Commentary on 52:4
قوله: ﴿وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ﴾ روى أنس عن النبي -ﷺ- قال: "البيت المعمور في السماء السابعة، يدخله كل يوم سبعون ألف ملك، ثم لا يعودون إليه حتى تقوم الساعة" [[أخرجه ابن جرير في "تفسيره" 27/ 11، وابن المنذر، وابن مردويه، والحاكم في "المستدرك" 2/ 468 وقال: هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين ولم يخرجاه، والبيهقي في "شعب الإيمان". وانظر: "الدر" 6/ 117.]].
وقال ابن عباس: البيت المعمور في السماء بحيال الكعبة، يحجه كل يوم سبعون ألف [[في (ك): (ألف) ساقطة.]] ملك يسمى الصُّراح [[انظر: "تنوير المقباس" 5/ 281، "الكشف البيان" 11/ 193 ب، "الوسيط" 4/ 14، "الجامع لأحكام القرآن" 17/ 59.]]. ونحو هذا قال جماعة المفسرين [[انظر: "تفسير مجاهد" 2/ 624، "تفسير مقاتل" 128 أ، "جامع البيان" 27/ 11، "تفسير ابن كثير" 4/ 239، قال: وكذا قال عكرمة ومجاهد وغير واحد من السلف.]]، إلا الحسن فقد روي عنه أنه قال: هو الكعبة. ومعنى ﴿الْمَعْمُورِ﴾ أنه معمور بكثرة الغاشية والزائرين [[انظر: "الكشف البيان" 11/ 194 أ - ب، "الجامع لأحكام القرآن" 17/ 60، "فتح القدير" 5/ 94، "روح المعاني" 27/ 27.]].
قال مقاتل: عمارته أنه يدخله كل يوم سبعون ألف ملك يصلون فيه [[انظر: "تفسير مقاتل" 128 أ.]]. وقال الكلبي: المعمور بالملائكة. قال: وهو بيت في السماء السادسة، بناه آدم فرفع أيام الطوفان [[انظر: "تنوير المقباس" 5/ 281، "معاني القرآن" للفراء 3/ 91.]].
وروى عطاء عن ابن عباس أنه في السماء الدنيا [[انظر: "الجامع لأحكام القرآن" 17/ 60، عن الربيع بن أنس.]]. قال: وكان ابن عباس يقول: لله في السموات والأرضين خمسة عشر بيتًا، كل واحد يحاذي صاحبه، سبعة على الأرضين وسبعة في السموات. والكعبة الخامس عشر [[انظر: "الجامع لأحكام القرآن" 17/ 60.]].

51:52
كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُواْ سَاحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٌ ٥٢
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."
51:53
أَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِهِۦۚ بَلۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ طَاغُونَ ٥٣
Did they suggest it to them?1 Rather, they [themselves] are a transgressing people.

51:54
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِمَلُومٖ ٥٤
So leave them, [O Muḥammad], for you are not to be blamed.
51:55
وَذَكِّرۡ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٥٥
And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.
51:56
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ ٥٦
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
51:57
مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنۡهُم مِّن رِّزۡقٖ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطۡعِمُونِ ٥٧
I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me.
51:58
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلۡقُوَّةِ ٱلۡمَتِينُ ٥٨
Indeed, it is Allāh who is the [continual] Provider,1 the firm possessor of strength.

51:59
فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذَنُوبٗا مِّثۡلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصۡحَٰبِهِمۡ فَلَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِ ٥٩
And indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their companions [i.e., predecessors], so let them not impatiently urge Me.
51:60
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن يَوۡمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ ٦٠
And woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised.

52:1
وَٱلطُّورِ ١
By the mount
52:2
وَكِتَٰبٖ مَّسۡطُورٖ ٢
And [by] a Book inscribed1

فِي رَقّٖ مَّنشُورٖ ٣
In parchment spread open
52:4
وَٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡمُورِ ٤
And [by] the frequented House1

وَٱلسَّقۡفِ ٱلۡمَرۡفُوعِ ٥
And [by] the ceiling [i.e., heaven] raised high
52:6
وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ ٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ ٦
And [by] the sea set on fire,1

52:7
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٞ ٧
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.
52:8
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٖ ٨
Of it there is no preventer.
52:9
يَوۡمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوۡرٗا ٩
On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion
52:10
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ سَيۡرٗا ١٠
And the mountains will pass on, departing1 -

52:11
فَوَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ١١
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,
52:12
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي خَوۡضٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ ١٢
Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.
52:13
يَوۡمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا ١٣
The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],
52:14
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ١٤
"This is the Fire which you used to deny.
