بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Al-Bayyinah 98:6

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ شَرُّ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ ٦
Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.

Commentary on 98:6
٦ - ﴿إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآۚ﴾ أي: ماكثـين فيها، لا يحولون عنها، ولا يزولون. حال مقدّرة، أي: مقدرا خلودهم فيها من الله تعالى.والآية: بيان لحالهم في الآخرة، إثر بيان حالهم في الدنيا، وأنهم صائرون إلى النار يوم القيامة.﴿أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ شَرُّ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ﴾ أي: الخليقة حالاً ومآلاً. والمراد: أنهم شرّ الناس أعمالاً لكفرهم وعدم إيمانهم بغياً وحسداً، مع علمهم بصحّة رسالته، ومشاهدتهم لمعجزاته، وصدّهم الناس عن سبيل الله، واجترائهم على الله بالكذب والافتراء والتحريف، ومحاربتهم لرسوله، ولذلك سيكونون شرّ الناس مصيراً ومآلاً يوم القيامة.و البريّة: من بَراَه الله يَبْروُه بَرْواً، أي: خلقه، وأصله: من البَرىَ، وهو التراب، لخلقهم في الأصل منه.[وقرئ بالهمز في الموضعين: (البريئة) من برأ الله الخلق يبرؤُهم، أي: خلقهم].

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
97:1
إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ ١
Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree.
97:2
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ ٢
And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?
97:3
لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ خَيۡرٞ مِّنۡ أَلۡفِ شَهۡرٖ ٣
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
97:4
تَنَزَّلُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمۡرٖ ٤
The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.1

97:5
سَلَٰمٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطۡلَعِ ٱلۡفَجۡرِ ٥
Peace it is1 until the emergence of dawn.

Al-Bayyinah

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
98:1
لَمۡ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأۡتِيَهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ ١
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief]1 until there came to them clear evidence –

رَسُولٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتۡلُواْ صُحُفٗا مُّطَهَّرَةٗ ٢
A Messenger from Allāh, reciting purified1 scriptures

98:3
فِيهَا كُتُبٞ قَيِّمَةٞ ٣
Within which are correct writings [i.e., rulings and laws].
98:4
وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ ٤
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided1 until after there had come to them clear evidence.

98:5
وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤۡتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ ٱلۡقَيِّمَةِ ٥
And they were not commanded except to worship Allāh, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakāh. And that is the correct religion.
98:6
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ شَرُّ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ ٦

98:7
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ ٧
Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.
