Ali 'Imran 3:89

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصۡلَحُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٌ ٨٩
Except for those who repent after that1 and correct themselves. For indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

Commentary on 3:89
﴿إِلَّا ٱلَّذِینَ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ذَ ٰلِكَ وَأَصۡلَحُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمٌ ٨٩﴾ - تفسير
١٣٦٣٤- عن عبد الله بن عباس -من طريق عطاء- في قوله: ﴿كيف يهدي الله قوما كفروا بعد إيمانهم﴾ إلى قوله: ﴿والناس أجمعين﴾: ثم استثنى، فقال: ﴿إلا الذين تابوا من بعد ذلك وأصلحوا فإن الله غفور رحيم﴾[[أخرجه ابن أبي حاتم ٢/٧٠١، وابن المنذر ١/٢٨٠ من طريق ابن جريج، وعثمان بن عطاء.]]. (ز)
١٣٦٣٥- عن مكحول الدمشقي، نحو ذلك. غير أنّه قال: ثم تلافاهم الله برحمته، فقال: ﴿إلا الذين تابوا﴾[[علَّقه ابن أبي حاتم ٢/٧٠١.]]. (ز)
١٣٦٣٦- عن قتادة بن دِعامة -من طريق شَيْبان النحوي- قوله: ﴿وأصلحوا﴾، قال: أصلحوا ما بينهم وبين الله ورسوله[[أخرجه ابن أبي حاتم ٢/٧٠١.]]. (ز)
١٣٦٣٧- عن مقاتل بن حيان -من طريق بُكَيْر بن معروف- قوله: ﴿فإن الله غفور رحيم﴾: يغفر لهم ما كان في شركهم إذا أسلموا[[أخرجه ابن أبي حاتم ٢/٧٠١.]]. (ز)
١٣٦٣٨- قال مقاتل بن سليمان: ﴿إلا الذين تابوا﴾ فلا يُعَذَّبون ﴿من بعد ذلك﴾ يعني: من بعد الكفر، ﴿وأصلحوا﴾ في العمل فيما بقي، ﴿فإن الله غفور﴾ لكفره، ﴿رحيم﴾ به فيما بقي[[تفسير مقاتل بن سليمان ١/٢٨٩.]]. (ز)

3:84
قُلۡ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيۡنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَىٰٓ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسۡحَٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوبَ وَٱلۡأَسۡبَاطِ وَمَآ أُوتِيَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَٱلنَّبِيُّونَ مِن رَّبِّهِمۡ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيۡنَ أَحَدٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ وَنَحۡنُ لَهُۥ مُسۡلِمُونَ ٨٤
Say, "We have believed in Allāh and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants [al-Asbāṭ], and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him."
3:85
وَمَن يَبۡتَغِ غَيۡرَ ٱلۡإِسۡلَٰمِ دِينٗا فَلَن يُقۡبَلَ مِنۡهُ وَهُوَ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ مِنَ ٱلۡخَٰسِرِينَ ٨٥
And whoever desires other than Islām as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.
3:86
كَيۡفَ يَهۡدِي ٱللَّهُ قَوۡمٗا كَفَرُواْ بَعۡدَ إِيمَٰنِهِمۡ وَشَهِدُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱلرَّسُولَ حَقّٞ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتُۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٨٦
How shall Allāh guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and had witnessed that the Messenger is true and clear signs had come to them? And Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.
3:87
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ جَزَآؤُهُمۡ أَنَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ لَعۡنَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجۡمَعِينَ ٨٧
Those - their recompense will be that upon them is the curse of Allāh and the angels and the people, all together,
3:88
خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا لَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنۡهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمۡ يُنظَرُونَ ٨٨
Abiding eternally therein. The punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved,
3:89
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصۡلَحُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٌ ٨٩
Except for those who repent after that1 and correct themselves. For indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

3:90
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بَعۡدَ إِيمَٰنِهِمۡ ثُمَّ ٱزۡدَادُواْ كُفۡرٗا لَّن تُقۡبَلَ تَوۡبَتُهُمۡ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٩٠
Indeed, those who disbelieve [i.e., reject the message] after their belief and then increase in disbelief - never will their [claimed] repentance be accepted, and they are the ones astray.
3:91
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَمَاتُواْ وَهُمۡ كُفَّارٞ فَلَن يُقۡبَلَ مِنۡ أَحَدِهِم مِّلۡءُ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَهَبٗا وَلَوِ ٱفۡتَدَىٰ بِهِۦٓۗ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَ ٩١
Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers - never would the [whole] capacity of the earth in gold be accepted from one of them if he would [seek to] ransom himself with it. For those there will be a painful punishment, and they will have no helpers.
