بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
An-Najm 53:56

هَٰذَا نَذِيرٞ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ ٥٦
This [Prophet (ﷺ)] is a warner from [i.e., like] the former warners.

Commentary on 53:56
وقوله: ( هَذَا نَذِيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الأولَى ) اختلف أهل التأويل في معنى قوله جل ثناؤه لمحمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ( هَذَا نَذِيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الأولَى ) ووصفه إياه بأنه من النذر الأولى وهو آخرهم, فقال بعضهم: معنى ذلك: أنه نذير لقومه, وكانت النذر الذين قبله نُذرا لقومهم, كما يقال: هذا واحد من بني آدم, وواحد من الناس.
* ذكر من قال ذلك:
حدثنا ابن عبد الأعلى, قال: ثنا ابن ثور, عن معمر, عن قتادة, في قوله ( هَذَا نَذِيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الأولَى ) قال: أنذر محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم كما أنذرت الرسل من قبله.
حدثنا بشر, قال: ثنا يزيد, قال: ثنا سعيد, عن قتادة, قوله ( هَذَا نَذِيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الأولَى) إنما بعث محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم بما بعث الرسل قبله.
حدثنا أبو كُرَيب, قال: ثنا ابن يمان, عن شريك, عن جابر, عن أبي جعفر ( هَذَا نَذِيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الأولَى ) قال: هو محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم .
وقال آخرون: معنى ذلك غير هذا كله, وقالوا: معناه هذا الذي أنذرتكم به أيها القوم من الوقائع التي ذكرت لكم أني أوقعتها بالأمم قبلكم من النذر التي أنذرتها الأمم قبلكم في صحف إبراهيم وموسى.
* ذكر من قال ذلك:
حدثنا ابن حُميد. قال: ثنا مهران, عن سفيان, عن إسماعيل, عن &; 22-557 &; أبي مالك ( هَذَا نَذِيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الأولَى ) قال: مما أنذروا به قومهم في صحف إبراهيم وموسى.
وهذا الذي ذكرت، عن أبي مالك أشبه بتأويل الآية, وذلك أن الله تعالى ذكره ذكر ذلك في سياق الآيات التي أخبر عنها أنها في صحف إبراهيم وموسى نذير من النُّذر الأولى التي جاءت الأمم قبلكم كما جاءتكم، فقوله ( هَذَا ) بأن تكون إشارة إلى ما تقدمها من الكلام أولى وأشبه منه بغير ذلك.

53:45
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰ ٤٥
And that He creates the two mates - the male and female -
53:46
مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ إِذَا تُمۡنَىٰ ٤٦
From a sperm-drop when it is emitted
53:47
وَأَنَّ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰ ٤٧
And that [incumbent] upon Him is the other [i.e., next] creation.
53:48
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغۡنَىٰ وَأَقۡنَىٰ ٤٨
And that it is He who enriches and suffices
53:49
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعۡرَىٰ ٤٩
And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius1

وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهۡلَكَ عَادًا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ ٥٠
And that He destroyed the first [people of] ʿAad
53:51
وَثَمُودَاْ فَمَآ أَبۡقَىٰ ٥١
And Thamūd - and He did not spare [them] -
53:52
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٖ مِّن قَبۡلُۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ هُمۡ أَظۡلَمَ وَأَطۡغَىٰ ٥٢
And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing.
53:53
وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَةَ أَهۡوَىٰ ٥٣
And the overturned towns1 He hurled down

53:54
فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ ٥٤
And covered them by that which He covered.1

53:55
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ ٥٥
Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt?
53:56
هَٰذَا نَذِيرٞ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ ٥٦
This [Prophet (ﷺ)] is a warner from [i.e., like] the former warners.
53:57
أَزِفَتِ ٱلۡأٓزِفَةُ ٥٧
The Approaching Day has approached.
53:58
لَيۡسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ ٥٨
Of it, [from those] besides Allāh, there is no remover.
53:59
أَفَمِنۡ هَٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِيثِ تَعۡجَبُونَ ٥٩
Then at this statement do you wonder?
53:60
وَتَضۡحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبۡكُونَ ٦٠
And you laugh and do not weep
53:61
وَأَنتُمۡ سَٰمِدُونَ ٦١
While you are proudly sporting?1

53:62
فَٱسۡجُدُواْۤ لِلَّهِۤ وَٱعۡبُدُواْ۩ ٦٢
So prostrate to Allāh and worship [Him].
سورة القمر
Al-Qamar
The Moon · Meccan · 55 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
54:1
ٱقۡتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلۡقَمَرُ ١
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].1

- This was a sign given by Allāh to Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) when the Quraysh challenged him to show them a miracle. ↩
54:2
وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ ءَايَةٗ يُعۡرِضُواْ وَيَقُولُواْ سِحۡرٞ مُّسۡتَمِرّٞ ٢
And if they see a sign [i.e., miracle], they turn away and say, "Passing magic."1

54:3
وَكَذَّبُواْ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡۚ وَكُلُّ أَمۡرٖ مُّسۡتَقِرّٞ ٣
And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.
54:4
وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزۡدَجَرٌ ٤
And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence.
54:5
حِكۡمَةُۢ بَٰلِغَةٞۖ فَمَا تُغۡنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ ٥
Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].
54:6
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡۘ يَوۡمَ يَدۡعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيۡءٖ نُّكُرٍ ٦
So leave them, [O Muḥammad]. The Day the Caller1 calls to something forbidding,
