أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٗا شَدِيدٗاۖ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ يَٰٓأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۚ قَدۡ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيۡكُمۡ ذِكۡرٗا ١٠
Allāh has prepared for them a severe punishment; so fear Allāh, O you of understanding who have believed. Allāh has sent down to you a message [i.e., the Qur’ān].1

Commentary on 65:10
يقول تعالى ذكره: أعد الله لهؤلاء القوم الذين عتوا عن أمر ربهم ورسله عذابًا شديدًا، وذلك عذاب النار الذي أعدّه لهم في القيامة ( فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ يَا أُولِي الألْبَابِ ) يقول تعالى ذكره: فخافوا الله، واحذروا سخطه بأداء فرائضه، واجتناب معاصيه يا أولي العقول.
كما حدثنا محمد، قال: ثنا أحمد، قال: ثنا أسباط، عن السديّ، في قوله: ( فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ يَا أُولِي الألْبَابِ ) قال: يا أولي العقول.
وقوله: ( الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ) يقول: الذين صدقوا الله ورسله.
وقوله: ( قَدْ أَنـزلَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكُمْ ذِكْرًا * رَسُولا ) اختلف أهل التأويل في المعني بالذكر والرسول في هذا الموضع، فقال بعضهم: الذكر هو القرآن، والرسول محمد صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم.
* ذكر من قال ذلك:
حدثنا محمد، قال: ثنا أحمد، قال: ثنا أسباط، عن السديّ، في قوله: ( قَدْ أَنـزلَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكُمْ ذِكْرًا * رَسُولا ) قال: الذكر: القرآن، والرسول: محمد صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم.
حدثني يونس، قال: أخبرنا ابن وهب، قال، قال ابن زيد، في قول الله عزّ وجلّ: ( قَدْ أَنـزلَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكُمْ ذِكْرًا ) قال: القرآن روح من الله، وقرأ: وَكَذَلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ رُوحًا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا إلى آخر الآية، وقرأ: ( قَدْ أَنـزلَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكُمْ ذِكْرًا * رَسُولا ) قال: القرآن، وقرأ: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِالذِّكْرِ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ قال: بالقرآن، وقرأ إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَـزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ قال: القرآن، قال: وهو الذكر، وهو الروح.
وقال آخرون: الذكر: هو الرسول.
والصواب من القول في ذلك أن الرسول ترجمة عن الذكر، ذلك نصب لأنه مردود عليه على البيان عنه والترجمة.
فتأويل الكلام إذن: قد أنـزل الله إليكم يا أولي الألباب ذكرًا من الله لكم يذكركم به، وينبهكم على حظكم من الإيمان بالله، والعمل بطاعته، رسولا يتلو عليكم آيات الله التي أنـزلها عليه ( مُبَيِّنَاتٍ ) يقول: مبينات لمن سمعها وتدبرها أنها من عند الله.

65:6
أَسۡكِنُوهُنَّ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ سَكَنتُم مِّن وُجۡدِكُمۡ وَلَا تُضَآرُّوهُنَّ لِتُضَيِّقُواْ عَلَيۡهِنَّۚ وَإِن كُنَّ أُوْلَٰتِ حَمۡلٖ فَأَنفِقُواْ عَلَيۡهِنَّ حَتَّىٰ يَضَعۡنَ حَمۡلَهُنَّۚ فَإِنۡ أَرۡضَعۡنَ لَكُمۡ فَـَٔاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَأۡتَمِرُواْ بَيۡنَكُم بِمَعۡرُوفٖۖ وَإِن تَعَاسَرۡتُمۡ فَسَتُرۡضِعُ لَهُۥٓ أُخۡرَىٰ ٦
Lodge them1 [in a section] of where you dwell out of your means and do not harm them in order to oppress them.2 And if they should be pregnant, then spend on them until they give birth. And if they breastfeed for you, then give them their payment and confer among yourselves in the acceptable way; but if you are in discord, then there may breastfeed for him [i.e., the father] another woman.3
65:7
لِيُنفِقۡ ذُو سَعَةٖ مِّن سَعَتِهِۦۖ وَمَن قُدِرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقُهُۥ فَلۡيُنفِقۡ مِمَّآ ءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُۚ لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا مَآ ءَاتَىٰهَاۚ سَيَجۡعَلُ ٱللَّهُ بَعۡدَ عُسۡرٖ يُسۡرٗا ٧
Let a man of wealth spend from his wealth, and he whose provision is restricted - let him spend from what Allāh has given him. Allāh does not charge a soul except [according to] what He has given it. Allāh will bring about, after hardship, ease [i.e., relief].
65:8
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرۡيَةٍ عَتَتۡ عَنۡ أَمۡرِ رَبِّهَا وَرُسُلِهِۦ فَحَاسَبۡنَٰهَا حِسَابٗا شَدِيدٗا وَعَذَّبۡنَٰهَا عَذَابٗا نُّكۡرٗا ٨
And how many a city was insolent toward the command of its Lord and His messengers, so We took it to severe account and punished it with a terrible punishment.
65:9
فَذَاقَتۡ وَبَالَ أَمۡرِهَا وَكَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ أَمۡرِهَا خُسۡرًا ٩
And it tasted the bad consequence of its affair [i.e., rebellion], and the outcome of its affair was loss.
65:10
أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٗا شَدِيدٗاۖ فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ يَٰٓأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۚ قَدۡ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيۡكُمۡ ذِكۡرٗا ١٠

رَّسُولٗا يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ مُبَيِّنَٰتٖ لِّيُخۡرِجَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِۚ وَمَن يُؤۡمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ وَيَعۡمَلۡ صَٰلِحٗا يُدۡخِلۡهُ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدٗاۖ قَدۡ أَحۡسَنَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُۥ رِزۡقًا ١١
[He sent] a Messenger [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] reciting to you the distinct verses of Allāh that He may bring out those who believe and do righteous deeds from darknesses into the light. And whoever believes in Allāh and does righteousness - He will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow to abide therein forever. Allāh will have perfected for him a provision.
65:12
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ وَمِنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِثۡلَهُنَّۖ يَتَنَزَّلُ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ بَيۡنَهُنَّ لِتَعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدۡ أَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عِلۡمَۢا ١٢
It is Allāh who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them.1 [His] command descends among them so you may know that Allāh is over all things competent and that Allāh has encompassed all things in knowledge.
