بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Al-Ma'un 107:3

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ ٣
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

ولَمّا كانَتْ رَحْمَةُ الضُّعَفاءِ عَلامَةً عَلى الخَيْرِ، ولِذَلِكَ قالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أسْألُكَ فِعْلَ الخَيْراتِ، وتَرْكَ المُنْكَراتِ، وحُبَّ المَساكِينِ» كانَتِ القَسْوَةُ عَلَيْهِمْ عَلامَةٌ عَلى الشَّرِّ، وكانَ مَن بُخْلٍ بِاللِّينِ في قالَهُ أشَدَّ بُخْلًا بِالبَذْلِ مِن مالِهِ، قالَ مُعَرِّفًا لِأنَّ المُكَذِّبَ يُنْزِلُهُ تَكْذِيبُهُ إلى أسْفَلِ الدَّرْكاتِ، وأسْوَإ الصِّفاتِ الحامِلِ عَلى شَرِّ الحَرَكاتِ: ﴿ولا يَحُضُّ﴾ أيْ يُحِثُّ نَفْسَهُ وأهْلَهُ ولا غَيْرُهم حَثًّا عَظِيمًا يَحْمِي فَيَبْعَثُ عَلى المُرادِ ﴿عَلى طَعامِ المِسْكِينِ﴾ أيْ بَذْلِهِ لَهُ وإطْعامِهِ إيّاهُ بَلْ يَمْقُتُهُ ولا يُكْرِمُهُ ولا يَرْحَمُهُ، وتَعْبِيرُهُ عَنِ الإطْعامِ - الَّذِي هو المَقْصُودُ - بِالطَّعامِ الَّذِي هو الأصْلُ وإضافَتُهُ المِسْكِينَ لِلدَّلالَةِ عَلى أنَّهُ يُشارِكُ الغَنِيَّ في مالِهِ بِقَدْرِ ما فَرَضَ اللَّهُ مِن كِفايَتِهِ، وقَدْ تَضَمَّنَ هَذا أنَّ عَلّامَةَ التَّكْذِيبِ [بِالبَعْثِ -] إيذاءُ الضَّعِيفِ والتَّهاوُنِ بِالمَعْرُوفِ، والآيَةُ مِنَ الِاحْتِباكِ: الدَّعُّ في الأوَّلِ يَدُلُّ عَلى المَقْتِ في (p-٢٨٠)الثّانِي: والحَضُّ في الثّانِي يَدُلُّ عَلى مِثْلِهِ في [الأوَّلِ -].

سورة قريش
Quraysh
Quraysh · Meccan · 4 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
106:1
لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيۡشٍ ١
For the accustomed security of the Quraysh1 -

- i.e., the honor and reputation Allāh had given them as guardians of the Holy Kaʿbah, which allowed them to travel without fear of being harmed. ↩
106:2
إِۦلَٰفِهِمۡ رِحۡلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيۡفِ ٢
Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer1 -

- i.e., the trading caravans that traveled south in winter and north in summer. ↩
106:3
فَلۡيَعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٣
Let them worship the Lord of this House,1

ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٖ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفِۭ ٤
Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.
سورة الماعون
Al-Ma'un

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
107:1
أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ ١
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
107:2
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ ٢
For that is the one who drives away the orphan
107:3
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ ٣
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
107:4
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ ٤
So woe to those who pray
107:5
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِهِمۡ سَاهُونَ ٥
[But] who are heedless of their prayer1 -

- i.e., the hypocrites who are unconcerned if they miss prayers when no one sees them. ↩
107:6
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ ٦
Those who make show [of their deeds]
107:7
وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ ٧
And withhold [simple] assistance.
سورة الكوثر
Al-Kawthar
The Abundance · Meccan · 3 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
108:1
إِنَّآ أَعۡطَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ ١
Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muḥammad], al-Kawthar.
108:2
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنۡحَرۡ ٢
So pray to your Lord and offer sacrifice [to Him alone].
108:3
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلۡأَبۡتَرُ ٣
Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.1
