وَٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُواْ ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنفَقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ سِرّٗا وَعَلَانِيَةٗ وَيَدۡرَءُونَ بِٱلۡحَسَنَةِ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ عُقۡبَى ٱلدَّارِ ٢٢
And those who are patient, seeking the face [i.e., acceptance] of their Lord, and establish prayer and spend from what We have provided for them secretly and publicly and prevent evil with good - those will have the good consequence of [this] home1 -

Commentary on 13:22
قوله تعالى : والذين صبروا ابتغاء وجه ربهم قيل : " الذين " مستأنف ; لأن صبروا ماض فلا ينعطف على " يوفون " وقيل : هو من وصف من تقدم ، ويجوز الوصف تارة بلفظ الماضي ، وتارة بلفظ المستقبل ; لأن المعنى من يفعل كذا فله كذا ; ولما كان الذين يتضمن الشرط ، والماضي في الشرط كالمستقبل جاز ذلك ; ولهذا قال : الذين يوفون ثم قال : والذين صبروا ثم عطف عليه فقال : ويدرءون بالحسنة السيئة . قال ابن زيد : صبروا على طاعة الله ، وصبروا عن معصية الله . وقال عطاء : صبروا على الرزايا والمصائب والحوادث والنوائب . وقال أبو عمران الجوني : صبروا على دينهم ابتغاء وجه اللهوأقاموا الصلاة أدوها بفروضها وخشوعها في مواقيتها .وأنفقوا مما رزقناهم سرا وعلانية يعني الزكاة المفروضة ، عن ابن عباس ، وقد مضى القول في هذا في " البقرة " وغيرهاويدرءون بالحسنة السيئة أي يدفعون بالعمل الصالح السيئ من الأعمال ، قاله ابن عباس . ابن زيد : يدفعون الشر بالخير . سعيد بن جبير : يدفعون المنكر بالمعروف . الضحاك : يدفعون الفحش بالسلام . جويبر : يدفعون الظلم بالعفو . ابن شجرة : يدفعون الذنب بالتوبة . القتبي : يدفعون سفه الجاهل بالحلم ; فالسفه السيئة ، والحلم الحسنة . وقيل : إذا هموا بسيئة رجعوا عنها واستغفروا . وقيل : يدفعون الشرك بشهادة أن لا إله إلا الله ; فهذه تسعة أقوال معناها كلها متقارب ، والأول يتناولها بالعموم ; ونظيره : إن الحسنات يذهبن السيئات ومنه قوله - عليه السلام - لمعاذ : وأتبع السيئة الحسنة تمحها وخالق الناس بخلق حسن .أولئك لهم عقبى الدار أي عاقبة الآخرة ، وهي الجنة بدل النار ، والدار غدا داران : الجنة [ ص: 272 ] للمطيع ، والنار للعاصي ; فلما ذكر وصف المطيعين فدارهم الجنة لا محالة . وقيل : عني بالدار دار الدنيا ; أي لهم جزاء ما عملوا من الطاعات في دار الدنيا .

13:19
۞ أَفَمَن يَعۡلَمُ أَنَّمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ٱلۡحَقُّ كَمَنۡ هُوَ أَعۡمَىٰٓۚ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ ١٩
Then is he who knows that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth like one who is blind? They will only be reminded who are people of understanding -
13:20
ٱلَّذِينَ يُوفُونَ بِعَهۡدِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَنقُضُونَ ٱلۡمِيثَٰقَ ٢٠
Those who fulfill the covenant of Allāh and do not break the contract,
13:21
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُمۡ وَيَخَافُونَ سُوٓءَ ٱلۡحِسَابِ ٢١
And those who join that which Allāh has ordered to be joined1 and fear their Lord and are afraid of the evil of [their] account,

13:22

13:23
جَنَّٰتُ عَدۡنٖ يَدۡخُلُونَهَا وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنۡ ءَابَآئِهِمۡ وَأَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡ وَذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمۡۖ وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَدۡخُلُونَ عَلَيۡهِم مِّن كُلِّ بَابٖ ٢٣
Gardens of perpetual residence; they will enter them with whoever were righteous among their forefathers, their spouses and their descendants. And the angels will enter upon them from every gate, [saying],
13:24
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيۡكُم بِمَا صَبَرۡتُمۡۚ فَنِعۡمَ عُقۡبَى ٱلدَّارِ ٢٤
"Peace [i.e., security] be upon you for what you patiently endured." And excellent is the final home.
13:25
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَنقُضُونَ عَهۡدَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مِيثَٰقِهِۦ وَيَقۡطَعُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيُفۡسِدُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱللَّعۡنَةُ وَلَهُمۡ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ ٢٥
But those who break the covenant of Allāh after contracting it and sever that which Allāh has ordered to be joined and spread corruption on earth - for them is the curse, and they will have the worst home.1

13:26
ٱللَّهُ يَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقۡدِرُۚ وَفَرِحُواْ بِٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَمَا ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ إِلَّا مَتَٰعٞ ٢٦
Allāh extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. And they rejoice in the worldly life, while the worldly life is not, compared to the Hereafter, except [brief] enjoyment.
13:27
وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوۡلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۚ قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهۡدِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ مَنۡ أَنَابَ ٢٧
And those who disbelieved say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, Allāh leaves astray whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him] -
13:28
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَطۡمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِۗ أَلَا بِذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطۡمَئِنُّ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ ٢٨
Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allāh. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allāh hearts are assured."
