Commentary on 52:4
(والبيت المعمور) بكثرة الغاشية والأهل والزوار من الملائكة قيل: هو في السماء السابعة، وقيل: في سماء الدنيا وقيل: هو الكعبة فعلى القولين الأولين يكون وصفه بالعمارة باعتبار من يدخل إليه من الملائكة، ويعبد الله فيه، وعلى القول الثالث يكون وصفه بالعمارة حقيقة أو مجازاً باعتبار كثرة من يتعبد فيه من بني آدم، وقيل: هو في السماء الثالثة أو السادسة أو الرابعة، فهذه أقوال ستة في محل البيت المعمور.
" وعن أنس قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: البيت المعمور في السماء السابعة يدخله كل يوم سبعون ألف ملك لا يعودون إليه حتى تقوم الساعة [[رواه الحاكم.]] " أخرجه ابن جرير وابن المنذر والحاكم وصححه وابن مردويه والبيهقي في الشعب.
وفي الصحيحين وغيرهمما: " أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال في حديث الإسراء. بعد مجاوزته إلى السماء السابعة: ثم رفع إليَّ البيت المعمور، وإذا هو يدخله كل يوم سبعون ألف ملك لا يعودون إليه ".
وعن أبي الطفيل أن ابن الكواء سأل علياً عن البيت المعمور فقال: ذلك الضراح بيت فوق سبع سموات تحت العرش، يدخله كل يوم سبعون ألف ملك، ثم لا يعودون إليه أبداً إلى يوم القيامة، ونحوه عن ابن عباس.
" وعن ابن عمر رفعه: أن البيت المعمور لبحيال الكعبة لو سقط منه شيء لسقط عليها، يصلي فيه كل يوم سبعون ألفاً ثم لا يعودون إليه "، وعن ابن عباس نحوه وضعف إسناده السيوطي.

51:52
كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُواْ سَاحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٌ ٥٢
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."
51:53
أَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِهِۦۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ طَاغُونَ ٥٣
Did they suggest it to them?1 Rather, they [themselves] are a transgressing people.

51:54
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِمَلُومٖ ٥٤
So leave them, [O Muḥammad], for you are not to be blamed.
51:55
وَذَكِّرۡ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٥٥
And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.
51:56
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ ٥٦
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
51:57
مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنۡهُم مِّن رِّزۡقٖ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطۡعِمُونِ ٥٧
I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me.
51:58
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلۡقُوَّةِ ٱلۡمَتِينُ ٥٨
Indeed, it is Allāh who is the [continual] Provider,1 the firm possessor of strength.

51:59
فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذَنُوبٗا مِّثۡلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصۡحَٰبِهِمۡ فَلَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ ٥٩
And indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their companions [i.e., predecessors], so let them not impatiently urge Me.
51:60
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن يَوۡمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ ٦٠
And woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
52:1
وَٱلطُّورِ ١
By the mount
52:2
وَكِتَٰبٖ مَّسۡطُورٖ ٢
And [by] a Book inscribed1

فِي رَقّٖ مَّنشُورٖ ٣
In parchment spread open
52:4
وَٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡمُورِ ٤
And [by] the frequented House1

وَٱلسَّقۡفِ ٱلۡمَرۡفُوعِ ٥
And [by] the ceiling [i.e., heaven] raised high
52:6
وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ ٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ ٦
And [by] the sea set on fire,1

52:7
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٞ ٧
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.
52:8
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٖ ٨
Of it there is no preventer.
52:9
يَوۡمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوۡرٗا ٩
On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion
52:10
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ سَيۡرٗا ١٠
And the mountains will pass on, departing1 -

52:11
فَوَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ١١
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,
52:12
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي خَوۡضٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ ١٢
Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.
52:13
يَوۡمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا ١٣
The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],
52:14
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ١٤
"This is the Fire which you used to deny.
