بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٖ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفِۭ ٤
Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.

Commentary on 106:4
٤ - ﴿ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٖ﴾ شديد كانوا فيه من قبل، فشبعوا بسبب تينك الرحلتين اللّتين آلفهم الله إيّاها، ويسّرها لهم.﴿وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفِۭ﴾ عظيم، وهو خوف التخطّف في بلدهم بدعوة إبراهيم عليه السلام، إذ قال:(رب اجعل هذا بلدا آمناً)البقرة(١٢٦).أو: آمن الله قريشا في أسفارهم حيثما ارتحلوا.أو: آمنهم من خوف أصحاب الفيل. كما قال تعالى: (أولم يروا أنا جعلنا حرماً آمنا ويُتخطف الناس من حولهم)العنكبوت(٦٧).وقريش: هم قبيلة النبيّ ﷺ. وهم ولد النّضر بن كنانة على الأصح.والنّضر: هو الأب الثالث عشر للنبي ﷺ.أخرج الحاكم وغيره عن أم هانئ رضي الله عنها، قالت: قال رسول الله ﷺ: «فضّل الله قريشاً بسبع خصال» الحديث. وفيه: «نزلت فيهم سورة لم يُذكر فيها أحد غيرهم:(لإيلاف قريش)».ورواه البيهقي في «الخلافيات».وقيل: إن مطلع هذه السورة متعلّق بما قبلها، أي: فعلنا ما فعلنا بأصحاب الفيل لإئتلاف قريش واجتماعهم في بلدهم آمنين، واستقامة مصالحهم، وانتظام رحلتهم في الشتاء والصّيف. انتهى تفسير سورة قريش

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
106:1
لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيۡشٍ ١
For the accustomed security of the Quraysh1 -

- i.e., the honor and reputation Allāh had given them as guardians of the Holy Kaʿbah, which allowed them to travel without fear of being harmed. ↩
106:2
إِۦلَٰفِهِمۡ رِحۡلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيۡفِ ٢
Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer1 -

فَلۡيَعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٣
Let them worship the Lord of this House,1

سورة الماعون
Al-Ma'un
The Small kindnesses · Meccan · 7 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
107:1
أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ ١
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
107:2
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ ٢
For that is the one who drives away the orphan
107:3
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ ٣
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
107:4
فَوَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ ٤
So woe to those who pray
107:5
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِهِمۡ سَاهُونَ ٥
[But] who are heedless of their prayer1 -

- i.e., the hypocrites who are unconcerned if they miss prayers when no one sees them. ↩
107:6
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ ٦
Those who make show [of their deeds]
107:7
وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ ٧
And withhold [simple] assistance.
سورة الكوثر
Al-Kawthar
The Abundance · Meccan · 3 ayahs
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
108:1
إِنَّآ أَعۡطَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ ١
Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muḥammad], al-Kawthar.
108:2
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنۡحَرۡ ٢
So pray to your Lord and offer sacrifice [to Him alone].
108:3
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلۡأَبۡتَرُ ٣
Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.1
