۞ وَإِذَا صُرِفَتۡ أَبۡصَٰرُهُمۡ تِلۡقَآءَ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا مَعَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٤٧
And when their eyes are turned toward the companions of the Fire, they say, "Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people."

Commentary on 7:47
قوله تعالى: ﴿وَإِذَا صُرِفَتْ أَبْصَارُهُمْ﴾ معناه: كلما وقعت أبصار أصحاب الأعراف على أهل النَّارِ تضرَّعُوا إلى اللَّهِ في ألاّ يجعلهم من زمرتهم.
وقرأ الأعمش: «وإذَا قلبت» وهي مخالفة للسواد كقراءة «لَمْ يَدْخُلُوهَا وَهُمْ أهل النَّارِ تضرَّعُوا إلى اللَّهِ في ألاّ يجعلهم من زمرتهم.
أو وهم طامعون على أن هذه أقرب.
قوله:» تِلْقَاءَ» منصوب على ظرف المكان.
قال مكيٌّ: «وجمعه تلاقِيّ» .
قال شهابُ الدّين: «لأن» تِلْقَاء» وزنه «تِفْعَال» ك «تمثال» وتمثال وبابه يجمع على «تَفَاعِيلُ» ، فالتقت الياء الزَّائدةُ مع الياء التي هي لام الكلمة، فأدغمت فصارت «تَلاَقِيّ» .
والتلقاء في الأصل، مصدر ثم جُعِلَ دالاًّ على المكان أي: على جهة اللِّقَاءِ والمقابلة.
قال الوَاحِدِيُّ: «التّلقاء جهة اللِّقَاءِ، وهي في الأصل مصدر استعمل ظَرْفاً» ، ونقل المصادر على «تِفعال» بكسر التَّاء إلاَّ لفظتان: التِّلقاء، والمبرد عن البصريّين أنَّهُمَا قالا: لم يأت من المصادر على «تِفعال» بكسر التَّاء إلاَّ لفظتان: التِّلقاء، والتِّبيان، وما عدا ذلك من المصادر فمفتوح نحو: التَّرْداد والتكرار، ومن الأسماء مكسور نحو: تِمثال وتِمْساح وتِقْصار.
وفي قوله: «صُرِفَتْ أبْصَارُهُم» فائدة جليلة، وهو أنَّهُم لم يَلْتَفِتُوا إلى جهة النَّار [إلا] مجبورين على ذلك لا باختيارهم؛ لأن مكان الشرِّ محذور، وقد تقدَّم خلاف القُرَّاء في نحو: «تِلْقَاءَ أصْحَابِ» بالنِّسبة إلى إسقاط إحْدَى الهمزتين، أو إثباتها، أو تسهيلها في أوائل البقرة [6، 13] .
و «قالوا» هو جواب «إذا» والعامل فيها.

7:44
وَنَادَىٰٓ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ أَن قَدۡ وَجَدۡنَا مَا وَعَدَنَا رَبُّنَا حَقّٗا فَهَلۡ وَجَدتُّم مَّا وَعَدَ رَبُّكُمۡ حَقّٗاۖ قَالُواْ نَعَمۡۚ فَأَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنُۢ بَيۡنَهُمۡ أَن لَّعۡنَةُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٤٤
And the companions of Paradise will call out to the companions of the Fire, "We have already found what our Lord promised us to be true. Have you found what your Lord promised to be true?" They will say, "Yes." Then an announcer will announce among them, "The curse of Allāh shall be upon the wrongdoers
7:45
ٱلَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبۡغُونَهَا عِوَجٗا وَهُم بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ كَٰفِرُونَ ٤٥
Who averted [people] from the way of Allāh and sought to make it [seem] deviant while they were, concerning the Hereafter, disbelievers."
7:46
وَبَيۡنَهُمَا حِجَابٞۚ وَعَلَى ٱلۡأَعۡرَافِ رِجَالٞ يَعۡرِفُونَ كُلَّۢا بِسِيمَىٰهُمۡۚ وَنَادَوۡاْ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ أَن سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡۚ لَمۡ يَدۡخُلُوهَا وَهُمۡ يَطۡمَعُونَ ٤٦
And between them will be a partition [i.e., wall], and on [its] elevations are men1 who recognize all2 by their mark. And they call out to the companions of Paradise, "Peace be upon you." They have not [yet] entered it, but they long intensely.
7:47
۞ وَإِذَا صُرِفَتۡ أَبۡصَٰرُهُمۡ تِلۡقَآءَ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا مَعَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٤٧
And when their eyes are turned toward the companions of the Fire, they say, "Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people."
7:48
وَنَادَىٰٓ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأَعۡرَافِ رِجَالٗا يَعۡرِفُونَهُم بِسِيمَىٰهُمۡ قَالُواْ مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنكُمۡ جَمۡعُكُمۡ وَمَا كُنتُمۡ تَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ٤٨
And the companions of the Elevations will call to men [within Hell] whom they recognize by their mark, saying, "Of no avail to you was your gathering1 and [the fact] that you were arrogant."

7:49
أَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أَقۡسَمۡتُمۡ لَا يَنَالُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِرَحۡمَةٍۚ ٱدۡخُلُواْ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَلَآ أَنتُمۡ تَحۡزَنُونَ ٤٩
[Allāh will say], "Are these1 the ones whom you [inhabitants of Hell] swore that Allāh would never offer them mercy? Enter Paradise, [O people of the Elevations]. No fear will there be concerning you, nor will you grieve."

- The humble believers who are now in Paradise. Another interpretation regards them as the people on the elevated partition. ↩
7:50
وَنَادَىٰٓ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ أَنۡ أَفِيضُواْ عَلَيۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمَآءِ أَوۡ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٥٠
And the companions of the Fire will call to the companions of Paradise, "Pour upon us some water or from whatever Allāh has provided you." They will say, "Indeed, Allāh has forbidden them both to the disbelievers
7:51
ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُواْ دِينَهُمۡ لَهۡوٗا وَلَعِبٗا وَغَرَّتۡهُمُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۚ فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ نَنسَىٰهُمۡ كَمَا نَسُواْ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِهِمۡ هَٰذَا وَمَا كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجۡحَدُونَ ٥١
Who took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life deluded." So today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day of theirs and for having rejected Our verses.
