فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذَنُوبٗا مِّثۡلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصۡحَٰبِهِمۡ فَلَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ ٥٩
And indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their companions [i.e., predecessors], so let them not impatiently urge Me.

Commentary on 51:59
﴿فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا﴾ قال مقاتل: يعني مشركي مكة [[انظر: "تفسير مقاتل" 128 أ.]]. ﴿ذَنُوبًا﴾ الذَّنوب في كلام العرب: الدلو العظيم.
أنشد الفراء:
إنَّا إذا نَازَعَنَا سَرَيْت ... لنا ذَنُوبٌ من نَدَاك ذنوب [[البيت لرؤبة. انظر: "ديوانه" ص 132، "أمالي ابن الشجري" 2/ 181، "شرح المفصل" 5/ 48، "المفضليات" 696، "تهذيب اللغة" 14/ 438، "اللسان" 1/ 1079 (ذنب).]]
وأنشد المبرد لعلقمة بن عبدة:
وفي كلِّ حَيٍّ قد خَبَطْتَ بنِعْمَةٍ ... فحُقَّ لِشَأسٍ من نَداك ذَنُوبُ [[البيت في "ديوان علقمة" ص 48، الكتاب 4/ 471، "شرح المفصل" 5/ 48، "المفضليات" ص 396، "المذكر والمؤنث" ص 337، "الإيضاح في شرح المفصل" 2/ 516، "المصنف" 2/ 332، وشأس هو أخو علقمة. والبيت من قصيدة يمدح بها الحارث بن شمر الغساني.]]
قال ابن قتيبة: كانوا يستقون فيكون لكل واحد ذنوب، فحمل الذنوب مكان الحظ والنصيب [[انظر: "تأويل المشكل" 150، "تفسير غريب القرآن" 423.]]، وبهذا جاء التفسير. قال أبو إسحاق: يعني: نصيباً من العذاب، مثل نصيب أصحابهم الذين أهلكوا نحو قوم نوح، وعاد، وثمود [[انظر: "معاني القرآن" 5/ 59.]]. وعبارة المفسرين مختلفة في تفسير الذنوب، والأصل ما ذكرنا، قال قتادة، ومقاتل، وأبو العالية: عذابًا مثل عذاب أصحابهم [[انظر: "تفسير مقاتل" 128 أ، "تفسير عبد الرزاق" 2/ 245. وهو المروي عن ابن عباس. انظر: "تنوير المقباس" 5/ 279، "جامع البيان" 27/ 9.]].
وقال مجاهد: سجلاً. وقال إبراهيم: طرفًا [[انظر: "جامع البيان" 27/ 9.]].
قوله تعالى: ﴿فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ﴾ أي بالعذاب، يعني أنهم أخِّروا إلى يوم القيامة، يدل على ذلك قوله:

كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُواْ سَاحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٌ ٥٢
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."
51:53
أَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِهِۦۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ طَاغُونَ ٥٣
Did they suggest it to them?1 Rather, they [themselves] are a transgressing people.

51:54
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِمَلُومٖ ٥٤
So leave them, [O Muḥammad], for you are not to be blamed.
51:55
وَذَكِّرۡ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٥٥
And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.
51:56
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ ٥٦
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
51:57
مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنۡهُم مِّن رِّزۡقٖ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطۡعِمُونِ ٥٧
I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me.
51:58
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلۡقُوَّةِ ٱلۡمَتِينُ ٥٨
Indeed, it is Allāh who is the [continual] Provider,1 the firm possessor of strength.

51:59

And woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
52:1
وَٱلطُّورِ ١
By the mount
52:2
وَكِتَٰبٖ مَّسۡطُورٖ ٢
And [by] a Book inscribed1

فِي رَقّٖ مَّنشُورٖ ٣
In parchment spread open
52:4
وَٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡمُورِ ٤
And [by] the frequented House1

52:5
وَٱلسَّقۡفِ ٱلۡمَرۡفُوعِ ٥
And [by] the ceiling [i.e., heaven] raised high
52:6
وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ ٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ ٦
And [by] the sea set on fire,1

52:7
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٞ ٧
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.
52:8
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٖ ٨
Of it there is no preventer.
52:9
يَوۡمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوۡرٗا ٩
On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion
52:10
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ سَيۡرٗا ١٠
And the mountains will pass on, departing1 -

52:11
فَوَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ١١
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,
52:12
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي خَوۡضٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ ١٢
Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.
52:13
يَوۡمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا ١٣
The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],
52:14
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ١٤
"This is the Fire which you used to deny.
