بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
An-Najm 53:58

لَيۡسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ ٥٨
Of it, [from those] besides Allāh, there is no remover.

Commentary on 53:58
أي لا يدفعها إذا من دون الله أحد ولا يطلع على علمها سواه والنذير الحذر لما يعاين من الشر الذي يخشى وقوعه فيمن أنذرهم كما قال "إني نذير لكم بين يدي عذاب شديد" وفي الحديث "أنا النذير العريان" أي الذي أعجله شدة ما عاين من الشر عن أن يلبس عليه شيئا بل بادر إلى إنذار قومه قبل ذلك فجاءهم عريانا مسرعا وهو مناسب لقوله "أزفت الآزفة" أي اقتربت القريبة يعني يوم القيامة كما قال في أول السورة التي بعدها "اقتربت الساعة" وقال الإمام أحمد حدثنا أنس بن عياض حدثني أبو حاتم لا أعلم إلا عن سهل بن سعد قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم "إياكم ومحقرات الذنوب فإنما مثل محقرات الذنوب كمثل قوم نزلوا ببطن واد فجاء ذا بعود وجاء ذا بعود حتى أنضجوا خبزتهم وإن محقرات الذنوب متى يؤخذ بها صاحبها تهلكة" وقال أبو حازم: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال أبو نضرة لا أعلم إلا عن سهل بن سعد قال "مثلي ومثل الساعة كهاتين" وفرق بين أصبعيه الوسطى والتي تلي الإبهام ثم قال "مثلي ومثل الساعة كمثل فرسي رهان" ثم قال "مثلي ومثل الساعة كمثل رجل بعثه قومه طليعة فلما خشي أن يسبق ألاح بثوبه أتيتم أتيتم" ثم يقول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم "أنا ذلك" وله شواهد من وجوه أخر من صحاح وحسان.

53:45
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰ ٤٥
And that He creates the two mates - the male and female -
53:46
مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ إِذَا تُمۡنَىٰ ٤٦
From a sperm-drop when it is emitted
53:47
وَأَنَّ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰ ٤٧
And that [incumbent] upon Him is the other [i.e., next] creation.
53:48
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغۡنَىٰ وَأَقۡنَىٰ ٤٨
And that it is He who enriches and suffices
53:49
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعۡرَىٰ ٤٩
And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius1

وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهۡلَكَ عَادًا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ ٥٠
And that He destroyed the first [people of] ʿAad
53:51
وَثَمُودَاْ فَمَآ أَبۡقَىٰ ٥١
And Thamūd - and He did not spare [them] -
53:52
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٖ مِّن قَبۡلُۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ هُمۡ أَظۡلَمَ وَأَطۡغَىٰ ٥٢
And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing.
53:53
وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَةَ أَهۡوَىٰ ٥٣
And the overturned towns1 He hurled down

53:54
فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ ٥٤
And covered them by that which He covered.1

53:55
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ ٥٥
Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt?
53:56
هَٰذَا نَذِيرٞ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ ٥٦
This [Prophet (ﷺ)] is a warner from [i.e., like] the former warners.
53:57
أَزِفَتِ ٱلۡأٓزِفَةُ ٥٧
The Approaching Day has approached.
53:58
لَيۡسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ ٥٨
Of it, [from those] besides Allāh, there is no remover.
53:59
أَفَمِنۡ هَٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِيثِ تَعۡجَبُونَ ٥٩
Then at this statement do you wonder?
53:60
وَتَضۡحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبۡكُونَ ٦٠
And you laugh and do not weep
53:61
وَأَنتُمۡ سَٰمِدُونَ ٦١
While you are proudly sporting?1

53:62
فَٱسۡجُدُواْۤ لِلَّهِۤ وَٱعۡبُدُواْ۩ ٦٢
So prostrate to Allāh and worship [Him].
سورة القمر
Al-Qamar
The Moon · Meccan · 55 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
54:1
ٱقۡتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلۡقَمَرُ ١
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].1

- This was a sign given by Allāh to Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) when the Quraysh challenged him to show them a miracle. ↩
54:2
وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ ءَايَةٗ يُعۡرِضُواْ وَيَقُولُواْ سِحۡرٞ مُّسۡتَمِرّٞ ٢
And if they see a sign [i.e., miracle], they turn away and say, "Passing magic."1

54:3
وَكَذَّبُواْ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡۚ وَكُلُّ أَمۡرٖ مُّسۡتَقِرّٞ ٣
And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.
54:4
وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزۡدَجَرٌ ٤
And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence.
54:5
حِكۡمَةُۢ بَٰلِغَةٞۖ فَمَا تُغۡنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ ٥
Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].
54:6
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡۘ يَوۡمَ يَدۡعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيۡءٖ نُّكُرٍ ٦
So leave them, [O Muḥammad]. The Day the Caller1 calls to something forbidding,
