وَمَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِيٍّ إِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ٧
But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.

Commentary on 43:6–8
اور کتنے ہی بھیجے ہم نے نبی پہلے لوگوں میں(6) اور نہیں آتا ان کے پاس کوئی نبی مگر تھے وہ اس کے ساتھ ٹھٹھا ہی کرتے(7) پس ہلاک کر دیا ہم نے ان سے کہیں زیادہ زور آور لوگوں کو اور گزر چکی ہے مثال پہلے لوگوں کی(8)
[8-6] اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے کہ مخلوق میں ہماری سنت یہ ہے کہ ہم انھیں مہمل اور بیکار نہیں چھوڑتے ۔ پس کتنے ہی﴿وَؔكَمۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَا مِنۡ نَّبِيٍّ فِي الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ﴾ ’’نبی ہم نے پہلے لوگوں میں بھیجے۔‘‘ جو انھیں اللہ واحد کی عبادت کا حکم دیتے تھے جس کا کوئی شریک نہیں۔ تمام قوموں میں تکذیب ہمیشہ سے موجود رہی ہے۔ ﴿وَمَا يَاۡتِيۡهِمۡ مِّنۡ نَّبِيٍّ اِلَّا كَانُوۡا بِهٖ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُوۡنَ۠ ﴾ ان کے پاس جو بھی نبی آیا وہ اس کی دعوت کا انکار اور حق کے مقابلے میں تکبر کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے اس کا تمسخر اڑاتے تھے۔ ﴿فَاَهۡلَكۡنَاۤ اَشَدَّ مِنۡهُمۡ ﴾ ’’پس ہم نے انھیں ہلاک کیا جو سخت تھے۔‘‘ ان لوگوں سے ﴿بَطۡشًا ﴾ ’’قوت میں‘‘ یعنی زمین کے اندر قوت، افعال اور آثار کے لحاظ سے ﴿وَّمَضٰى مَثَلُ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ ﴾ یعنی ان لوگوں کی امثال و اخبار گزر چکی ہیں اور ان میں سے بہت سی مثالیں ہم تمھارے سامنے بیان کر چکے ہیں جن میں سامان عبرت اور تکذیب پر زجروتوبیخ ہے۔

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ رُوحٗا مِّنۡ أَمۡرِنَاۚ مَا كُنتَ تَدۡرِي مَا ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ وَلَا ٱلۡإِيمَٰنُ وَلَٰكِن جَعَلۡنَٰهُ نُورٗا نَّهۡدِي بِهِۦ مَن نَّشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَاۚ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهۡدِيٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ ٥٢
And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command [i.e., the Qur’ān]. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muḥammad], you guide to a straight path -
42:53
صِرَٰطِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَلَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ تَصِيرُ ٱلۡأُمُورُ ٥٣
The path of Allāh, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Unquestionably, to Allāh do [all] matters evolve [i.e., return].

43:1

43:2
وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ ٢
By the clear Book,
43:3
إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَٰهُ قُرۡءَٰنًا عَرَبِيّٗا لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ ٣
Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’ān that you might understand.
43:4
وَإِنَّهُۥ فِيٓ أُمِّ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَدَيۡنَا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ ٤
And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book1 with Us, exalted and full of wisdom.2
43:5
أَفَنَضۡرِبُ عَنكُمُ ٱلذِّكۡرَ صَفۡحًا أَن كُنتُمۡ قَوۡمٗا مُّسۡرِفِينَ ٥
Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people?
43:6
وَكَمۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن نَّبِيّٖ فِي ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ٦
And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples,
43:7
وَمَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِيٍّ إِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ٧
But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.
43:8
فَأَهۡلَكۡنَآ أَشَدَّ مِنۡهُم بَطۡشٗا وَمَضَىٰ مَثَلُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ٨
And We destroyed greater than them1 in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.

43:9
وَلَئِن سَأَلۡتَهُم مَّنۡ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ خَلَقَهُنَّ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ ٩
And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing,"
43:10
ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَهۡدٗا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمۡ فِيهَا سُبُلٗا لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تَهۡتَدُونَ ١٠
[The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided
