وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ ٩
And the companions of the left - what are companions of the left?1

﴿وَأَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ مَاۤ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ ٩﴾ - تفسير
٧٤٨٠٧- قال عبد الله بن عباس: ﴿وأَصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ ما أصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ﴾ هم الذين كانوا على شمال آدم عند إخراج الذُّريّة، وقال الله لهم: هؤلاء في النار ولا أبالي[[تفسير البغوي ٨/٨.]]. (ز)
٧٤٨٠٨- عن عبد الله بن عباس -من طريق الضَّحّاك- أنّ نافع بن الأزرق قال له: أخبِرني عن قول الله ﷿: ﴿وأَصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ ما أصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ﴾. قال: أصحاب الشمال. قال: وهل كانت العرب تعرف ذلك قبل أن ينزل الكتاب على محمد ﷺ؟ قال: أما سمعت بقول زُهير بن أبي سُلمى:
نَزَلَ الشَّيْبُ بالشِّمالِ قَرِيبًا والمَرُوراتِ دائِيًا وحَقِيرا؟
قال: صَدقتَ[[أخرجه الطبراني مطولًا في المعجم الكبير ١٠/٢٤٨-٢٥٦ (١٠٥٩٧).]]. (ز)
٧٤٨٠٩- عن عبد الله بن عباس -من طريق السُّدِّيّ، عن أبي مالك وأبي صالح- ﴿وأَصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ ما أصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ﴾: هم أصحاب الشمال، يقول: ما لهم، وما أعدّ لهم[[عزاه السيوطي إلى ابن مردويه.]]. (١٤/٢٤٨)
٧٤٨١٠- قال الضَّحّاك بن مُزاحِم: ﴿وأَصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ ما أصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ﴾ هم الذين يُؤتون كتبهم بشمالهم[[تفسير البغوي ٨/٨.]]. (ز)
٧٤٨١١- قال الحسن البصري: ﴿وأَصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ ما أصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ﴾ هم المشائيم على أنفسهم، وكانت أعمارُهم في المعاصي[[تفسير الثعلبي ٩/٢٠٢، وتفسير البغوي ٨/٨.]]. (ز)
٧٤٨١٢- عن قتادة بن دعامة -من طريق سعيد- ﴿وأَصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ ما أصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ﴾، قال: ماذا لهم، وماذا أعدّ لهم[[أخرجه ابن جرير ٢٢/٢٨٨. وعزاه السيوطي إلى عبد الرزاق، وعبد بن حميد، وابن المنذر.]]. (١٤/١٧٨)
٧٤٨١٣- قال مقاتل بن سليمان: ﴿وأَصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ ما أصْحابُ المَشْأَمَةِ﴾، يقول: ما لأصحاب المشأمة مِن الشرِّ في جهنم[[تفسير مقاتل بن سليمان ٤/٢١٦.]]. (ز)

55:68
فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةٞ وَنَخۡلٞ وَرُمَّانٞ ٦٨
In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates.
55:69
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٩
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
55:70
فِيهِنَّ خَيۡرَٰتٌ حِسَانٞ ٧٠
In them are good and beautiful women -
55:71
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧١
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
55:72
حُورٞ مَّقۡصُورَٰتٞ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ ٧٢
Fair ones reserved in pavilions -
55:73
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٣
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
55:74
لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسٞ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنّٞ ٧٤
Untouched before them by man or jinnī -
55:75
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٥
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -
55:76
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرٖ وَعَبۡقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٖ ٧٦
Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets.
55:77
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٧
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
55:78
تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ٧٨
Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
سورة الواقعة
Al-Waqi'ah

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
56:1
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ ١
When the Occurrence occurs,
56:2
لَيۡسَ لِوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ٢
There is, at its occurrence, no denial.
56:3
خَافِضَةٞ رَّافِعَةٌ ٣
It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].1

56:4
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ رَجّٗا ٤
When the earth is shaken with convulsion
56:5
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ بَسّٗا ٥
And the mountains are broken down, crumbling
56:6
فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءٗ مُّنۢبَثّٗا ٦
And become dust dispersing,
56:7
وَكُنتُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا ثَلَٰثَةٗ ٧
And you become [of] three kinds:
56:8
فَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ ٨
Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?1

وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ ٩

وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ١٠
And the forerunners, the forerunners1 -

- The words can also be understood as a complete sentence, i.e., "The forerunners [in good deeds] are the forerunners [in entering Paradise]." ↩
56:11
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ ١١
Those are the ones brought near [to Allāh]
56:12
فِي جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ١٢
In the Gardens of Pleasure,
56:13
ثُلَّةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ١٣
A [large] company of the former peoples
56:14
وَقَلِيلٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ ١٤
And a few of the later peoples,
56:15
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مَّوۡضُونَةٖ ١٥
On thrones woven [with ornament],
56:16
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ ١٦
Reclining on them, facing each other.
