بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ٣
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?

Commentary on 75:3
(أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنْسَانُ أَلَّنْ نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ) المراد بالإِنسان الجنس، وقيل الإنسان الكافر والهمزة للإنكار وأن هي المخففة من الثقيلة واسمها ضمير شأن محذوف والمعنى أيحسب الإنسان أن الشأن أن لن نجمع عظامه بعد أن صارت رفاتاً مختلطة بالتراب، وبعد ما نسفتها الريح فطيرتها في أباعد الأرض فنعيدها خلقاً جديداً، وذلك الحسبان باطل فإنا نجمعها، وما يدل عليه هذا الكلام هو جواب القسم.
قال الزجاج: أقسم ليجمعن العظام للبعث فهذا جواب القسم، وقال النحاس جوابه محذوف أي لتبعثن، والمعنى أن الله سبحانه يبعث جميع أجزاء الإنسان، وإنما خص العظام لأنها قالب الخلق [[قال البغوي: نزلت في عدي بن ربيعة حليف بني زهرة خَتَن الأخنس بن شريق الثقفي، وكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: اللهم اكفني جَارَيِ السوء، يعني عدياً والأخنس، وذلك أن عدي بن ربيعة أتى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: يا محمد حدثني عن القيامة متى تكون؟ وكيف أمرها وحالها؟ فأخبره رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: لو عاينتُ ذلك اليوم لم أصدقك ولم أؤمن بك، أو يجمع الله العظام؟! فأنزل الله عز وجل: (أيحسب الإنسان) يعني الكافر (أَلَّنْ نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ) بعد التفرق والبلي فنحييه قبل ذكر العظام، وذكره كذلك بغير سند القرطبي والخازن. والله أعلم. وفي القرطبي و " البحر المحيط ": وقيل: نزلت في أبي جهل.]].

74:48
فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمۡ شَفَٰعَةُ ٱلشَّٰفِعِينَ ٤٨
So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors.
74:49
فَمَا لَهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلتَّذۡكِرَةِ مُعۡرِضِينَ ٤٩
Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away
74:50
كَأَنَّهُمۡ حُمُرٞ مُّسۡتَنفِرَةٞ ٥٠
As if they were alarmed donkeys
74:51
فَرَّتۡ مِن قَسۡوَرَةِۭ ٥١
Fleeing from a lion?
74:52
بَلۡ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِيٕٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَن يُؤۡتَىٰ صُحُفٗا مُّنَشَّرَةٗ ٥٢
Rather, every person among them desires that he1 would be given scriptures spread about.2
74:53
كـَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا يَخَافُونَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ ٥٣
No! But they do not fear the Hereafter.
74:54
كـَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ تَذۡكِرَةٞ ٥٤
No! Indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a reminder
74:55
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ٥٥
Then whoever wills will remember it.
74:56
وَمَا يَذۡكُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ هُوَ أَهۡلُ ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰ وَأَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِ ٥٦
And they will not remember except that Allāh wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
75:1
لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ ١
I swear by the Day of Resurrection
75:2
وَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ٢
And I swear by the reproaching soul1 [to the certainty of resurrection].

75:3
أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ٣
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?
75:4
بَلَىٰ قَٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُۥ ٤
Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.
75:5
بَلۡ يُرِيدُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ لِيَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ٥
But man desires to continue in sin.1

75:6
يَسۡـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ ٦
He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"
75:7
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ ٧
So when vision is dazzled
75:8
وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُ ٨
And the moon darkens
75:9
وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ ٩
And the sun and the moon are joined,
75:10
يَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذٍ أَيۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ ١٠
Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"
75:11
كـَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ١١
No! There is no refuge.
75:12
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ ١٢
To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.
75:13
يُنَبَّؤُاْ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ١٣
Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead1 and kept back.2
75:14
بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٞ ١٤
Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,1

75:15
وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ ١٥
Even if he presents his excuses.
75:16
لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦٓ ١٦
Move not your tongue with it, [O Muḥammad], to hasten with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān].
75:17
إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا جَمۡعَهُۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥ ١٧
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.
75:18
فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُۥ ١٨
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.
75:19
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا بَيَانَهُۥ ١٩
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
