Al-An'am 6:114

أَفَغَيۡرَ ٱللَّهِ أَبۡتَغِي حَكَمٗا وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ إِلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ مُفَصَّلٗاۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ يَعۡلَمُونَ أَنَّهُۥ مُنَزَّلٞ مِّن رَّبِّكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُمۡتَرِينَ ١١٤
[Say], "Then is it other than Allāh I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] explained in detail?" And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters.

Commentary on 6:114
(أفغير الله) كلام مستأنف وارد على إرادة القول والاستفهام للإنكار أي قل لهم يا محمد كيف أضل وأميل إلى زخارف الشياطين و (ابتغي) غير الله حكماً هو أبلغ من الحاكم كما تقرر في مثل هذه الصفة المشتقة، أمره الله سبحانه وتعالى أن ينكر عليهم ما طلبوه منه من أن يجعل بينهم وبينه حكماً من أحبار اليهود أو من أساقفة النصارى فيما اختلفوا فيه وإن الله هو الحكم العدل بينه وبينهم.
(وهو الذي أنزل إليكم الكتاب) أي القرآن (مفصلاً) مبيناً واضحاً مستوفياً لكل قضية على التفصيل (والذين آتيناهم الكتاب) أي المعهود إنزاله من التوراة والإنجيل والزبور، أخبر الله نبيه - صلى الله عليه وسلم - بأن أهل الكتاب وإن أظهروا الجحود والمكابرة فإنهم (يعلمون أنه) أي القرآن (منزل من ربك) أي من عند الله مما دلتهم عليه كتب الله المنزلة كالتوراة والإنجيل من أنه رسول الله وأنه خاتم الأنبياء (بالحق) حال أي متلبساً بالحق الذي لا شك فيه ولا شبهة (فلا تكونن من الممترين) الشاكين فيه.
نهاه الله عن أن يكون من الممترين في أن أهل الكتاب يعلمون بأن القرآن منزل من عند الله بالحق، وبه قال الزمخشري: أو نهاه عن مطلق الإمتراء ويكون ذلك تعريضاً لأمته عن أن يمتري أحد منهم، أو الخطاب لكل من يصلح له أي فلا يكونن أحد من الناس من الممترين، ولا يقدح في ذلك كون الخطاب لرسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - فإن خطابه خطاب لأمته.

6:111
۞ وَلَوۡ أَنَّنَا نَزَّلۡنَآ إِلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ وَكَلَّمَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ وَحَشَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ كُلَّ شَيۡءٖ قُبُلٗا مَّا كَانُواْ لِيُؤۡمِنُوٓاْ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ يَجۡهَلُونَ ١١١
And even if We had sent down to them the angels [with the message] and the dead spoke to them [of it] and We gathered together every [created] thing in front of them, they would not believe unless Allāh should will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant.
6:112
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلۡنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوّٗا شَيَٰطِينَ ٱلۡإِنسِ وَٱلۡجِنِّ يُوحِي بَعۡضُهُمۡ إِلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ زُخۡرُفَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ غُرُورٗاۚ وَلَوۡ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ مَا فَعَلُوهُۖ فَذَرۡهُمۡ وَمَا يَفۡتَرُونَ ١١٢
And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent.
6:113
وَلِتَصۡغَىٰٓ إِلَيۡهِ أَفۡـِٔدَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَلِيَرۡضَوۡهُ وَلِيَقۡتَرِفُواْ مَا هُم مُّقۡتَرِفُونَ ١١٣
And [it is] so the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will incline toward it [i.e., deceptive speech] and that they will be satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing.
6:114

6:115
وَتَمَّتۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ صِدۡقٗا وَعَدۡلٗاۚ لَّا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ ١١٥
And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can alter His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
6:116
وَإِن تُطِعۡ أَكۡثَرَ مَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا يَخۡرُصُونَ ١١٦
And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allāh. They follow not except assumption, and they are not but misjudging.1

6:117
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ مَن يَضِلُّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦۖ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِينَ ١١٧
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.
6:118
فَكُلُواْ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ ٱسۡمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡهِ إِن كُنتُم بِـَٔايَٰتِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنِينَ ١١٨
So eat of that [meat] upon which the name of Allāh has been mentioned,1 if you are believers in His verses [i.e., revealed law].
