَلَهُ بَعْدَ التَّوْراةِ والإنْجِيلِ، لِيَجْعَلَهُ فَرْقًا بَيْنَ ما اخْتَلَفَ فِيهِ اليَهُودُ والنَّصارى مِنَ الحَقِّ والباطِلِ. وعَلى هَذا التَّقْدِيرِ فَلا تِكْرارَ. ثُمَّ اسْتَظْهَرَ حَمْلَ الفُرْقانِ عَلى المُعْجِزاتِ الَّتِي قَرَنَها اللَّهُ تَعالى بِإنْزالِ هَذِهِ الكُتُبِ الفارِقَةِ بَيْنَ دَعْواهم ودَعْوى الكَذّابِينَ. قالَ: فالفُرْقانُ هو المُعْجِزُ القاهِرُ الَّذِي يَدُلُّ عَلى صِحَّتِها، ويُفِيدُ الفَرْقَ بَيْنَها وبَيْنَ سائِرِ الكُتُبِ المُخْتَلِفَةِ. انْتَهى.
ويَجُوزُ أنْ يَكُونَ المُرادُ بِالفُرْقانِ: (المِيزانُ) المُشارُ إلَيْهِ في قَوْلِهِ تَعالى: ﴿لَقَدْ أرْسَلْنا رُسُلَنا بِالبَيِّناتِ وأنْـزَلْنا مَعَهُمُ الكِتابَ والمِيزانَ لِيَقُومَ النّاسُ بِالقِسْطِ﴾ [الحديد: ٢٥] والمِيزانُ: هو العَدْلُ في الأُمُورِ كُلِّها؛ واللَّفْظُ مِمّا يَشْمَلُ ذَلِكَ كُلَّهُ لِتَلاقِيها في المَعْنى.
(p-٧٥١)﴿إنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآياتِ اللَّهِ﴾ أيْ: جَحَدُوا بِها: ﴿لَهُمْ﴾ بِسَبَبِ كُفْرِهِمْ بِها: ﴿عَذابٌ شَدِيدٌ﴾ وهَذا الوَعِيدُ، جِيءَ بِهِ إثْرَ ما تَقَدَّمَ حَمْلًا عَلى الإذْعانِ، وزَجْرًا عَنْ العِصْيانِ: ﴿واللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ﴾ لا يُغالَبُ يَفْعَلُ ما يَشاءُ: ﴿ذُو انْتِقامٍ﴾ أيْ: مُعاقَبَةٍ، يُقالُ: انْتَقَمَ اللَّهُ مِنهُ: عاقَبَهُ. والنِّقْمَةُ: المُكافَأةُ بِالعُقُوبَةِ.

3:2
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡحَيُّ ٱلۡقَيُّومُ ٢
Allāh - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining.1

3:3
نَزَّلَ عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ مُصَدِّقٗا لِّمَا بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةَ وَٱلۡإِنجِيلَ ٣
He has sent down upon you, [O Muḥammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
3:4

3:5
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَخۡفَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ شَيۡءٞ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ ٥
Indeed, from Allāh nothing is hidden in the earth nor in the heaven.
3:6
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُصَوِّرُكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡحَامِ كَيۡفَ يَشَآءُۚ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ ٦
It is He who forms you in the wombs however He wills. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
3:7
هُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ مِنۡهُ ءَايَٰتٞ مُّحۡكَمَٰتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَٰبِهَٰتٞۖ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمۡ زَيۡغٞ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَٰبَهَ مِنۡهُ ٱبۡتِغَآءَ ٱلۡفِتۡنَةِ وَٱبۡتِغَآءَ تَأۡوِيلِهِۦۖ وَمَا يَعۡلَمُ تَأۡوِيلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُۗ وَٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ فِي ٱلۡعِلۡمِ يَقُولُونَ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ كُلّٞ مِّنۡ عِندِ رَبِّنَاۗ وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلَّآ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ ٧
It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muḥammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific.1 As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allāh. But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding,

3:8
رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغۡ قُلُوبَنَا بَعۡدَ إِذۡ هَدَيۡتَنَا وَهَبۡ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحۡمَةًۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡوَهَّابُ ٨
[Who say], "Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.1

3:9
رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ جَامِعُ ٱلنَّاسِ لِيَوۡمٖ لَّا رَيۡبَ فِيهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُخۡلِفُ ٱلۡمِيعَادَ ٩
Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which there is no doubt. Indeed, Allāh does not fail in His promise."
