ذَٰلِكَ مِنۡ أَنۢبَآءِ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيۡكَۚ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيۡهِمۡ إِذۡ يُلۡقُونَ أَقۡلَٰمَهُمۡ أَيُّهُمۡ يَكۡفُلُ مَرۡيَمَ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيۡهِمۡ إِذۡ يَخۡتَصِمُونَ ٤٤
That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muḥammad]. And you were not with them when they cast their pens1 as to which of them should be responsible for Mary. Nor were you with them when they disputed.

Commentary on 3:44
﴿ذلك من أنباء الغيب﴾: ذلك اسم إشارة مبتدأ، ومن أنباء الغيب خبره، والجملة مستأنفة لا محل لها من الإعراب.
﴿نوحيه إليك﴾: فعل مضارع، وفاعله: نحن، والهاء مفعول به، والجار والمجرور متعلقان بنوحيه، والجملة حالية، أو استئنافية أيضًا لا محل لها من الإعراب.
﴿وما كنت لديهم﴾: الواو حالية، أو الواو استئنافية والجملة بعدها مستأنفة لا محل لها من الإعراب، وما نافية، وكان فعل ماض ناقص ناسخ، والتاء اسمها، ولديهم ظرف مكان متعلق بمحذوف خبر كان، أي: موجودًا لديهم.
﴿إذ يلقون أقلامهم﴾: إذ ظرف للزمن الماضي دخل على المضارع لحكاية الحال الماضية متعلق بما تعلق به ﴿لديهم﴾، أي: متعلق بالخبر المحذوف، وجملة يلقون في محل جر بالإضافة، وأقلامهم: مفعول به.
﴿أيهم يكفل مريم﴾: الجملة في محل نصب حال بتقدير فعل، أي: يتساءلون، وأي مبتدأ، والهاء مضاف إليه، والميم علامة جمع الذكور، وجملة يكفل مريم خبر المبتدأ.
﴿وما كنت لديهم إذ يختصمون﴾: الواو عاطفة، وما نافية، و﴿كنت﴾ كان: فعل ماض ناقص ناسخ، والتاء: اسم كان، ولديهم ظرف مكان متعلق بمحذوف خبر كان، وإذ: ظرف لما مضى متعلق بالخبر المحذوف، وجملة يختصمون في محل جر بالإضافة.

3:38
هُنَالِكَ دَعَا زَكَرِيَّا رَبَّهُۥۖ قَالَ رَبِّ هَبۡ لِي مِن لَّدُنكَ ذُرِّيَّةٗ طَيِّبَةًۖ إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ ٣٨
At that, Zechariah called upon his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication."
3:39
فَنَادَتۡهُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَهُوَ قَآئِمٞ يُصَلِّي فِي ٱلۡمِحۡرَابِ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُبَشِّرُكَ بِيَحۡيَىٰ مُصَدِّقَۢا بِكَلِمَةٖ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَسَيِّدٗا وَحَصُورٗا وَنَبِيّٗا مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ٣٩
So the angels called him while he was standing in prayer in the chamber, "Indeed, Allāh gives you good tidings of John, confirming a word1 from Allāh and [who will be] honorable, abstaining [from women], and a prophet from among the righteous."

3:40
قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِي غُلَٰمٞ وَقَدۡ بَلَغَنِيَ ٱلۡكِبَرُ وَٱمۡرَأَتِي عَاقِرٞۖ قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱللَّهُ يَفۡعَلُ مَا يَشَآءُ ٤٠
He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when I have reached old age and my wife is barren?" He [the angel] said, "Such is Allāh; He does what He wills."
3:41
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجۡعَل لِّيٓ ءَايَةٗۖ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَٰثَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِلَّا رَمۡزٗاۗ وَٱذۡكُر رَّبَّكَ كَثِيرٗا وَسَبِّحۡ بِٱلۡعَشِيِّ وَٱلۡإِبۡكَٰرِ ٤١
He said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not [be able to] speak to the people for three days except by gesture. And remember your Lord much and exalt [Him with praise] in the evening and the morning."
3:42
وَإِذۡ قَالَتِ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَٰمَرۡيَمُ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱصۡطَفَىٰكِ وَطَهَّرَكِ وَٱصۡطَفَىٰكِ عَلَىٰ نِسَآءِ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ٤٢
And [mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allāh has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds.
3:43
يَٰمَرۡيَمُ ٱقۡنُتِي لِرَبِّكِ وَٱسۡجُدِي وَٱرۡكَعِي مَعَ ٱلرَّٰكِعِينَ ٤٣
O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]."
3:44

3:45
إِذۡ قَالَتِ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَٰمَرۡيَمُ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُبَشِّرُكِ بِكَلِمَةٖ مِّنۡهُ ٱسۡمُهُ ٱلۡمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ وَجِيهٗا فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَمِنَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبِينَ ٤٥
[And mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allāh gives you good tidings of a word1 from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allāh].
