كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ كَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمۡ قُوَّةٗ وَأَكۡثَرَ أَمۡوَٰلٗا وَأَوۡلَٰدٗا فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعُواْ بِخَلَٰقِهِمۡ فَٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم بِخَلَٰقِكُمۡ كَمَا ٱسۡتَمۡتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُم بِخَلَٰقِهِمۡ وَخُضۡتُمۡ كَٱلَّذِي خَاضُوٓاْۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتۡ أَعۡمَٰلُهُمۡ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ ٦٩
[You disbelievers are] like those before you; they were stronger than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children. They enjoyed their portion [of worldly enjoyment], and you have enjoyed your portion as those before you enjoyed their portion, and you have engaged [in vanities] like that in which they engaged. [It is] those whose deeds have become worthless in this world and in the Hereafter, and it is they who are the losers.

الكافُ في ﴿كالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكم كانُوا أشَدَّ مِنكم قُوَّةً وأكْثَرَ أمْوالا وأوْلادًا فاسْتَمْتَعُوا بِخَلاقِهِمْ فاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِخَلاقِكم كَما اسْتَمْتَعَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكم بِخَلاقِهِمْ﴾ مَحَلُّها رَفْعٌ، أيْ: أنْتُمْ مِثْلُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكم. أوْ نَصْبٌ عَلى: (p-٦٩٣)فَعَلْتُمْ مِثْلَ فِعْلِ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ، وهو أنَّكُمُ اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِخَلاقِكم كَما اسْتَمْتَعُوا بِخَلاقِهِمْ، أيْ: تَلَذَّذُوا بِمَلاذِّ الدُنْيا، والخَلاقُ: النَصِيبُ، مُشْتَقٌّ مِنَ الخَلْقِ، وهو التَقْدِيرُ، أيْ: ما خُلِقَ لِلْإنْسانِ، بِمَعْنى: قُدِّرَ مِن خَيْرٍ.
﴿وَخُضْتُمْ﴾ في الباطِلِ ﴿كالَّذِي خاضُوا﴾ كالفَوْجِ الَّذِي خاضُوا، أوْ كالخَوْضِ الَّذِي خاضُوهُ، والخَوْضُ: الدُخُولُ في الباطِلِ واللهْوِ، وإنَّما قَدَّمَ ﴿فاسْتَمْتَعُوا بِخَلاقِهِمْ﴾ وقَوْلُهُ: ﴿كَما اسْتَمْتَعَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكم بِخَلاقِهِمْ﴾ مُغْنٍ عَنْهُ، لِيَذُمَّ الأوَّلِينَ بِالِاسْتِمْتاعِ بِما أُوتُوا مِن حُظُوظِ الدُنْيا، والتِهائِهِمْ بِشَهَواتِهِمُ الفانِيَةِ عَنِ النَظَرِ في العاقِبَةِ، وطَلَبِ الفَلاحِ في الآخِرَةِ، ثُمَّ يُشَبِّهَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ حالَ المُخاطَبِينَ بِحالِهِمْ ﴿فَأُولَئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أعْمالُهم في الدُنْيا والآخِرَةِ﴾ في مُقابَلَةِ قَوْلِهِ: ﴿وَآتَيْناهُ أجْرَهُ في الدُنْيا وإنَّهُ في الآخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصالِحِينَ﴾ [العَنْكَبُوتُ: ٢٧] ﴿وَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الخاسِرُونَ﴾ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ نَبَأ مَن قَبْلَهم فَقالَ:

9:70
أَلَمۡ يَأۡتِهِمۡ نَبَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ قَوۡمِ نُوحٖ وَعَادٖ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوۡمِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَأَصۡحَٰبِ مَدۡيَنَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَٰتِۚ أَتَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِۖ فَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظۡلِمَهُمۡ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ يَظۡلِمُونَ ٧٠
Has there not reached them the news of those before them - the people of Noah and [the tribes of] ʿAad and Thamūd and the people of Abraham and the companions [i.e., dwellers] of Madyan and the towns overturned?1 Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. And Allāh would never have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.

9:71
وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتُ بَعۡضُهُمۡ أَوۡلِيَآءُ بَعۡضٖۚ يَأۡمُرُونَ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَيَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤۡتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ سَيَرۡحَمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٞ ٧١
The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakāh and obey Allāh and His Messenger. Those - Allāh will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.
9:72
وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَمَسَٰكِنَ طَيِّبَةٗ فِي جَنَّٰتِ عَدۡنٖۚ وَرِضۡوَٰنٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ أَكۡبَرُۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ ٧٢
Allāh has promised the believing men and believing women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence; but approval from Allāh is greater. It is that which is the great attainment.
