بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِيٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورًا ١٣
Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;

ولَمّا ذَكَرَ هَذا العَذابَ الَّذِي لا يُطاقُ، أتْبَعُهُ سَبَبَهُ تَرْهِيبًا مِنهُ واسْتِعْطافًا إلى التَّوْبَةِ وتَحْذِيرًا مِنَ السُّرُورِ في دارِ الحُزْنِ، فَقالَ مُؤَكِّدًا تَنْبِيهًا عَلى أنَّهُ لا يَنْبَغِي أنْ يُصَدِّقَ أنَّ عاقِلًا يَثْبُتُ لَهُ سُرُورٌ في الدُّنْيا: ﴿إنَّهُ كانَ﴾ أيْ بِما هو لَهُ كالجِبِلَّةِ والطَّبْعِ ﴿فِي أهْلِهِ﴾ أيْ في دارِ العَمَلِ ﴿مَسْرُورًا﴾ أيْ ثابِتًا لَهُ السُّرُورُ بَطَرًا بِالمالِ والجاهِ فَرَحًا بِهِ مُخَلَّدًا إلَيْهِ مُتْرَفًا مَعَ الفَراغِ والفِرارِ عَنْ ذِكْرِ حِسابُ الآخِرَةِ كَما قالَ في الَّتِي قَبْلَها ﴿وإذا انْقَلَبُوا إلى أهْلِهِمُ انْقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ﴾ [المطففين: ٣١] لا يَحْزَنُ أحَدُهم لِذَنْبٍ عَمِلَهُ ولا لِقَبِيحٍ ارْتَكَبَهُ، بَلْ يَسُرُّ بِكَوْنِهِ يَأْتِي لَهُ ذَلِكَ فَهو يُحاسَبُ في الآخِرَةِ حِسابًا عَسِيرًا، ويَنْقَلِبُ إلى أعْدائِهِ مَغْمُومًا كَسِيرًا، وقَدْ بانَ [أنَّ - ] الكَلامَ مِنَ الِاحْتِباكِ: ذِكْرُ الحِسابِ اليَسِيرِ الَّذِي هو الثَّمَرَةُ والمُسَبِّبِ أوَّلًا يَدُلُّ عَلى حَذْفِ ضِدِّهِ ثانِيًا، وذَكَرَ السُّرُورَ في الأهْلِ الَّذِي هو السَّبَبُ [فِي - ] الثّانِي يَدُلُّ عَلى حَذْفِ ضِدِّهِ وهو سَبَبُ السَّعادَةِ وهو (p-٣٤٥)الغَمُّ ومُحاسَبَةُ النَّفْسِ في الأوَّلِ، فَهو احْتِباكٌ في احْتِباكٍ، ثُمَّ عَلَّلَ ثَباتَ سُرُورِهِ فَقالَ [مُؤَكِّدًا - ] تَنْبِيهًا أيْضًا عَلى أنَّهُ لا يُصَدَّقُ أنَّ أحَدًا يُنْكِرُ البَعْثَ مَعَ ما لَهُ مِنَ الدَّلائِلِ الَّتِي تَفُوتُ الحَصْرَ:

عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ٣٥
On adorned couches, observing.
83:36
هَلۡ ثُوِّبَ ٱلۡكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُواْ يَفۡعَلُونَ ٣٦
Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?

Al-Inshiqaq

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
84:1
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتۡ ١
When the sky has split [open]
84:2
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ ٢
And has listened [i.e., responded]1 to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]

84:3
وَإِذَا ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مُدَّتۡ ٣
And when the earth has been extended1

84:4
وَأَلۡقَتۡ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتۡ ٤
And has cast out that within it1 and relinquished [it]

- Of the dead and all else buried therein. ↩
84:5
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ ٥
And has listened [i.e., responded] to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] –
84:6
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدۡحٗا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ ٦
O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion1 and will meet it.2
84:7
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ ٧
Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand,
84:8
فَسَوۡفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابٗا يَسِيرٗا ٨
He will be judged with an easy account
84:9
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورٗا ٩
And return to his people in happiness.
84:10
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهۡرِهِۦ ١٠
But as for he who is given his record behind his back,
84:11
فَسَوۡفَ يَدۡعُواْ ثُبُورٗا ١١
He will cry out for destruction
84:12
وَيَصۡلَىٰ سَعِيرًا ١٢
And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.
84:13
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِيٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورًا ١٣
Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;
84:14
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ ١٤
Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allāh].
84:15
بَلَىٰٓۚ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرٗا ١٥
But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever, of him, Seeing.
84:16
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ ١٦
So I swear by the twilight glow
84:17
وَٱلَّيۡلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ ١٧
And [by] the night and what it envelops
84:18
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ ١٨
And [by] the moon when it becomes full
84:19
لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٖ ١٩
[That] you will surely embark upon [i.e., experience] state after state.1

84:20
فَمَا لَهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ ٢٠
So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,
84:21
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لَا يَسۡجُدُونَۤ۩ ٢١
And when the Qur’ān is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allāh]?
84:22
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ ٢٢
But those who have disbelieved deny,
84:23
وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ ٢٣
And Allāh is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.
84:24
فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ٢٤
So give them tidings of a painful punishment,
84:25
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونِۭ ٢٥
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.
