إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ رَجّٗا ٤

وقَوْلُهُ سُبْحانَهُ: ﴿إذا رُجَّتِ الأرْضُ رَجًّا﴾ أيْ زُلْزِلَتْ وحُرِّكَتْ تَحْرِيكًا شَدِيدًا بِحَيْثُ يَنْهَدِمُ ما فَوْقَها مِن بِناءٍ وجَبَلٍ مُتَعَلِّقٍ - بِخافِضَةٍ - أوْ - بِرافِعَةٍ - عَلى أنَّهُ مِن بابِ الأعْمالِ، أوْ بَدَلٌ مِن ﴿إذا وقَعَتِ﴾ كَما قالَ بِهِ غَيْرُ واحِدٍ، وقالَ ابْنُ جِنِّيِّ وأبُو الفَضْلِ الرّازِّيِّ: ﴿إذا رُجَّتِ﴾ في مَوْضِعِ رَفْعٍ عَلى أنَّهُ خَبَرٌ لِلْمُبْتَدَأِ الَّذِي هو ﴿إذا وقَعَتِ﴾ ولَيْسَتْ واحِدَةٌ مِنهُما شَرْطِيَّةٌ بَلْ هي بِمَعْنى وقْتٍ أيْ وقْتِ وُقُوعِها وقْتِ رَجِّ الأرْضِ، وادَّعى ابْنُ مالِكٍ أنَّ ( إذا ) تَكُونُ مُبْتَدَأً، واسْتَدَلَّ بِهَذِهِ الآيَةِ، وقالَ أبُو حَيّانَ: هو بَدَلٌ مِن ﴿إذا وقَعَتِ﴾ وجَوابُ الشَّرْطِ عِنْدِي مَلْفُوظٌ بِهِ وهو قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿فَأصْحابُ المَيْمَنَةِ﴾ والمَعْنى إذا كانَ كَذا وكَذا، فَأصْحابُ المَيْمَنَةِ ما أسْعَدَهم وما أعْظَمَ ما يُجازَوْنَ بِهِ أيْ إنَّ سَعادَتَهم وعِظَمَ رُتَبِهِمْ

عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وجَلَّ تَظْهَرُ في ذَلِكَ الوَقْتِ الشَّدِيدِ الصَّعْبِ عَلى العالَمِ، وفِيهِ بَعْدُ ﴿وبُسَّتِ الجِبالُ بَسًّا﴾ أيْ فُتَّتْ كَما قالَ ابْنُ عَبّاسٍ ومُجاهِدٌ حَتّى صارَتْ كالسَّوِيقِ المَلْتُوتِ مِن بَسَّ السَّوِيقَ إذا لَتَّهُ، وقِيلَ: سِيقَتْ وسُيِّرَتْ مِن أماكِنِها مِن بَسَّ الغَنَمَ إذا ساقَها فَهو كَقَوْلِهِ تَعالى: ﴿وسُيِّرَتِ الجِبالُ﴾ [النَّبَأِ: 20].
وقَرَأ زَيْدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ( رُجَّتْ، وبُسَّتْ) بِالبِناءِ لِلْفاعِلِ أيِ ارْتَجَّتْ وتَفَتَّتَتْ، وفي كَلامِ هِنْدِ بِنْتِ الخَسِّ تَصِفُ ناقَةً بِما يُسْتَدَلُّ بِهِ عَلى حَمْلِها: - عَيْنُها هاجُ وصَلّاها راجُ، وهي تَمْشِي وتَفاجُّ - ﴿فَكانَتْ﴾ فَصارَتْ بِسَبَبِ ذَلِكَ ﴿هَباءً﴾ غُبارًا ﴿مُنْبَثًّا﴾ مُتَفَرِّقًا، والمُرادُ مُطْلَقُ الغُبارِ عِنْدَ الأكْثَرِينَ، وقالَ ابْنُ عَبّاسٍ: هو ما يَثُورُ مَعَ شُعاعِ الشَّمْسِ إذا دَخَلَتْ مِن كُوَّةٍ، وفي رِوايَةٍ أُخْرى عَنْهُ أنَّهُ الَّذِي يَطِيرُ مِنَ النّارِ إذا اضْطَرَمَتْ.
وقَرَأ النَّخَعِيُّ - مَنبَتًّا - بِالتّاءِ المَنطُوقَةِ بِنُقْطَتَيْنِ مِن فَوْقِ مَنِ البَتِّ بِمَعْنى القَطْعِ، والمُرادُ بِهِ ما ذُكِرَ مِنَ اللَّيْثِ بِالمُثَلَّثَةِ

55:68
فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةٞ وَنَخۡلٞ وَرُمَّانٞ ٦٨
In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates.
55:69
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٩
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
55:70
فِيهِنَّ خَيۡرَٰتٌ حِسَانٞ ٧٠
In them are good and beautiful women -
55:71
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧١
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
55:72
حُورٞ مَّقۡصُورَٰتٞ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ ٧٢
Fair ones reserved in pavilions -
55:73
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٣
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
55:74
لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسٞ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنّٞ ٧٤
Untouched before them by man or jinnī -
55:75
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٥
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
55:76
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرٖ وَعَبۡقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٖ ٧٦
Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets.
55:77
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٧
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
55:78
تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ٧٨
Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
سورة الواقعة
Al-Waqi'ah

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
56:1
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ ١
When the Occurrence occurs,
56:2
لَيۡسَ لِوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ٢
There is, at its occurrence, no denial.
56:3
خَافِضَةٞ رَّافِعَةٌ ٣
It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].1

56:4
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ رَجّٗا ٤
When the earth is shaken with convulsion
56:5
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ بَسّٗا ٥
And the mountains are broken down, crumbling
56:6
فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءٗ مُّنۢبَثّٗا ٦
And become dust dispersing,
56:7
وَكُنتُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا ثَلَٰثَةٗ ٧
And you become [of] three kinds:
56:8
فَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ ٨
Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?1

56:9
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ ٩
And the companions of the left - what are companions of the left?1

- i.e., those given their records in their left hand and who are destined for Hell. ↩
56:10
وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ١٠
And the forerunners, the forerunners1 -

- The words can also be understood as a complete sentence, i.e., "The forerunners [in good deeds] are the forerunners [in entering Paradise]." ↩
56:11
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ ١١
Those are the ones brought near [to Allāh]
56:12
فِي جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ١٢
In the Gardens of Pleasure,
56:13
ثُلَّةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ١٣
A [large] company of the former peoples
56:14
وَقَلِيلٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ ١٤
And a few of the later peoples,
56:15
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مَّوۡضُونَةٖ ١٥
On thrones woven [with ornament],
56:16
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ ١٦
Reclining on them, facing each other.
