بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Al-Qiyamah 75:12

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ ١٢
To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.

Commentary on 75:11–12
﴿كَلا﴾ رَدْعٌ عَنْ طَلَبِ المَفَرِّ وتَمَنِّيهِ ﴿لا وزَرَ﴾ لا مَلْجَأ وأصْلُهُ الجَبَلُ المَنِيعُ وقَدْ كانَ مَفَرًّا في الغالِبِ لِفِرارِ العَرَبِ واشْتِقاقِهِ مِنَ الوِزْرِ وهو الثِّقْلُ ثُمَّ شاعَ وصارَ حَقِيقَةً لِكُلِّ مَلْجَأٍ مِن جَبَلٍ أوْ حِصْنٍ أوْ سِلاحٍ أوْ رَجُلٍ أوْ غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ ومِنهُ قَوْلُهُ:
لَعَمْرُكَ ما لِلْفَتى مِن وِزْرِ مِنَ المَوْتِ يُدْرِكُهُ والكِبْرِ
﴿إلى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ المُسْتَقَرُّ﴾
أيْ إلَيْهِ جَلَّ وعَلا وحْدَهُ اسْتِقْرارُ العِبادِ أيْ لا مَلْجَأ ولا مَنجى لَهم غَيْرُهُ عَزَّ وجَلَّ أوْ إلى حُكْمِهِ تَعالى اسْتِقْرارُ أمْرِهِمْ لا يَحْكُمُ فِيهِ غَيْرُ سُبْحانِهِ أوْ إلى مَشِيئَتِهِ تَعالى مَوْضِعُ قَرارِهِمْ مِن جَنَّةٍ أوْ نارٍ فَمَن شاءَ سُبْحانَهُ أدْخَلَهُ الجَنَّةَ ومَن شاءَ أدْخَلَهُ النّارَ.
فَتَقْدِيمُ الخَيْرِ لِإفادَةِ الِاخْتِصاصِ وإنِ اخْتَلَفَ وجْهُهُ حَسَبَ اخْتِلافِ المُرادِ بِمُسْتَقَرٍّ وكَلّا لا وزَرَ يُحْتَمَلُ أنْ يَكُونَ مِن كَلامِهِ تَعالى يُقالُ لِلْقائِلِ ﴿أيْنَ المَفَرُّ﴾ يَوْمَ يَقُولُهُ أوْ هو مَقُولَ اليَوْمِ عَلى مَعْنى لِيَرْتَدِعِ عَنْ طَلَبِ الفَرّارِ وتَمَنِّيهِ ذَلِكَ اليَوْمَ ويُحْتَمَلُ أنْ يَكُونَ مِن تَمامِ قَوْلِ الإنْسانِ كَأنَّهُ بَعْدَ أنْ يَقُولَ ﴿أيْنَ المَفَرُّ﴾ يَعُودُ عَلى نَفْسِهِ فَيَسْتَدْرِكُ ويَقُولُ ﴿كَلا لا وزَرَ﴾ وأيًّا ما كانَ فالظّاهِرُ أنَّ قَوْلَهُ تَعالى ﴿إلى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ المُسْتَقَرُّ﴾ .
اسْتِئْنافٌ كالتَّعْلِيلِ لِلْجُمْلَةِ قَبْلَهُ أوْ تَحْقِيقٌ وكَشْفٌ لِحَقِيقَةِ الحالِ والخِطابُ فِيهِ لِسَيِّدِ المُخاطَبِينَ ﷺ ولا يَحْسُنُ أنْ يَكُونَ مِن جُمْلَةِ ما يُخاطَبُ بِهِ القائِلُ ذَلِكَ اليَوْمَ، ولا مِمّا يَقُولُهُ لِنَفْسِهِ فِيهِ لِمَكانِ يَوْمَئِذٍ.
وفِي البَحْرِ الظّاهِرُ أنَّ قَوْلَهُ تَعالى ﴿كَلا لا وزَرَ﴾ ﴿إلى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ المُسْتَقَرُّ﴾ مِن تَمامِ قَوْلِ الإنْسانِ وقِيلَ هو مِن كَلامِ اللَّهِ تَعالى لا حِكايَةً عَنِ الإنْسانِ انْتَهى وفِيهِ بَحْثٌ وجُوِّزَ أنْ تَكُونَ ﴿كَلا﴾ بِمَعْنى ألا الِاسْتِفْتاحِيَّةِ أوْ بِمَعْنى حَقًّا فَتَأمَّلْ ولا تَغْفُلْ.

74:48
فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمۡ شَفَٰعَةُ ٱلشَّٰفِعِينَ ٤٨
So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors.
74:49
فَمَا لَهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلتَّذۡكِرَةِ مُعۡرِضِينَ ٤٩
Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away
74:50
كَأَنَّهُمۡ حُمُرٞ مُّسۡتَنفِرَةٞ ٥٠
As if they were alarmed donkeys
74:51
فَرَّتۡ مِن قَسۡوَرَةِۭ ٥١
Fleeing from a lion?
74:52
بَلۡ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِيٕٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَن يُؤۡتَىٰ صُحُفٗا مُّنَشَّرَةٗ ٥٢
Rather, every person among them desires that he1 would be given scriptures spread about.2
74:53
كـَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا يَخَافُونَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ ٥٣
No! But they do not fear the Hereafter.
74:54
كـَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ تَذۡكِرَةٞ ٥٤
No! Indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a reminder
74:55
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ٥٥
Then whoever wills will remember it.
74:56
وَمَا يَذۡكُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ هُوَ أَهۡلُ ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰ وَأَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِ ٥٦
And they will not remember except that Allāh wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness.

Al-Qiyamah
The Resurrection · Meccan · 40 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
75:1
لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ ١
I swear by the Day of Resurrection
75:2
وَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ٢
And I swear by the reproaching soul1 [to the certainty of resurrection].

75:3
أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ٣
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?
75:4
بَلَىٰ قَٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُۥ ٤
Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.
75:5
بَلۡ يُرِيدُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ لِيَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ٥
But man desires to continue in sin.1

75:6
يَسۡـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ ٦
He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"
75:7
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ ٧
So when vision is dazzled
75:8
وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُ ٨
And the moon darkens
75:9
وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ ٩
And the sun and the moon are joined,
75:10
يَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذٍ أَيۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ ١٠
Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"
75:11
كـَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ١١
No! There is no refuge.
75:12
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ ١٢
To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.
75:13
يُنَبَّؤُاْ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ١٣
Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead1 and kept back.2
75:14
بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٞ ١٤
Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,1

وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ ١٥
Even if he presents his excuses.
75:16
لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦٓ ١٦
Move not your tongue with it, [O Muḥammad], to hasten with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān].
75:17
إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا جَمۡعَهُۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥ ١٧
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.
75:18
فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُۥ ١٨
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.
75:19
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا بَيَانَهُۥ ١٩
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
