بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Al-Bayyinah 98:5

وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤۡتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ ٱلۡقَيِّمَةِ ٥
And they were not commanded except to worship Allāh, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakāh. And that is the correct religion.

Commentary on 98:5
قوله: {مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدين} : العامَّةُ على كَسْرِ اللامِ اسمَ فاعلٍ، وانتصب به «الدّينَ» والحسن بفتحِها على معنى: أنهم يُخْلِصون هم أنفسهم في نياتهم، وانتصب «الدينَ» على أحدِ وجهَيْن: إمَّا إسقاطِ الخافضِ، أي: في الدين، وإمَّا على المصدر من معنى: ليَعْبُدوا، كأنه قيل: ليَدينوا الدينَ، أو ليعبدوا العبادةَ، فالتجوُّز: إمَّا من الفعلِ، وإمَّا في المصدر، وانتصابُ «مُخْلِصِين» على الحال مِنْ فاعل «يعبدون» .
قوله: {حُنَفَآءَ} حالٌ ثانيةٌ أو حال من الحالِ قبلَها، أي: من الضمير المستكنِّ فيها. وقوله: {وَمَآ أمروا} ، أي: وما أُمِروا بما أُمِروا به إلاَّ لكذا وقرأ عبد الله «وما أُمِروا إلاَّ أَنْ يَعْبُدوا» أي: بأَنْ يَعْبدوا. وتحريرُ مثلِها في قوله {وَأُمِرْنَا لِنُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ العالمين} [الآية: 71] في الأنعام.
وقوله: {وَذَلِكَ دِينُ القيمة} أي: الأمَّةُ أو المِلَّةُ القيمةُ، أي: المستقيمة. وقيل: الكتبُ القَيِّمة؛ لأنها قد تقدَّمَتْ في الذِّكْرِ، قال تعالى: {فِيهَا كُتُبٌ قَيِّمَةٌ} [البينة: 3] ، فلَّما أعادها أعادَها مع أل العهديةِ كقوله: {فعصى فِرْعَوْنُ الرسول} [المزمل: 16] وهو حسنٌ، قاله محمد بن الأشعت الطالقاني وقرأ عبد الله: «وذلك الدِّين القيمةِ» ، والتأنيثُ حينئذٍ: إمَّا على تأويلِ الدٍّين بالمِلة كقوله:
4613 -. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ... سائِلْ بني أسدٍ ما هذه الصَوْتُ
بتأويل الصيحة، وإمَّا على أنها تاءُ المبالغةِ كعَلاَّمة.

Al-Qadr

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
97:1
إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ ١
Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree.
97:2
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ ٢
And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?
97:3
لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ خَيۡرٞ مِّنۡ أَلۡفِ شَهۡرٖ ٣
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
97:4
تَنَزَّلُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمۡرٖ ٤
The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.1

97:5
سَلَٰمٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطۡلَعِ ٱلۡفَجۡرِ ٥
Peace it is1 until the emergence of dawn.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
98:1
لَمۡ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأۡتِيَهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ ١
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief]1 until there came to them clear evidence –

رَسُولٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتۡلُواْ صُحُفٗا مُّطَهَّرَةٗ ٢
A Messenger from Allāh, reciting purified1 scriptures

98:3
فِيهَا كُتُبٞ قَيِّمَةٞ ٣
Within which are correct writings [i.e., rulings and laws].
98:4
وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ ٤
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided1 until after there had come to them clear evidence.

Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
98:7
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ ٧
Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.
