بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءٗ مُّنۢبَثّٗا ٦
And become dust dispersing,

Commentary on 56:4–9
ثم قال عز وجل: إِذا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا يعني: زلزلت الأرض زلزلة، وحركت تحريكاً شديداً، لا تسكن حتى تلقي جميع ما في بطنها على ظهرها.
ثم قال: وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبالُ بَسًّا يعني: فتتت الجبال فتاً. ويقال: قُلِعت الجبال قَلْعاً.
ويقال: كُسِرت الجبال كسراً. فَكانَتْ هَباءً مُنْبَثًّا يعني: تراباً وهو ما يسطع من سنابك الخيل. ويقال: الغبار الذي في شعاع الكوة. وقال القتبي: وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبالُ بَسًّا يعني: فتتت حتى صارت كالدقيق، والسويق المبثوث. ثم وصف حال الخلق في يوم القيامة وأخبر أنهم ثلاثة أصناف. اثنان في الجنة، وواحدة في النار.
ثم نعت كل صنف من الثلاثة على حدة، فقال: وَكُنْتُمْ أَزْواجاً ثَلاثَةً يعني: تكونون يوم القيامة ثلاث أصناف فَأَصْحابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ يعني: الذين يعطون كتابهم بأيمانهم مَا أَصْحابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ يعني: ما تدري ما لأصحاب الميمنة من الخير، والكرامات: وَأَصْحابُ الْمَشْئَمَةِ يعني: الذين يعطون كتابهم بشمالهم مَا أَصْحابُ الْمَشْئَمَةِ يعني: ما تدري ما لأصحاب المشئمة من الشرب، والعذاب. ويقال: أَصْحابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ يعني: الذين كانوا يوم الميثاق على يمين آدم عليه السلام، ويقال: على يمين العرش وَأَصْحابُ الْمَشْئَمَةِ الذين كانوا على شمال آدم عليه السلام. ويقال: على شمال العرش. ويقال: أَصْحابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ الذين يكونون يوم القيامة على يمين العرش، ويأخذون طريق الجنة وَأَصْحابُ الْمَشْئَمَةِ الذين يأخذون طريق الشمال، فيفضي بهم إلى النار.

55:68
فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةٞ وَنَخۡلٞ وَرُمَّانٞ ٦٨
In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates.
55:69
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٩
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
55:70
فِيهِنَّ خَيۡرَٰتٌ حِسَانٞ ٧٠
In them are good and beautiful women -
55:71
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧١
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
55:72
حُورٞ مَّقۡصُورَٰتٞ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ ٧٢
Fair ones reserved in pavilions -
55:73
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٣
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
55:74
لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسٞ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنّٞ ٧٤
Untouched before them by man or jinnī -
55:75
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٥
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
55:76
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرٖ وَعَبۡقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٖ ٧٦
Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets.
55:77
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٧
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
55:78
تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ٧٨
Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
سورة الواقعة
Al-Waqi'ah

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
56:1
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ ١
When the Occurrence occurs,
56:2
لَيۡسَ لِوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ٢
There is, at its occurrence, no denial.
56:3
خَافِضَةٞ رَّافِعَةٌ ٣
It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].1

56:4
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ رَجّٗا ٤
When the earth is shaken with convulsion
56:5
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ بَسّٗا ٥
And the mountains are broken down, crumbling
56:6
فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءٗ مُّنۢبَثّٗا ٦
And become dust dispersing,
56:7
وَكُنتُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا ثَلَٰثَةٗ ٧
And you become [of] three kinds:
56:8
فَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ ٨
Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?1

56:9
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ ٩
And the companions of the left - what are companions of the left?1

56:10
وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ١٠
And the forerunners, the forerunners1 -

- The words can also be understood as a complete sentence, i.e., "The forerunners [in good deeds] are the forerunners [in entering Paradise]." ↩
56:11
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ ١١
Those are the ones brought near [to Allāh]
56:12
فِي جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ١٢
In the Gardens of Pleasure,
56:13
ثُلَّةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ١٣
A [large] company of the former peoples
56:14
وَقَلِيلٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ ١٤
And a few of the later peoples,
56:15
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مَّوۡضُونَةٖ ١٥
On thrones woven [with ornament],
56:16
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ ١٦
Reclining on them, facing each other.
